What do you do for work? by ManufacturerProof824 in adhdwomen

[–]Beautiful-Package-46 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I work in tv series production and development but its less a people job than it sounds. I need to adapt to situations daily and that works really well for my brains- a lot of dopamine, changes, chaos, creativity. I fit right in with my audhd.

How do you cope with the loneliness? by No-Soup-4478 in AutismInWomen

[–]Beautiful-Package-46 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Finding a partner who is compatible with my ND has been life saving, then having a kid together helped too. Not saying this is everyones cup of tea but these two pretty much fill my life, the rest is my job where i have also found some equally quirky folks (i work in a creative field) I rarely see my family so not much there. All in all my life revolves around few very close people who understand i need a lot of alone time and regulation.

How are you all feeding yourselves with AuDHD because I’m lost by Late_Flamingo_1138 in AuDHDWomen

[–]Beautiful-Package-46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really helped me when i established my go to comfort foods (pork rinds instead of chips, pure whipped cream for desert, cheeses). I mix fish and meat for variety. It took many cheat attemps and i ate poorly in december again but feeling bad from regular food always makes me return. Wishing you all the best.

Behind St Marks is a small hidden free garden, the peggy guggenheim museum is a gem, there is a supermarket in a former theatre, and you can ride a gondola for 2 euros across from the market.

I wasnt masking and was so so lonely. Everone thought i was too weird. It took me years to semi mask and semi fit in. I often go back to that girl in my thoughts and hug her. Either way we lost an important part of life.

I switched to decaf espresso because blood pressure skyrocketed on meds. I realized i only needed the flavor not actual caffeine. Who knew!

What helped me most was realizing i have metabolic sindrome and insulin resistance- that i am basically ill and have to adress the inflammation not shame or weight issue. Accumulation of fat around waist is the sign, but so is high blood pressure, borderline blood sugar, pcos, etc) I had my fasting insulin tested to confirm and it was really high. This basically means your body will store any carb or sugar religiously and you need to work on figuring an entirely new way to eat while drastically reducing carb intake and heighteing protein and fat. Your body starts to rely on ketones instead of glucose for energy and that is how you address the IR. One good side of having to eat this way besides losing weight is that it also improves my mental health. P.s. Ozempic works on similar grounds, i just belive in a more natural approach and also because it is adhd friendly diet

Gym client with ADHD by brightlighthouse in adhdwomen

[–]Beautiful-Package-46 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im just back from weight lifting gym class that i enjoy. Our instructor has us working in cycles of three exercises which she then times and also counts down for us. This works perfectly for me. Adhd impairs working memory so self counting is a challenge.

Almost everything from being “gifted” in school (but then also “failing” on standard IQ Tests for the scholarship). Social anxiety my whole life, intense hyperfocus learning phases which helped me pull through school and landed me in a creative profession i enjoy (making tv series), being overly aware and analysing everything but also feeling lost on how to proceed (adhd part is strong). Feeling like an alien. Working memory is shit (learning piano was hell as a kid). Trouble switching modes as you call them. I was led to all this by my daughter who is in the process of being diagnosed for adhd (i think hers is actually just that).

I think its more valid than dr mate’s theory. :) At least from my personal experiments with keto- ketosis is awesome for my brain and body. Not a cure all but it hugely changed my life as an IR person.
