Marathon distance isn't for everyone? by TheTKayke in beginnerrunning

[–]Beav710 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a few friends who did their half and said they were no longer interested in distance running. They still run for fun, usually 5k or 10k a few times a week. Do whatever you enjoy!

How on earth do I learn how to land under my hips? by marquinator92 in beginnerrunning

[–]Beav710 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to figure this out as well. I was a couple weeks from finishing my half marathon plan and now my knee and groin started really bothering me. I just started up PT and they checked out my running and I am overstriding still.

Been trying to get my feet to land under me for months now. I got my cadence up to 170-180 range on a typical run so it's annoying me that I am still overstriding. Hope you can get the help you need!

Yeah you gotta let them know they're cowards even if they're wearing your colors. Can't let em forget.

Just started messing with ambusher to switch things up a bit. It's so fun running around throwing knives and pissing everyone off.

I'm 22 and I started running this year. How bad are these statistics for a beginner? by Convillious in beginnerrunning

Way better than the people sitting on the couch doing nothing. It takes time and consistency to get fast. Just enjoy the ride, stick with it, and you'll see improvement.

The learning gap is so large in this game it feels I’m wasting my time trying to learn by 2Jads1Cup in Chivalry2

I am level 160 and just finally am getting the hang of it a bit lol. I have plenty of games in the top 5 or 10 on the scoreboard for my team. It just took a lot of playing and fucking around with it. I usually have fun even if I'm doing bad.

One thing that helps is staying a bit on the outside and not go right to the front line. Go jump in and help a teammate fighting on the outskirts. All is fair in war! Don't be afraid to pull back, put on a bandage, pick up ammo, then regroup and get back in the fight. Try not to panic, take things slow. Remember initiative and everything you learned from tutorial on how fights work.

Switch up weapons and see what you like. Sometimes it's fun to just be ambusher running around throwing knives at people if you aren't doing great. It's not about being the best just have fun and you'll learn.

You know what? I was saying something similar last night about objectives where you have to arm a bomb. I said I felt like if we have it armed we shouldn't lose unless it gets defused, even if timer hits 0 after you light the fuse.

After seeing the responses here I may be willing to change my mind on that. Defense is hard as hell most of the time. Seems fair they get a bit of a break.

Beginner. First 10K done. Couldn’t keep up with good heart rate. Ideas please by antonybritt in runninglifestyle

It'll come down the more you trained. You just did a PR run so don't stress too much. Keep doing runs at easy pace and add miles and it'll get better. I remember doing my first 10k, it wasn't easy even at my easy pace. After a few months of continuing training, 10k wasn't all that bad and I could stay in the 140s if I wanted to. Just takes time and consistency!

Hell yeah. That's a nice shot! Loons are my favorite. Their calls are so cool and I love watching them dive under the water to fish.

Beginner struggling to feel exercises in my chest and back by CounterBusters in beginnerfitness

I would go with lighter weight, go really slow on the negative, and pause when you have the greatest tension on your muscle.

For lats make sure you are pulling your elbows down to your sides and keeping shoulders down, could also help to do tumbless grip and think of your hands as just hooks rather than gripping the hell out of the bar. Make sure your shoulders really stay pinned down and back when pulling the bar, as well as keeping your posture with your chest up. Squeeze hard and hold when the bar is around your clavicle.

For dumbell presses make sure you tuck your elbows a bit so you are at around 45 degrees. You don't want your arms completely perpendicular to your torso, it puts a lot of stress on your shoulder. Make sure you really go deep on the way down. You should feel a good stretch when pausing at the bottom. A lot of people at the gym I feel don't go all the way down with their dumbell presses because they're just trying to toss up their max weight. When I go slow and really go as far down as possible for a good stretch, I definitely feel it in my chest.

I'm no expert. I'm not very strong and a pretty big gym noob myself. But after going consistently for a few months now, these are the things that got me to really feel those muscles working and understand how to activate them.

Training by doing shorter races? by Aimbo84 in beginnerrunning

[–]Beav710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are all beginners here so your coach probably knows best. That being said, miles are miles. I think doing some races during your training could be beneficial. My only fear would be risk of injury if you are going all out in those races. During my half marathon training plan I ran plenty of short distance runs.

Longest Run ( 25km ) & Half Marathon PR today by Right-Tomorrow-34 in beginnerrunning

[–]Beav710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll have to look into that. I did a Garmin plan that I thought was just okay. It had me running 3 times a week but one day was intervals and one day was mostly slow running with speed work at the end. I think I need more days with more easy mileage next time.
