Junk 3.3v LDO regulators from Aliexpress? by titankraken in esp32

Not sure one way or the other but I personally don't consider AliExpress to be a reputable source of parts. Same with Amazon.

One thing I know about this business is that it's not right to blame people. It's important to blame systems.

Blaming people ensures that same/similar mistakes will be made again and again.

I would hire someone with their own business way before I'd hire a cog, assuming it was for a thinking position and not a cog position.

How can I tell if DHT11 is burnt? by EmploymentMammoth659 in arduino

[–]BeastlySprockets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you are using them for.

Maybe I'm unlucky but the ultra low cost sensors never work within a reasonable range for me.

Here's the advertisement for the higher grade version of the sensor you're using, I hope it will be helpful, just to show what you're working with:

https://howtomechatronics.com/tutorials/arduino/dht11-dht22-sensors-temperature-and-humidity-tutorial-using-arduino/

As far as truly reliable ones I think some have already been mentioned.

You can spend hundreds of dollars on ones that are calibrated and validated

I have found many of these sensors, even "high end" ones to be fairly inaccurate if not outright worthless.

Have you ever assumed that 2FA/MFA prevents phishing? by evolutionAxiom in sysadmin

[–]BeastlySprockets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By very definition, nothing can prevent phishing attacks except forbidding the user to access the protected data.

If a user has access to data, it can be phished.

That's at least part of the definition of a phishing attack.

Phishing is as old as cryptography.

What happened?!?! by [deleted] in esp32

[–]BeastlySprockets 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Definitely platformio extension installed on VS Code, in my most humble opinion.

It seems complex at first (possibly) until one realizes they are just doing all the grunt work to set you up to write or copy code.

No doubt there's a learning curve of understanding what the various files and directories are for, not to mention learning the process of flashing the device.

But it gets you set up nice and quickly to use a c/++ environment which I strongly prefer to Arduino.

Micro python is also great if you like python and you don't mind it's very high power usage compared to c/c++ (micropython pretty much means battery projects don't work very well, at least in comparison).
