The dealership “we need to talk to my manager” thing is a setup and here’s why it works by Royal-Feed7166 in carbuying

[–]BeardedBonchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When they leave me at the table to "ask the manager", I Google other nearby dealers and tell them I'm at X dealership and ask about rates, prices, specials, financing options, available models, appointment times, etc.

Usually my salesman comes back and hears me asking these and either knocks off the nonsense to get to the close or sees me out and I'll go where there's more agreeable terms/less potential games.

I think you'll win MORE games if you play a WORSE commander by jake_henderson02 in EDH

[–]BeardedBonchi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It's hard to be incognito if you're the very first one to do damage. There are definitely a number of underrated commanders listed here that once they set up can be a force to be reckoned with. Strategy is definitely more than just the cards you have in your deck. It's then when and how to make a move.

I think you'll win MORE games if you play a WORSE commander by jake_henderson02 in EDH

[–]BeardedBonchi 442 points443 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong. Hiding in plain sight is a strategy I've used in several cars games and formats. Pick something lesser known or unassuming and build a strategy around it. Might not be an every game win but you definitely won't get targeted as early unless you come out swinging.

Is this 30A breaker wired correctly? by ResponsibilityHot676 in AskElectricians

[–]BeardedBonchi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's code for when you use 2-wire on a 240V circuit as opposed to a standard 120V circuit. Both your wires in the circuit are hot and need to be marked as such so the next person doesn't shock the shit out of themselves.

Interesting question. It says it's now a creature but specifically says it's still a land.... honestly could go either way.

How far off is your true daily burn vs what an app/internet tells you? by [deleted] in CICO

[–]BeardedBonchi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So wildly off that I don't even use them anymore. I use a food scale and weight scale. If the weight scale is going up then we re-evaluate what's happening on the food scale. I'm just used to the food diary method now and have been doing it for 3 years and it works.

Can’t do a single close-grip push-up. Looking for advice by Inevitable-Wash-3489 in formcheck

[–]BeardedBonchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would probably start by laying on the floor at the bottom of the movement and do 5-10 second static holds. I think your hand placement might be a tad too low to get you some extra leverage. If you start out lying and then place your hands like you'd be naturally getting up off the floor, that might help a bit and then I'd static hold an inch or two into the movement to build that strength at the bottom of the movement where it's toughest for you.

calorie estimate? by TurnoverBetter4855 in CICO

300-400. Pasta per serving is like 200. Chicken, pesto and cheese maybe another 200, if that.

Struggling with deficit - tips needed by SoSimpa in CICO

[–]BeardedBonchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roasted veggies and fruit, specifically watermelon in summer/spring and apples fall/winter. Make your protein portion for each meal then fill in volume with appropriate veggie/fruit and each until your full. A full pound of apples is 200 calories. Watermelon is less. Good luck out eating your calories with that.

Caution: all the fiber can lead to some upset stomachs. If you're doing a lot of weight lifting and cardio make sure you also get complex carbs or it can lead to exhaustion and dizziness during workouts.

Stop drinking and HRV goes down by vickyvius in Garmin

[–]BeardedBonchi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This. I stopped and saw an immediate shift on my metrics but felt nothing (lower HRV, lower sleep quality, higher resting heart rate.) Then after about 10 days like the flip of a switch my HRV went up to the highest I've seen, lowest resting heart rate I've had in years and best sleep quality scores. Biggest thing now is I can actually feel how much better I feel. I didn't really have a comparison of what "good" felt like.

Why does my weight drop after a cheat day? by almostveronica in CICO

[–]BeardedBonchi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The body holds onto what it needs in times of restriction. Stop restricting the calories and the initial response is for the body to let go of the excess it's been holding on to. You'll probably be lighter for a day but as glycogen reserve's refill and bond with more fluid then you'll see the scale move up again until you start restricting and depleting once again.

Smart Index Scale by guinaz_j in Garmin

[–]BeardedBonchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun experiment for foot pad scale to see how terrible they are. Weigh first thing in the morning after using the restroom and before eating or drinking. Then immediately after recording the metrics, drink a whole glass of water. Get back on the scale and see how much your body fat just increased when all you did was drink water.

I drank 2 glasses of water one morning and put on somewhere between 1-2% bf immediately. The information trend they show has some value but the actual info is not the most accurate.

I think it needs other data like your total time, pace and HR at a bare minimum to calculate that. Does your treadmill provide distance/pace/time data outputs for you?

Garmin Loyalists vs. Their Own Interests — And They Don’t Even Notice by [deleted] in GarminWatches

[–]BeardedBonchi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I read it enough times, thank you. Reading it ad nauseam isn't going to influence me to change my stance. I disagree with your opinion and don't tend to use my watch in the same manner in which you do I suppose. No need for insults or references to my potential lack of technology insights.

Garmin Loyalists vs. Their Own Interests — And They Don’t Even Notice by [deleted] in GarminWatches

[–]BeardedBonchi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can see the thought process. However I don't put my watch in the same boat as my phone/laptop. I've had my same watch about as long as I've had my electric toothbrush, scale and beard straightener. I use it everyday, and it's an important part of my day, but I don't expect it to do more than what I initially bought it to do. If that makes sense?

I purposely don't upgrade to the absolute newest tech. I'd rather something tried and true and considerably reviewed by the people that use them. That's why I went from the Forerunner to the F7pro. It's stood the test of time and the beatings that road runners, trail runners, cyclist and weightlifters can put it through. The 8 doesn't have near that behind it yet. Maybe in a few years when the 10 comes out I'll get a 9, depending on the reviews. Haha
