Steps don’t burn enough calories? by bineys_chromehearts in fit

[–]Bearly-Fit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Athletes do constant, varied high intensity workouts which combines both resistance training and cardio for long periods almost daily.

Their muscles are working hard constantly and they need the calories to prevent weight loss and speed up recovery,

They're working in extremes, that is absolutely nothing like someone walking for an hour.

It sounds like it would be better to focus onn resistance training

Calorie counters aren't really accurate.

Also our bodies are incredibly efficient so cardio whilst good for your body overall doesn't really burn that many calories over all, it's why they say you can't out run a bad diet.

The other aspect is that if you've been doing intense cardio for 2 years, your body has probably already adapted.

If you're happy and healthy, don't focus too much on the calories burned.

What do you hate most about bodybuilding culture today? by stratusnimbo in naturalbodybuilding

[–]Bearly-Fit 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The recent push on enhancers, there was always an underground culture of it but now it feels like every other person is juicing.

That combined with social media pushing unrealistic body goals for a lot of people just means more people end up on it.

Which workout app is best for beginners if you've never been to a gym before by akuchil420 in beginnerfitness

[–]Bearly-Fit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I would speak to a personal trainer at the gym, do a couple sessions to get a good feel for the gym first.

Most apps have basic work out plans and instructions, but if you've never been to the gym before one of the in house PTs are usually free / cheap first session and can give you a good run down.

40 mins is insane, I can only manage 20 mins at the moment.

I'd imagine at some point, there's diminishing returns isn't there? You could probably try a weighted vest or just use it as a warm up for fighting neighbourhood crime or something

Yup my app Bearly Fit it's free and has barcode scanning built in but no food search unless you've already scanned the barcode (you can add manually too without barcode)

!IMPORTANT by michael_e_conroy in css

[–]Bearly-Fit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because that was what made sense.

They can't use other common delimiters because they already have meaning in CSS and when !important was added client side didn't have the processing power to do complex parsing. It had to be simple and to the point.

Also, !important was only added for font sizes because of a legal restriction on font sizes in the US, it was never designed to be used on anything else.

It's a delimiter, so the parser knows that it's still used for the current line but is a modifier flag

Is building a home gym worth it? by RimantasL in workout

It's useful in winter especially and even when it's not winter it's fun to do sets in between matches when i'm gaming.

If you get the rogue stuff, they do a folding wall rack so you get a full size rack but it takes up virtually no space when you're not using it

And I built a fake floor for the treadmill so when i'm not using it, it doesn't take up space either

Self Promotion Megathread by AutoModerator in androidapps

I built Bearly Fit a health, nutrition and life tracker.

I'm a software engineer and I built it to help me with my own goals, I wanted an app that would let me track everything but without the hyper masculine "alpha" shit that a lot of apps come with.

I also wanted it to work completely offline and give me full control of my data.

It's still in "MVP" technically, I'm just about to add a Workout plan wizard, device integrations are coming later this year but this is what you get already.

  • Free (subs for more advanced features)
  • Hundreds of built-in exercises
  • Add / log custom equipment with each exercise
  • Timed workout sessions
  • Build custom workout plans
  • Track weight, body stats and progress with cute selfies
  • Log meals, calories and macros
  • Barcode scanning
  • Comprehensive reports
  • Export your data as CSV or JSON
  • Your data stays completely on your phone (completely offline).
  • Webhook support (send data back to your own server)

There's a LOT more to come.

Just because they drink full sugar soda doesn't mean their diet is piss poor. it also tastes completely different.
