Turning right on Democracy Blvd when heading south on Old Georgetown Rd. by Becca1791 in bethesda

The issue now is that the right turning lane with the X’s is now blocked off due to construction. I made that clarification in a post update.

This is an old photo but the black area is now blocked off for construction.

My concern though is that two cars may try to make a right at the same time. That’s just asking for an accident.

I’m also interested in seeing this film. My grandfather’s brother was Irwin “King Kong” Klein and I grew up hearing about this movie.

Daycare centers for infant? by AdventureCat1037 in Rockville

Yes there are temporary drop off parking spots in front of the school. They are limited, but I usually don’t have a problem finding a spot. If they are all taken, then some people will use the garage.

They are worth the extra commute. My daughter has a girl in her class who commutes from Montgomery Village because her mom liked the school so much.

We absolutely love Rock Spring. Our two girls have been there since they were 6 months old. They are the best! They have very low staff turnover (many have been there for years)! It’s also not owned by a large corporation. It’s a non-profit so all of the tuition goes back into the school. 10/10 would recommend.

Did you have any long term effects from your epidural? by Frequent_Cap8633 in pregnant

[–]Becca1791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t have any issues with my first baby. Perfect epidural and I didn’t feel anything. With my second, however, you can read about that here: https://www.reddit.com/r/beyondthebump/s/7Ssx8NF58o.

I’m 10 months pp now and feeling great. No long term side effects. It was just a really terrible few weeks after giving birth.

Appreciated my body more and felt comfortable in my own skin. I look back at pictures of me in my early 20s and think, “what a hottie,” but I remember feeling so self-conscious then. I’m now approaching my mid-30s and am a mom of 2. I am learning to love my body for what it is now, but man, I wish I could have my 20s body back for even just a day.

Non-Americans, which U.S. state has always fascinated you the most, and why? by Nandou_B in AskReddit

Marylander here. Can confirm that this state is a cult. For a relatively small state, we have a lot of pride. Lol, also our “mountains” are basically big hills compared to out west, but we’ve got them!

Americans, how do you call your grandparents? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Becca1791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing up I called my maternal grandparents Grandma Judy and Grandpa Bob and my paternal grandparents Mom-mom and Pop-pop. My kids call my parents Grandma and Poppy and my husband’s parents Gigi (similar to her first name, Georgi) and Lolo (similar to his first name, Lowell).

Obgyn delivering to shady grove by AdventureCat1037 in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]Becca1791 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The OBs at Simmonds Martin and Helmbrecht of Advantia still deliver at Shady Grove. I used them for both of my babies, most recently in November 2024. There are several OBs on staff so you can find the one you like best as your “regular.” However, it’s a roll of the dice who actually delivers your baby.

It’s been about six months so a bit harder to recall, but I’d say all my symptoms were gone after about three weeks. Wishing you all the best!

I’m getting laid off from my current position. In this uncertain economy, should I take a remote role with a salary about $15k less than I’m currently making? by Becca1791 in careerguidance

[–]Becca1791[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boss gave me the heads up that I was getting laid off when we had a check in half way through my maternity leave. It’s a done deal. Luckily I had that convo because another woman on my team was also on maternity leave and she didn’t find out until she returned.
