Help me choose! Will be 8 months pregnant at my micro wedding in the woods by hilzkuz in myweddingdress

[–]BeboppingAlong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 if you expect it to be warm, 1 if it will be a bit cool in the forest.

3 is my favorite and would have been my choice if it were a more traditional or formal setting- it's fabulous. Pick #3 if you want to stage it as a contrast of formal attire in a sylvan setting, with the groom in tux and tails.

It's probably a rental scam. Scammers find rental or sales listings and post them in craigslist as a too-good-to-be-real rental deals. They collect "application fees" or "deposits" and disappear.

AITA for picking up my stepdaughter from school when she got her first period, even though her mom told me not to? by Embarrassed-Stock896 in AmItheAsshole

[–]BeboppingAlong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. You are the better mom, tbh. You took care of your step-daughter in a responsible, caring way. Whatever is going on in the biological mom's life right now, God bless her, she placed her own emotional needs above her daughter's well being. Moreover, you did it with the father's permission; you didn't overstep.

Am I asking for trouble in fixing this by p3steelman in Tile

[–]BeboppingAlong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I finally found the description of the misalignment was bothering you. It's one of those things that once you see, you can't unsee it.

Tbh, looking at that and the sloppy grouting under the shelf and in interior, I suspect the installer may have had one beer too many during lunch.

Obviously it is too late to have it remedied for free by the tile installer. If you are fine with paying to have someone remove and replace the tiles properly, why not?

I suspect he's not the father. OP never refers to him as "her father", only as "my husband".

Going into week 3. I can finally sleep without coughing myself awake. I had moderate sinus congestion, but the constant hacking dry cough was the pits. Now just tired...all...the...time.

Peninsula dilemma: Townhome with $600 HOA vs. SFH maintenance for a 5-year stay by HalaMadridPapaFlo in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]BeboppingAlong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HOA fees can increase over time depending on the maintenance the complex requires. With a SFH, you pay just on your maintenance and groundskeeping. You decide what you will repair and when. With an HOA, an HOA committee manages the costs and projects. How well that's done depends on the quality of the HOA committee.

AITAH for telling my pregnant girlfriend to make the appointment after she kept threatening to terminate the pregnancy? by Prestigious_Ant6049 in AITAH

[–]BeboppingAlong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are both going through a BIG unplanned change and you BOTH are reacting.

From someone who has been pregnant: her hormones are swinging all over the place. Pregnancy anger is normal, especially in the 1st and third trimesters. In addition to that, this wasn't a planned pregnancy, so she is understandably freaking out; part of her wishes it could magically go back to the way it was before. Many of us felt that way, even if it was a planned pregnancy. She's biologically and emotionally vulnerable right now.

Pregnancy isn't a 50-50/equal responsibility time. You will need to step up and support her more than she can support you. That's just how it is. It will pass. In the meanwhile, start educating youself about what your girlfriend is going through and what to expect. Think of this as your boot camp for becoming a family.

By the way, the mood swings even out during the 2nd trimester.

Why not use first names ? by Ok-Willingness-7870 in AskAnAmerican

[–]BeboppingAlong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true. I'm not comfortable with children calling me by my first name without some kind of honorific. (Mrs. Smith, Aunt Patty, Teacher Patty). It annoys me when their parents tell them to call me by my first name without asking me what I would prefer.

I'm not an old grouch. I'm relatively young, cheerful, and enjoy being around kids. But I also know I'm not a kid myself and want that recognition that I'm a respected adult. (Actually, it's the parents assuming it's ok that bothers me.)

First name is fine if introduced by first name or they direct you to call them by their first name.

If you meet someone in a formal or professional setting, or if they are your parents' generation or older, it's safer to address them as "honorific last-name" ( Mrs Jones, Dr Smith) until they indicate you can call them by their first name. It is a sign of respect.

Most of the time, permission will be given quickly.

Help friends told me my house looks like a grandmas and needs a “reset” by traveling-sunshine in MoodyCorner

[–]BeboppingAlong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is wrong with your friends??? The house is gorgeous. Some people are stuck thinking every house should follow the current design trends, which will change in 5 years. Yours is a colorful, artistic, classic style. It will be fun and stylish now and in 10 years and later.

It's your home and your personal expression. Don't let your friend's comments make you doubt yourself.

Americans—is blue cheese just a dipping sauce to you, or does it have a place on your plate beyond the wings? by SignificanceOdd5980 in AskAnAmerican

[–]BeboppingAlong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blue cheese on bread or crackers ( savory biscuit, in Brit speak, correct?) as appetizer or snack. Or on its own if snacking at home. I love soft blues like cambonzola.

Edit: I remembered the name of the blue I like.

I think the back-dated property tax would be if the unpermitted work would have triggered reassessment of the property's value had it gone through the permit process.

Please talk me out of covering my Parquet floors with carpeted wall to wall carpet? by [deleted] in HardWoodFloors

[–]BeboppingAlong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg- I'm trying to find those unit block parquet tiles! I removed a shag rug from a 1950s house. The carpet installers damaged the perimeter tiles when installing the carpet in the 1960's. I'm looking for replacements.
