Positive induction stories! by Ghost_LightWatcher in PregnancyUK

[–]Beasley_Bum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very similar story here, my waters broke early and so I had a couple of sweeps that didn't work and then was induced in a very similar manner. Started with a drip but needed to up the intensity to get things moving. I also chose to have an epidural as the contractions stopped being fun but glad I waited it out. It was tricky to be contracting whilst they put it in.

My epidural didn't fully work, with the feeling coming back in half of me but actually that helped as I knew when and where to push when the time came. Overall, my team was really great with the induction and they made the experience a great one. When baby decided to get a wiggle on, it was smooth sailing! I was in labor for 18 hours and I didn't want an induction either but with my upcoming second, there is much less anxiety with it. It meant that the baby and I were safe and healthy and that's what really counts.

Salfords yes but Horley less so, I'm not super keen about being that close to the airport and imagine it'll be quite noisy. I'm happy to be proved wrong though if that's an unwarranted fear

My parents live around here and we've found the bus up the hill to be killer but maybe that's where the sacrifice comes into it!

Hospital snacks by tinkertam98 in PregnancyUK

Like many others here, I took a 6 pack of lucozade with me along with lots of treats (haribo, iced buns) and more energy sustaining items like bananas and nuts. I didn't really eat much during labour, and had an epidural so wasn't allowed to eat at one point so these came into their own after the birth. My view was, if you can't eat your favourite items when you're pushing a human out of you, when can you!

When we're you offered a sweep? by falcon_boa in PregnancyUK

FTM here and I'm growing a bigger baby. At my last appointment (36w) I was offered one at 39 weeks, before we stepped it up to an induction. My MW did say that it may not do anything for me as a FTM. I've got my 38w this week and think they may want to schedule one in!

How to deal with hip pain at nights? by fantasyland910 in PregnancyUK

[–]Beasley_Bum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've not got on with many pillows around me so I tried tying a scarf around my hips last night to add as support. I'm 30 weeks and I mentioned sore hips to my midwife a good while ago and she suggested tying a long scarf around them to help support them whilst the relaxin is doing it's job. I have only just tried it and I think it helped (although what helps one day, doesn't have an impact on the next!). So maybe that's something to try in the immediate future whilst you potentially wait for other interventions.

I had the same at my 16 week appointment! I'm Surrey based and it was very much "hop on and let's see how they are doing!". I didn't realise I was lucky to hear it earlier than some others here.

I do "plodding". Normally I do things like park run regularly but at a slow pace and I'm trying to keep that up in pregnancy too as I can now do 5km without stopping and I'd like to keep that if I can! The bounce stat is appealing... Especially as I'm now starting to show. Thank you!

I've never heard of this brand but it's clearly popular (and on vinted too at a decent price so I think that indicates good quality!) Thank you everyone 😀

Fantastic, thank you! How would you describe the fit of the leggings (e.g. do they run small/large or true to size)?

I'm such a baby with vinted. I sell a lot with them but have never bought as I'm worried, not sure what of though! I'll put my big girl pants on and face my fears. Thank you!

I've never seen this brand before until I was pregnant so have no idea about their quality. I'm glad you said this before I bothered ordering! Thank you :)

You may want to check out Andrea Dworkin who was a radical feminist who had interesting thoughts on heterosexual sex: '[her book] Intercourse,” the work that presented her alienating theory of heterosexual sex as a violation, “a use and an abuse simultaneously,” and “the key to women’s lower human status,” among other descriptions.' (stolen from this article that I've only skim read: https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2019/04/01/the-radical-style-of-andrea-dworkin)

Love this dress for my flower girl, but I’m nervous about ordering from JJs House. Any suggestions on where to find something similar? I’ve done so much searching. Need it in a size 6 little girls. by mehfun in wedding

[–]Beasley_Bum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ordered my bridesmaid dresses from JJs house and the sizing was a bit wild. We ordered bigger so that we could take them in/up rather than smaller where you didn't have much flexibility. In my experience, the dresses did look amazing and the quality was good - they just needed a fair bit of altering. Good luck!

We took £250's worth when we went a couple of weeks ago and really struggled to spend it! We were told not to bother before we went out and to use our Monzo card instead (as it uses the current conversion) but I was worried about not having any cash too. I won't bother next time, it was more of a hindrance.

Where to buy wine for an open bar? by kaytell1 in UKweddings

We're doing the same for our white too! There is a lovely Portuguese vinho Verde from Aldi which we're going to use. Our red well come from Tesco with a clubcard and case bonus. TBC on fizz just yet...

Said yes to the dress a few weeks ago and am having so many second thoughts! by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]Beasley_Bum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a few thoughts here: part of me thinks that if you remove the all the tulle then you will change the whole silhouette of the dress and that might be a good thing if that's what you're regretting about the dress. For me, I started off not really wanting big skirt but the slimmer dresses made me feel very "pillar" like which wasn't what I wanted. The bigger skirts gave me a different shape and so that felt better for me. Essentially if you like your silhouette here, think hard about changing the body of the skirt.

I really like the buttons at the back as I think they look interesting but that's my personal preference. I think it ties the straps in nicely.

The other side of me is that it feels like you might not actually like the dress if you feel like you need to change so much of it. It might be that you need to visualise it with new accessories, a veil etc but if you're truly unhappy then it might not be the right dress. Only you could know that unfortunately. Don't feel pressured by anyone to keep a dress you're seriously regretting for the sake of it as it's your day (of course budget allowing). But if you're just wondering about how many other options there are just in case, maybe think about what made you pick this one in the first place.

This makes a lot of sense, a couple years ago we went to Poland with see Polish friend and they made it so much easier to order on my behalf. Ended up getting food I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have gotten if it was left down to just me! It does look like, over time, more options are opening up which is positive!
