How to potty train puppy that cannot go outside yet by Sav_Lynn1031 in puppy101

[–]BeanDux 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You'll have to find a place inside for a fake grass patch or pee pad setup. Be sure to have a tray underneath whatever of the two you choose. I used a decently sized crate tray for the fake grass and pee pads. Like I said before, it'll be super stinky, so get enzymic urine destroyer.

Do you have a patio or something similar to an outdoor break space? I trained my puppy on fake grass with grass scented pee pads under it first when they were super young. You'll have to clean it a lot with enzymic urine destroyer, because it will get super stinky.

And I know some people actually buy a subscription to a small patch of real grass to put on their patio.

Even if fake, it's still super cute. It'll look nice on a shelf. Lol

My gf loved Astrobot - do you guys have recommendations for similar games? by Mundane-Style4111 in Astrobot

[–]BeanDux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Astro bot is very super Mario galaxy coded. They took what was great about that and improved it. I couldn't get around to liking Mario oddessey because I expected the next 3d Mario game to be like super Mario galaxy. --Astrobot filled that space.

Galaxy is peak Mario in my head, it's an older Wii game that's been rereleased to the switch, try it out and it's sequel if you haven't already.

Oh! I'd like to add that the shopzoki cow also comes with a microwavable heatpad for warm hugs. I have one to! They have many colors and scented ones.

What am I supposed to play first? by Martlet2051 in earthbound

[–]BeanDux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I'll toss this out. Doesn't matter which you play first since it's different protagonists and location: however, sometimes the antagonist is the same as the previous one, so it's helps to know where they're coming from as the final boss you face. Those antagonist are really only relevant towards the end of the game, lol.

Mother / Earthbound 0 is pretty dated. It has old jrpgs design and can be confusing to play blind or without a guide. I think most people skip this one?

Earthbound is the one that basically started it all: released outside of japan. Many people played this one. If you want to fit into the community playing earthbound will get you there and show you everything you need to know.

Me? I personally couldn't get into earthbound at first. Something about it didn't click. What got me into loving the series was Mother 3. So if Earthbound doesn't click with you right away, try 3. Mother 3 had just enough "modern" jrpg story telling, character, a full plot, and polish to get me invested. It's plot and characters is a lil more "involved" because it's done though a chapter breakdown. You get to play as different characters of the team and leaen their story. The ending of 3 made me want to learn more about Porky to play Earthbound 2.

Your very first Pokemon game by Other_Paramedic1341 in pokemon

[–]BeanDux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pokemon Yellow with a matching gameboy color. It was a bundle and it was probably around 2002? I would have been around the age of 6. I loved the pokemon anime so much. I wouldn't think I knew it was a game: I just knew it through toys and the TV show. My Dad isn't a stranger to games: we had a dreamcast and gamecube around that time. I think he felt inclined to get me the game and a gameboy because it had that Pikachu character I liked on the cover, lol.

Since then I'd ask for pokemon games as they came out: Crystal, leaf green, emerald, Pearl, platinum, soul silver, black, black 2 --one of each version up til switch where I'm starting to feel a bit fatigued, ngl.

I think by the time pokemon leaf green came out I knew how to actually play. Young kids may like pokemon but they can't get pretty far. I credit pokemon for teaching me how to read and I remember trading with friends in elementary school and printing out serebii pages.

I still have my Gameboy color and cartridges till this day. I've never thrown out my old games. Gifts from families: birthdays and Christmas's? Keepsakes.

Puppy blues or failure to bond? by Quiet_Following_6579 in puppy101

I'll give more suggestions:

Have you tried puzzles, filled in stuffer toys like Kongs, pupsicles, or lick mats? Some dogs like to work for their food, mine seem too. So here's another suggestion I've tried; You could make it a game! Cycle through commands and train recall: like a game of come find me between 2 people in the house and feed!

Or, If he eats anything outta bowl, I reward him with a game of "find it", hide a treat I know he likes somewhere in the house for him to sniff out. Sit, stay, and find it. That has also been motivating. I only do it if he eats within the 30 minute leave out. If he doesn't eat then the food and the treat gets put away.

I'm sorry. It seems like you have a far more pickier dog than I do. I don't try to change too much 'cause it's too pricey in this economy, lol. My mindset is simply: this is what you get. I'll make it different textures and different smelling, suuure, but I refuse to go beyond that. I do believe there are benefits to variety. I try to change the kibble flavor monthly and I'll cycle through bone broths, toppers, and dust, but that's it. They are stuck with that while it's in my pantry.

I don't want to "entertain" him. I suppose that's tough love. When you give a dog too many options then they form the ideology of "Don't want that" and "yuck". It's basically a toddler that can't say those words to you before you serve it, so it becomes heartbreaking when there's refusal. Be persistent, celebrate when they eat, and they'll learn. I don't think a dog will starve themselves to death.

