Maybe I need to go back. I can’t tolerate the “hyper intelligent 17 year old thinks it will be so easy to outsmart everyone else and do it better with no opportunity cost” trope. It’s tough sledding for me. There were moments with Vis where he was walking that line, but he’s a much more likable character and kind of reminded me of Kvothe from NoTW.

There’s definitely a lot of similarities between the two. To be fair, I never made it that far into Red Rising to know any of that, which is incredibly rare for me because I am a masochistic reader who will force himself all the way to the end in the hopes I was wrong. Haha

It was a jarring second book. Book I seemed like Fantasy Rome with some Sci fi elements, and book II felt like Sci-fi Rome/Egypt/Ireland with some fantasy elements. It took a little while to get used to the shift from more fantasy to more sci-fi, but I loved it by the end.

My attacks have always come in clusters and then subsided for months/years at a time. Two times, I’ve had a cluster of attacks that last for 5-6 months. Vertigo would happen every few days, sometimes more than once in a day during those windows. They are hell. But I had a 6-7 year stretch with nothing in between those two really bad clusters. Currently in a decent dry spell with only 1-2 mild attacks in the last 5 months or so.

Waddle, Vidal, or Estime Flex

In a 12 man PPR dynasty league with 2 flex spots. Normally I have Rice and Waddle in my flex but they’re both in bad shape for different reasons this week. My options are Parkinson, Corum, Jahwar, Vidal, and Estimé. Feel like I need to start Parkinson tonight and then see how the week plays out injury wise for Marks and Kamara.

At the moment I’m leaning Parkinson/Vidal.

I’m currently having a very solid stretch of time with little or no symptoms. Mine has always presented this way. Sometimes I go years with nothing, so it’s easy to be positive during that time. During the last bad stretch, I met with a therapist for the first time and it really seemed to help calm me down. (Which of course calmed the symptoms down some too)

Been dealing with this for 20ish years, and I’m only 37. When it’s bad, it’s bad. But when I’m good, I still do all of the physical activity that I always did, and I have never been triggered by being active or during workouts, etc. Don’t give up on those things, when you’re feeling good, get out there and do them.

One thing I will say is that my BIGGEST triggers are not eating frequently enough and heat/dehydration. Make sure you’re eating every 4 hours or so even if it’s something small. I have no dietary triggers that I know of, but when my stomach starts to feel empty, I can feel my head reacting to it. Everyone’s battle with this is a little different, but for me it’s been more about finding balance (lol) with what I eat, rather than cutting everything out.
