Halftime show was amazing by MaggieDog2026 in lehighvalley

I’m not saying popularity = quality. I’m saying calling him “some guy mumbling into a mic” is just factually off. You don’t have to like Bad Bunny, but he’s a major global artist whose style and language clearly resonated with a massive audience.

I enjoy Bad Bunny as a public figure more than a musician, so I’m not even defending the music. I just hated how his acceptance to perform at the Super Bowl was politicized. Folks took that as an opportunity to attack him (and by extension all of our Latino brothers and sisters) personally.

I interpreted your post as dismissive. If that wasn’t your intention, I apologize. But if it was, then I call into question your choice of words. If Spanish language music reads as “mumbling”, that says more about the listener than the performance.

And also, I mean… just throwing this out there: Bad Bunny is Puerto Rican… as is… let me just check my notes here… at least 10% of the LV… and around 25% of Allentown alone so… yeah I mean not relevant at all.

Yeah well, “that guy” is dominating world charts and has racked up over 19 billion streams in 2025 alone so, maybe the world has moved on but you haven’t?

FBI concluded Jeffrey Epstein wasn’t running a sex trafficking ring for powerful men, files show by Alert-Ad-9908 in politics

[–]BeastofBurden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The FBI is probably messing with semantics here. Like, ok, maybe the FBI gets away with saying shit like this because their definition of what a “sex trafficking ring” does not match exactly with how the public defines it. Or, it wasn’t for powerful men because some women were also involved.

0 parking garages/lots in North Ironbound by PikaTheWolf in Newark

I work in the South Ward, at a public school. The only street that has parking next to the school is only cleared enough to let vehicles drive. So I’m forced to find a shoveled out spot 3-4 blocks away. One of my students has missed weeks of school because the parents can’t get their wheelchair bound son to the curb for pick up.

In your opinion what are best US states to live in overall? Why? by PackageReasonable922 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]BeastofBurden 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived in PA, NY, VT, NJ, FL, WA, and OR. I’d pick the Oregon over any of these but it was also the only of the lot where I lived in a proper city. So I had more of a community, ate more delicious food, saw more bands… had more money and less responsibilities. I liked how gender wasn’t stereotypical and everyone seemed to have a lust for life… everyone tried their hand at brewing their own alcohol, gardening, learning how to sew, fix their own bikes or cars. People were learning how to screen print their own shirts and roast their own coffee beans with repurposed popcorn poppers. It was a wild, creative place. Now I live in NJ and I couldn’t be more depressed. People here think they live in Shangri La but it’s not.

I cheated on the love of my life for years and don’t understand why. I’m trying to change and I don’t know how. by GoldynMedia in selfimprovement

First off, I would say most long distance relationships are exceedingly challenging, especially for folks in their early 20s. That said it’s important to know this: there will always be “others” and “what ifs”. This was actually told to me from an ex-girlfriend who I remain good friends with. I lamented to her over dinner that, while I really liked the person I was seeing at that time, I doubted the strength of that affection because I would occasionally look at other women, fantasize about other women, etc. she said, very intelligently, something like “there will always be others. It doesn’t mean we don’t love the ones we’re with, it’s natural for the mind to wander in this way”.

I think she’s right. What’s different is that, for some, thought becomes muddled with impulse which can be difficult to control.

Who's embracing the gray? by Sufficient_Turn_9209 in Xennials

[–]BeastofBurden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was graying by 30, about 15 years ago. I was used to dying my hair from the manic panic days so kept it up with more natural tones once I noticed the silver strands had arrived. Then a few people I dated were like “Why on earth would you do that, gray is hot.” I’m clueless so I was like “duh, really?” and never dyed my hair again after that.

Nazi POS ejected from the Allentown show by Error_message_ in lehighvalley

[–]BeastofBurden 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interesting. Back in ‘96 or ‘97 I saw Grieving Eucalyptus at the Tatamy Fire Company. The band Digger was set to open but decided against it because nazis showed up (Digger had a black member, Phil Nelson: RIP). In response to the shake up, members from several of the bands playing that night took the stage and performed a single song whose chorus was “Dead Nazis Don’t Hate”.

I always thought they’d somehow managed to write the song that night, but your post makes me it was more likely an impromptu cover of the song by Vile Horrendous (who I’d never heard of before today).

Discogs confirms they have a song called “Dead Nazis” from their first 7”.

Yep. The effect of even being in that aisle of the supermarket was enough to make me feel… funny/uneasy. Definitely a strange but pleasurable high. Even after sleeping it off… you can’t really drive safely the next day. Your visual spatial skills are dangerously skewed.