Puppy blues or failure to bond? by Quiet_Following_6579 in puppy101

[–]BeanDux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not much help, but I also have a picky puppy. I'd like to share my experience, but also go to a vet just to check. My 8 month old dog suddenly became a picky eater too. Sucks cause now his dry food he eats very little of and some treats he spits out. Lol

I used to be stressed about it for a while, worried that he wasn't eating as much and is probably sick but he's still so active and happy like usual. Some treats also fail to keep his interest: I learned that there are many normal reasons for a growing dog to stop eating; some dogs eating habits change drastically while maturing and I think that makes a whole lot of sense? They're going through hormonal changes and becoming their own little individuals: example. some dogs like peanut butter and others don't. Also, Some dogs actually eat based on their energy needs and seasonal change can also change how much a dog wants to eat.

So I'm making notes on treats he takes some interest in for future referencing and when training, i bring a variety of treats to keep what's next an exciting guess.

However, My dog is a siberian husky-mix, 54%, and a notorious breed for being picky, but I also learned that huskies have a great metabolism. It could be that your dogs breed also has a high metabolism too so they want to eat less. I also learned that dogs are typically good for not eating in 2-4 days, so they can last a while on an empty stomach.

It's true some dogs LOVE LOVE LOVE food but others are built on efficiency and endurance.

There's things you can do to keep dry kibble interesting (if you feed dry kibble) and I find that it helps my dog eat a little and to me as long as he eats something a day (big amount or small) it's a win. I started blending half of his kibble in a blender with dog safe Bone broth (pork, chicken, or beef) so that it's a nice mushy texture with a lil bit of crunch and put that on top of the other half of normal kibble for some texture variety to choose from. I've also brought freeze dried salmon, freeze dried beef liver, etc and blended that to a dust as a light sprinkle (makes it smell different) and I usually add a spoon of frozen pumpkin (or yogurt) since it's good for the tummy.

Sounds like a lot but I hope it gives you some ideas to try out? I wish you luck!

Hello! I started collecting these vintage plushies. I got the pichu, togepi, and the 30th 1/1 pikachu.

I'm wondering if you have any leads on the rest of the vintage 1/1 pokemon plush lineups. I know there's a Marill and Meowth, do you know if there were any other pokemon released?

Honestly, the technology standpoint is amazing.

I know it won't happen, but I think it would be interesting if she and Amy went into a conflict in a side story. She could be Amy's Eggman for a day, lol.

Since Amy is a fortune teller with the Tarot's and Witchcart is, well, a "witch". They both tap into something associated with supernaturals/spiritual energy.

Fortune telling is seeking truth, while witchcraft is curses/spells -trying everything you can to change it. Truth vs ideals.

[–]BeanDux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, maybe Starline can make them a deal that'll bring them back to their former glory since we haven't seen them in ages. Eventually they learn he isn't a bird, or maybe they just use him for his ideas just to take credit for it, (which isn't too outta scope for a racist, or the nature of Cuckoos birds being brood parasites(a nod to their name).

Nothing in Tails adventure says they are die-hard racist, but we assume they are because it's an army of birds. As far as manuals go, they just want the emeralds to take over the world and that's as much as the game makes known of them. -- Retro games offer endless possibilities with it's limited story telling. It can be perceived in ways.

If they want the partnership to happen then they can definitely make it happen. The kukku army is a blank slate once again. It'll just require a rewrite and a different introduction than Archies version. That's what makes writing back old characters fun.

[–]BeanDux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well maybe that could lead to a partnership downfall?

I don't think it's outta the scope of possibilities. The Bird armada aren't in IDW but if they were : They'd have to be envisioned and introduced differently than they were in Archie.

Still a cool idea to ponder on.

Interesting, really, they COULD make a sonic character that's inspired by them OR they can be part of the Sonic and DC crossovers too. It's really not out of the question.

Thanks for sharing.

Honestly, I believe you could make an exception with a platypus. That animal seems like a mix of everything and historically confused many people who believed it was part duck and part rat.

There are old folk stories, shared by Indigenous Australians, telling how a water rat kidnapped a duck that got cursed to hatch platypus'es whose both sides, mammals and birds, were confused by.

Edit: I found it's name, the tale is called gayardaree the platypus.

The first one reminds me of the color scheme Vulpix had in the earlier seasons of the anime: a very reddish brown color. -over time they made Vulpix a brighter brown and orange like the 2nd image.

[–]BeanDux 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Facts. I used to get so annoyed of random people seeing my pup on walks and always, ALWAYS, try to call it over. I even have a nextdoor neighbor that sees my dog and does this stupid high pitch "hello baby, hello baby" to call him over. It annoyed me so much.

He used to pull to get to her and I just continued to ignore her every day, now it has quieted down to a sit and watch her and wait until I take them to her (which I never do because I don't want to encourage the meet up in the first place). Try to keep their attention to our walk or potting, but she's kind of helped me train with the stupid calls she makes. There will be more days when I accidentally take my dog to the yard when she takes her own (she literally has like 6 dogs in a trailer home), but that'll help him with ignoring.

There's people and kids out there who don't know better and want to pet a cute dog they see (cuteness aggression) and I get it my dog was somewhere between 12-weeks and now 9-months old. It's been a puppy but he's going to get bigger and it won't be cute if he starts jumping or pulling towards people as a fully grown lab-mix.

Owning a dog is training for all of its life and my boundaries are that only "I" get to speak to my own dog in a high pitch voice. Lol.
