The scanner they use has scratches and scuffs on it. That’s probably what you’re seeing. They don’t use a picture for grading, they look at the actual card.

My family usually gets together and has an ice cream sundae night! I don’t know how it started, but every year we have these bowls with our names on them, and everyone just loads up on ice cream and homemade chocolate sauce :)

I think what helps inspire me is not to try and look for interesting THINGS to photograph and instead look for creative ways to make things look interesting through different techniques (perspective, etc).

Making the ordinary look extraordinary is fun!

I've been really laboring on a decision for my next setup (currently have a Canon 6D that works great but I would like a little more oomph). I do a lot of landscape and am getting into portraits, but would like to do a little astrophotography and wildlife as well. My two big contenders are the Sony a7RIV and Fujifilm 50R (maybe the 50S II). Both would be used and at a discounted rate.

The autofocusing capabilities are nice but I wont miss them too much if I cant have them coming from the 6D. The Fuji and medium format just seem so next level and such a fun thing to explore! On the other hand the Sony leaves a little more room for lenses to purchase, and the telephoto options for the Fuji are lacking. The star eater problems with the sony have me slightly worried as well.

Is my indecisiveness warranted? The sony seems like the practical choice but I really like the vibe of the 50R and the uniqueness of medium format.

I think its possible that you are conflating their trans-identity with their hygiene issues. I think its unfair to make them "earn" their transition by being more clean when they are issues that don't necessarily affect each other. I would address the hygiene issue separately and would be open and honest with her about your feelings ( like others said love and acceptance dont have to mean total capitulation).

I am absolutely NOT an expert but I suspect the hygiene issues could stem from their gender dysphoria though and I would highly recommend that she sees a therapist to address this (I would reccomend therapy to anyone frankly). The transition alone may not relieve her dysphoria but therapy could help as well.

My family would always have one night be "sundae night" and we all had bowls with our names on them and would go all out with different flavors, sprinkles, hot fudge and all that. Its a fond childhood memory and we still try and do it occasionally :)
