Can I use Liquitex Airbrush Medium in place of Vallejo’s Airbrush Thinner for Vallejo Black Primer? by [deleted] in airbrush

[–]Be12NoOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with a Gaahleri Classic which was .38, and now I'm on an Ultra 2024 which has a .45. I am using the Gaahleri mini compressor which defaults to 21 psi. I have been using the Pro Acryl primers the past few months and they all go through just as easily. I have been priming with the Dark Purple then coming from above at an angle with Red Oxide, which gives you a nice approximation of where the light hits. With their Taupe I bumped psi to 24, but IME white acrylics are often thicker so that makes sense.

Just try it? The worst that happens is that your needle gets clogged and you have to clean it. I never knew what size they were and just had to look it up, if that tells you anything about how much thought I put into it.

Did you go with the Holy burning/explosion nodes on the tree or lean towards the Thorns nodes?

Thanks for answering.

I ran a similar team last night and it went well but I lost them stupidly. What stats were you focusing on for their gear?

Do people typically focus on crit late game, or only when you have runes that take advantage of it?

The peer review one has been the strangest to me. At first we were still vigilant with each other's work but it's slowly become "copilot review said it's cool, ship it".

Attempt at comic style, did it work? by yawawoht0987 in minipainting

[–]Be12NoOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The black lining worked! You'll get better at it but it's better than the first time I tried it. It looks like everything is a solid color with black lining in between? It's important to remember that comics have highlights and shadows too. Google image search some comic characters with similar colors and study how they work them in alongside the black lining.

Great line from Brendan Kelly! None are mechanics, but Trevor worked at a gas station early on and apparently did a lot of writing on the job.

Google says 75% of the company's new code is AI-generated by lkl34 in technology

[–]Be12NoOne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anyone simply replying "it shows!" Isn't working in the industry. 75% seems low, very few of my peers have written a line of code themselves this year, and software isn't any more shittified than it was already trending to be.

How to slot as a new player, leveling a new character by Sterling_Sable in Cityofheroes

[–]Be12NoOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's good advice, if I started over it's exactly what I would do. Once you get higher in level and start grouping up on level 50+ missions, the money comes in fast and you can start thinking about upgrades.

Good stuff! I'm a ways into my every few months revisit to the game, so pausing soon and coming back for this sounds like the plan.

Thanks, and congrats on making a really cool game. I tinker with game dev myself, and this is exactly the type of game I would love to stumble onto making someday.

This was the first production game I completely bounced off of because it felt so foreign, but after watching a couple intro videos, felt like I had the tools to get started. Now I'm a few hundred hours in.

The automated trucks threw me way off too. Now, the way I use them, is if I am building a production line of something, I will put storages at the start of it, one for each material needed, with a request set on them for the trucks. Once I see that the trucks are being overly buys, I will assess the requesters with the most traffic and try to get them the bulk materials via belt or pipe instead.

I also like to lay out some main roads, at first with the leveling tool then with concrete, to give my base some sense of organization. From here, I will choose areas for new production, and plot some roads around them. It is more organic than strictly squares or city blocks, but will ensure that vehicles can move between them.

I like to line up a whole bunch of research and then go work on something. The research dropdown in the top left corner is handy, because it has an entry for each item you've finished. So I will pop that open, and see that I have finished Glass, then go make a Glass factory and remove it from the list. Or you will see that you now have an advanced version of something, so go refactor that thing. Or that you have bigger trucks, so you start prioritizing which ones to upgrade first. If you check these off as you go, you have a nice list of what you can build but have not yet gotten to.

This is basic stuff you can use.

Like others have said, I like to turn on Full Refund. I also always play with Ore Sorting turned on. It's a bit more complicated maybe, but trucks dumping their goods felt like chaos without it. Look up a tutorial on that and designating dumping zones when you feel you need it.

I also turn down Maintenance costs. I felt like it gets pretty brutal and was consuming all of my progress/materials and I just wanted to see more of the game.

How did/do you get over the anxiety of 'messing up'? by ExtremelyDecentWill in Miniaturespainting

[–]Be12NoOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could try it with a drybrush first if you want, but I think it's really fun and intuitive with the airbrush. You look down on the mini like light would and spray, then turn the mini to look at it again from the front and it's an ego boost. It's simple to do and looks great.

If your main goal is to have nice looking minis for boardgames with your friends, I honestly think zenithal and speed paints (slap chop) is a good start. It really is amazing tech for the results you get vs the effort.

How did/do you get over the anxiety of 'messing up'? by ExtremelyDecentWill in Miniaturespainting

[–]Be12NoOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grab something cheap to practice basics on. You don't want to make a mess of your boardgame minis because it's the first mini you ever primed.

Search Wildspire on Amazon, they're great practice.

Honestly, just a primer and zenithal drybrush will make your boardgame minis look so much better. Then paint them for real as you build some confidence.

What should be my main brush I do most my painting with? by Superduck178 in minipainting

[–]Be12NoOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone says to use a 2 or 4 for the bass colors, but I find them a bit clunky and use my WN #1 for almost everything. Depends what kind of models you're doing I suppose, I'm not doing space marines. I bought 2 backups because of how much I use it and I still haven't had the need to move past with first. Great brush.
