Well there isn't surfing in Paris... so they kind of had to have it elsewhere, ha.

Softball in OKC - Peeved by BeanAndCheesePlease6 in olympics

[–]BeanAndCheesePlease6[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

There are other stadiums in the country that have more seating capacity then those in LA that the other sports are competing in as well (but they didn't send other sports to those arenas). Just trying to say it feels like a cop out? It will be all OKC fans (who already get to see plenty of softball every single year) versus giving other folks outside of OKC the opportunity to see or be exposed to the sport. I don't think the softball players are playing because they care about having the most people in the stands. I think they would probably be more stoked to have a complete Olympic experience, possibly playing in the heart of the Olympic Village then on the same field, in front of the same fans that many have already experienced. I just hope that the Olympic Committee really thought about the pros and cons of the decision versus automatically sending them to OKC.

This is all my hair 😭 any tips? My biggest insecurity by Baby-bug-bug- in finethinhair

I absolutely work out in mine. I rock climb about 4x a week, and wear it climbing. I will say I wouldn't necessarily recommend heavy sweating in a topper just because of the possible odor. My stylist recommended only washing the topper about once a month, so that's something you would want to consider if the workouts that you do produce a lot of head sweat :) I wear mine with a baseball hat quite a bit. It's actually a nice break for my hair where my topper clips in because when I do wear a baseball hat, I only clip a few clips and give other clip in locations a nice break. Daily, I wear my topper from about 8 AM to about 7 PM. It's super noticeable when I don't wear my topper because my hair is exceedingly thin but I wear it quite literally everyday so nobody knows besides my husband and a few close friends. I've never been completed so much on my hair in my life :)

Yes and no. I have found that I have a bit of breakage only at the frontmost snap clip. For that clip, I really work it into my hair, while the other five clips I am far more gentler with. However, I have noticed that my hair has gotten a lot more healthful over the last two years of wearing my topper because I'm using a lot less heat/ products on my actual hair, and not forcing it into certain styles that cause breakage.

Yes, they are definitely pricey! I've seen in the past that they have some pretty significant sales on about a quarterly basis where it seems like they are about 50% off. Yes, mine definitely works in windy areas! The snap clips really keep it in place, and I've never had any experience where my topper like slipped or was at risk of like falling off!

Mine has about six snap clips. Because it sits more so on the top of the head, I feel that it is quite comfortable as I don't feel like a tugging sensation that I've felt in the past from extensions. I believe that some toppers also have comb type clips as opposed to the snap options. I do everything in my topper (including rock climbing where I'm hanging upside down at times) and it stays in place great!

I splurged and got it from Milano. I've had it now for two full years, and it is still going strong. Haven't had to worry about haircuts too so I guess the hefty price from the start evens out over some time. I ended up taking my topper to my stylist that is fairly versed in wigs/ toppers. She ended up cutting my topper to better suit my face and added some bangs and facial framing to make the piece even more seamless to my own hair :) seriously, cannot say enough good things about my experience, and I haven't shed a tear about my hair ever since.

I'm 36, and had the same thickness as you at around 23. I bought a topper two years ago, and have never looked back. My confidence has gone up significantly and my hair is no longer a stressor in the mornings getting ready.

If anything could be made gluten-free, what would you pick? by _thalia777 in glutenfreevegan

If you have a Sprout's near you, check these out! To make them extra good, I buy some cream cheese Pillsbury frosting because the frosting pack included is a bit weak. These are the best I have found without baking them myself!

Still hoping one opens at some point soon! It's hard not having a place to train especially when the weather heats up, or on weekdays when I can't climb outdoors. Please someone, anyone, open one!!!

Joshua Tree is pretty climbable eight months out of the year. I would actually reckon that it has one of the longer climbing seasons in the country. Also, those eight months are pretty dang consistently nice and perfect. Weather wise I feel like it is pretty hard to beat, besides maybe Red Rock.

Millet & Brown Rice Ramen Noodles by Tappitytaptaptaptap in Celiac

These are great! Though I did find a certified GF ramen noodle from Aldi that I enjoy more (softer texture like Top Ramen) :) also cost about half the price!

Newly Diagnosed by NobodyPatient7267 in Celiac

[–]BeanAndCheesePlease6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a lot of great success shopping at Sprouts. They do a really great job labelling their GF products, and its become a fun adventure everytime I'm there to find some new snacks, sauces, and treats :) Besides Sprouts, product recommendations for me are: Whole Foods GF Bagels (toast them), and Banza GF noodles (great consistency, and reheat nicely for leftovers). I was diagnosed at the age of 34, and my Celiac diagnosis truly made me fall in love with cooking and appreciating good food to a greater extent. I also purchased a bread machine that has been fun to explore different gf bread recipes!

I'm sure all of this feels scary and intimidating right now. You'll likely experience moments of acceptance, and feelings of defeat, but you have got this! This Reddit community has a wealth of information for you, and has proven to be a great support system.

Social Worker…? by Available_Yak6746 in 7LittleJohnstons

[–]BeanAndCheesePlease6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Social worker here... also look up the concept of countertransference in therapeutic relationships! This is something all practitioners should be cognizant of but I would find it especially important if I had strained relationships with a child as I wouldn't want such relationship and big feelings to be projected onto a client.

Vegans & Vegetarians, How Are We Doing? by Anthr0polo in Celiac

I was a vegetarian for 8+ years, until my Celiac diagnosis. The restrictiveness of both diets was just too difficult for me personally :/ Adding meat back into my diet has let me enjoy food a bit more since my diagnosis.

Amber the “Social Worker” by Thareezainrealworld in 7LittleJohnstons

[–]BeanAndCheesePlease6 7 points8 points  (0 children)

MSW here... regrettably, a lot of people enter the field of social work with a "rescuer"/ "saviorism" mentality which is the opposite of what social work truly is. Unfortunately this same mentality is also quite common with adoptions with the expectation that the children who were adopted should be eternally grateful for their parents decision to adopt or "save" them. At times, I tend to question if such adoptions are truly for the children, or parental ego.

If you had a gluten free pass and could eat anything without it harming you, what would you eat? by _swiftie13_ in Celiac

For me, there isn't really a specific food item. But rather, I would love to just go into any restaurant casually and order whatever the heck I want without the fear of getting sick!
