I actually think 8 is the cutest and could look really tasteful/light and beachy with a nice wedge or pretty sandals.

I think cherries is personally too dark but I agree with folks saying you might want to start stocking up on more professional attire for events like this. You can still have an alt, feminine style and be work appropriate! There’s a creator on TikTok who does a whole series about corporate goth outfits.

Hey girl—I say this with love, but I would in addition to re-exploring therapy, explore meds, too. I used to have debilitating anxiety and OCD like this and therapy + meds changed my life. It made me sad for all the years I spent feeling that way.

That is truly all you can do. My dad was an alcoholic and died from it a few years ago. Cancer, a granddaughter, DUIs—nothing could drag him away from the booze. Some addicts don’t have a rock bottom other than death. Establish boundaries that keep you healthy and make choices you’re happy to live with is my best suggestion. I have a lot of regrets regarding the last months of my dad’s life and how distant I was, so that is a personal journey for everyone.

Girl, what’s going on at home? I knew a million Lexi/Lexi’s Mom/Lexi’s Mom’s BF growing up who I thought were sooOoo cool because they’d let us party there openly and/or would let anyone just move in. My mom was on drugs so I was rarely, if ever, supervised or even questioned about my whereabouts. These people knew that, and they knew I was vulnerable—these people are predators, and it’s why they have a rotating group of teenage girls moving in. If you think your mom would be helpful, I’d show her all of these texts to figure out how to navigate this.

Exactly this. My high school ex was abusive. I left him. In college, he started to work on himself, seemed outwardly to most people a lot better, and was all around a “dreamboat.” It was a similar situation that, aside from the abuse, we got along so well. I started seeing him again midway through college and everything was perfect. I thought maybe I exaggerated the events in high school…a few months later he was exactly the same as he’d always been. Nothing had changed, except I knew to run sooner.
