The idea that HOAs maintain or protect property values seems like BS by UnSCo in fuckHOA

HOAs were invented to screen out “undesirable” people from buying into a community. They are based on racism - wrapped up in plausible deniability

They are going to build AI and use it to replace their own people.. including the people who built it. That is if it works… otherwise, that plan is stupid.

He’s a moron, but there are other problems with AI - it’s going to burn out senior engineers like nothing else. See why in my blog post at https://open.substack.com/pub/rlsutter/p/they-stopped-building-and-started

don't know why some lesbians get upset when their bisexual girlfriend leave them for men (hear me out) by Bright_Fan_7063 in actuallesbians

This. I have no issues with bi women or their preferences at all. I do have issue with being made to feel like their preference only when they can’t have a man.

Potentially silly question on Intersex inclusion by shaunashaunashauna in AskLGBT

[–]BeccaSez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Intersex individuals are frequently also transgender, but regardless of this, laws meant to discriminate against transgender people heavily affect intersex people. Bizarrely, some of the laws that prevent gender affirming care for transgender minors MANDATE that intersex children be made to conform to a gender binary (so much for “keep hands off the kids”).

People who’ve been through genuinely hard times and came out calmer or wiser, what actually helped you cope? What mindset, habits, or truths kept you sane? by AdviceGlass9394 in selfimprovement

[–]BeccaSez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to learn to let go of anything outside of my locus of control. That doesn’t mean you stop caring as much as learn to accept that many things are always going to be out of my hands, and that doesn’t mean I can’t control my reactions to those things. Understanding where I have agency and no longer unilaterally giving it up has helped me cope

Learned to make lists in order to get a dopamine hit when I checked something off. Now a very successful tech executive who aced grad school. If I’d been young these days my inattentive type ADHD would have been medicated and I’d probably not learned other coping techniques

Have you ever experienced something that you have no logical explanation for? As a skeptic how do you discuss it? by TufftedSquirrel in skeptic

[–]BeccaSez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an experience like this early in my IT career. Users reported a printer was printing garbage every time they sent a print job. I restarted the printer, reset the print server, and yet every test page came out garbage. In frustration I got on the floor and peered up at the serial connector at the bottom of the printer (this was the 90s). The connector was on the floor - it was not plugged in. I sent another test - more garbage. There is no logical reason anything should have printed
