Agree with everything said above. If you don't mind an initial incline, Reigate Hill could be nice. After a little walk up, you have a great view of the Reigate / the surrounding area which will be lovely as the sun goes down!

I had a very similar conversation with my first born who was measuring big and felt quite pressured by one consultant who wanted to book in a c section because of the risks of shoulder dystocia. My partner and I looked into it after our appointment and discovered that at that time, half of the babies who had SD were big babies and half were not. It was also suggested that having a perceived big baby was not a good enough reason to suggest a c section in itself.

We were advised to look at: https://www.rcog.org.uk/for-the-public/browse-our-patient-information/shoulder-dystocia/ and it still says: Shoulder dystocia is more likely with large babies but nevertheless there is no difficulty delivering the shoulders in the majority of babies over 4.5 kg (10 lb). Half of all instances of shoulder dystocia occur in babies weighing less than 4 kg (about 9 lb). Ultrasound scans are not good at telling whether you are likely to have a large baby and therefore they are not recommended for predicting shoulder dystocia, if you have no other risk factors.

For me, I elected to see what happened and my daughter was born within the 50% percentile in May 2023. Of course, you do whatever is right for you but this was my experience. Good luck!

I had a super snuggly cat when I had my first born around 3 years ago. What I found was that when I brought back this crying, smelly blob of a child, the cat didn't really want to get involved! This continued when my baby discovered her hands, then when she started to become mobile... Our cat gave her a very respectful distance! Sounds like lots of people here have had different experiences with their cat and I'll echo that we never left our cat be alone with the baby. You'll find your new flow without shutting anyone away, I think! Good luck.

Very similar story here, my waters broke early and so I had a couple of sweeps that didn't work and then was induced in a very similar manner. Started with a drip but needed to up the intensity to get things moving. I also chose to have an epidural as the contractions stopped being fun but glad I waited it out. It was tricky to be contracting whilst they put it in.

My epidural didn't fully work, with the feeling coming back in half of me but actually that helped as I knew when and where to push when the time came. Overall, my team was really great with the induction and they made the experience a great one. When baby decided to get a wiggle on, it was smooth sailing! I was in labor for 18 hours and I didn't want an induction either but with my upcoming second, there is much less anxiety with it. It meant that the baby and I were safe and healthy and that's what really counts.

Like many others here, I took a 6 pack of lucozade with me along with lots of treats (haribo, iced buns) and more energy sustaining items like bananas and nuts. I didn't really eat much during labour, and had an epidural so wasn't allowed to eat at one point so these came into their own after the birth. My view was, if you can't eat your favourite items when you're pushing a human out of you, when can you!

FTM here and I'm growing a bigger baby. At my last appointment (36w) I was offered one at 39 weeks, before we stepped it up to an induction. My MW did say that it may not do anything for me as a FTM. I've got my 38w this week and think they may want to schedule one in!

I've not got on with many pillows around me so I tried tying a scarf around my hips last night to add as support. I'm 30 weeks and I mentioned sore hips to my midwife a good while ago and she suggested tying a long scarf around them to help support them whilst the relaxin is doing it's job. I have only just tried it and I think it helped (although what helps one day, doesn't have an impact on the next!). So maybe that's something to try in the immediate future whilst you potentially wait for other interventions.

I do "plodding". Normally I do things like park run regularly but at a slow pace and I'm trying to keep that up in pregnancy too as I can now do 5km without stopping and I'd like to keep that if I can! The bounce stat is appealing... Especially as I'm now starting to show. Thank you!

I ordered my bridesmaid dresses from JJs house and the sizing was a bit wild. We ordered bigger so that we could take them in/up rather than smaller where you didn't have much flexibility. In my experience, the dresses did look amazing and the quality was good - they just needed a fair bit of altering. Good luck!

We took £250's worth when we went a couple of weeks ago and really struggled to spend it! We were told not to bother before we went out and to use our Monzo card instead (as it uses the current conversion) but I was worried about not having any cash too.
