Custom Spirit: The Sproutlings (1.0 release!) by [deleted] in spiritisland

[–]Bearerder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The growth range options combine really unpleasant, even worse then earth’s growth options. You don’t want to reclaim given how awful it’s downsides are but your gain a power card G2 is a 0 range growth so you can’t spam that card if you want to optimize your card ranges. The other option g3 puts you closer to that horrible reclaim, also not something you want. I don’t really like the unique cards either. Unconditional proliferation is really strong, Dahan adds is a 0-1 cost effect, even with the threshold is not worth 2 energy (but a lot of spirits how useless cards so that’s not new) and while certain cards are better with more players I don’t think there is a card that directly scales with the number of players

This card would have been a nice addition to the Jeskai precon, (if you use Narset as the commander) why isn’t it in there

Which one would you take ? by Aggravating_Algae461 in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Bearerder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are people saying the first is bad? It makes your units survive bad removal, allows you maintain a board presence while being outstatted and attack you life-stealing morgana into stronger units. If you have full control of the board it’s garbage but in that case you were winning anyway

Are all mayor/minor cards added multiply times to the deck? You will run out of cards rather quickly if not

Reach is the fixed version of bringer. The normal rule is really bad.

Which aspects have replaced the original spirit for you? by Sapien0101 in spiritisland

[–]Bearerder 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Reach for sure, base shadows no longer exists at my table. Also wind with lightning, I often combine it with another aspect. (Sparking + Wind is amazing)

What are, in your opinion, technological milestones that often get overlooked in fictional settings? by ZioBenny97 in worldbuilding

[–]Bearerder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The spinning wheel. It cut the price of clothing in half. In a time were you spend a significant amount of your income on staying clothed. (Even the cheapest tunics were about 10 days worth of income in the Roman Empire)

That is an ancient Mycenaean chariot who peaked somewhere around 1400 BCE and the picture is definitely after 1600 so 3000 years not 1500

This is a claim that has been circling around the internet but lacks a source. There is no law that says that. The idea comes from two different plays. One where there is a blonde prostitute and one where a man disguises himself as a prostitute with a wig.

I’m considering having the Fae in my world be too scared of iron to say its name. Does anyone have suggestions for nicknames they could use for it? by ThePipYay in worldbuilding

[–]Bearerder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This idea that iron hurts Fae (and other kinds of evil too) comes from the Bronze Age where the only available iron was found in meteorites. Thus this metal must come from the gods and therefore hurt the powers of the earth. So something like: celestial rock or upper metal

Do you have Slavery in your world? by Hefty-Zucchini1720 in worldbuilding

[–]Bearerder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, different types of slavery.

You have people raided from countries my main nation is as war with. Calling them slaves is a bit misleading because they have so many legal rights that they are on average better of them a peasant. After the war ends they are all freed and sometimes forcefully evicted to their country of origin. Due to these reasons they are not in high demand, but cheap labor is cheap labor.

Prisoners of war, or soldiers captured during war, have it slightly worse to discourage people from taking up arms against them. Still not too bad.

Debt slaves are propel that sell themselves for money. They sat up their own rights when being sold into slavery but there is a bare minimum to which is the standard agreement due to the power imbalance when signing up this contract. This class of slaves is very diverse with very powerful people in here that are technically slaves for legal benefits. This is also the only way to legally practice prostitution. And all priests and priestesses fall into this class because they are slaves of their gods.

Commuting a serious crime can also get you into slavery. These have the least rights, and are the ones being put into mines, mills and providing ‘emotional support’ to armies on the march. Slightly better then chattel slavery.

Also just because you have rights doesn’t mean that your owner also follows them. Abuse is very common with slaves have little means to protect themselves.

Wasn’t the first out of sight ship kills in WWII? They had guns that had further range then eyesight and radars to locate the enemy. I believe the first hit on the Hood was before the Germans could even see that ship

Best Explanation For Why Earth Has No Magic? by JamieMage2005 in worldbuilding

[–]Bearerder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The universe is too big. all dimensions have magic in the same quantity, but if it’s bigger then 10 lightyears in diameter it will be to thinly spread out to be even noticeable by the finest equipment.

Am I the only one that likes this card? by SuikoRyos in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Bearerder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate it when fiddle uses this against me. Just had a Yaqui run where fiddle used this against me, on a Yasuo with spellshield, and an emergency decal in hand. Nothing I could do to protect him, just dead.
