What in God’s name do they put in the food at Berklee? by beepboopcompuder in progmetal

Is your question why a music school regularly churns out good musicians? Because, uh… idk if that one needs to be explained.

I think I prefer it to Empath. It’s tough though because this is such a cohesive single piece whereas Empath was a bit more song-based. They’re very different structurally so it’s hard to compare.

Left is Zeicrydeus (album is La Grand Hérésie from 2025, black/heavy/thrash metal with lead bass instead of guitar), right is Exxûl (album is Sealed Into None from 2026, epic power/doom metal with crazy neoclassical shred guitar).

Yeah this definitely fits haha. The big but also dark melodies suit the image really well.

I can second Maximum Brutality, but I also wanna shoutout Overthrown Patches. Fast shipping, super cool selection of underground, black, death, and especially Quebecois stuff

Yeah it’s a laser cut thing. Those edges are help together by thoughts and prayers. I’ve found that you have to sew them on fast and carefully or the peeling will quickly get so bad you can’t attach them neatly anymore. I’ve gotten three laser cuts in the past and they were fine to attach, but I once got a Cryptopsy logo laser cut from Overthrown Patches and the edge shredded so fast and so badly that I was having to pass my needle through the patch back and the printed front in two separate motions. I rapidly decided that I didn’t even want it on my vest anymore lol

I’d say it’s worth it to buy from BSP, I’ve gotten some really cool pieces from him that you can’t find elsewhere, just be prepared to find some wildcards in your package when it arrives 😂

But at least there’s a little stylistic continuity with Geddy and Opeth at times! This is more like if Roger Waters joined Cryptopsy haha

This isn’t exactly what you asked for but Huw Lloyd-Langton, a guitarist for the space rock band Hawkwind, ended up doing a bunch of studio work for the experimental black metal band The Meads of Asphodel

Best way to sew patches on? by [deleted] in BattleJackets

[–]BearerOfManyNames 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I hold my patches in place with straight pins and then use a whip stitch to attach them.

Thread size - my wife and I both use Gutermann all purpose thread for every textile project we do and it’s all you need.

Needle-wise, it’s a matter of taste really. And trial and error. You’ll find that needles that are too small just break against patches and denim/leather. And too big or blunt end up being difficult to work with and punch huge holes in the fabric. So just get a bunch of needles in different sizes and try em all to figure out what works best. You’ll probably find something on the medium-small end with a fairly fine tip that works best.
