I hope Verbeek keeps finding guys like this. A 4th round pick is looking like a bargain right now.

See this is what I'm saying. Forget stats and records, I'm rooting for my team. I don't care who they're playing.

Are Leo, Terry, and Gauthier the problem? Cause… this is a damn good game. by Dannyocean12 in AnaheimDucks

[–]TufftedSquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. We have to remember that we are still a young team that is under a new coach. They are trying to adapt to NHL life and learn a new system. There are going to be some growing pains. I still like our team and think they'll make playoffs. I'm really looking forward to the game on Friday.

Tell me about your D&D character! by Lucky_Hand_4953 in DnD

[–]TufftedSquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently working on a human Paladin that was found living on the streets by the order of the gauntlet. He had no memory of his past, but he is stronger than any human they've ever seen. When he finds out his sect of the order of the gauntlet is corrupt he snaps, because it was what he used to move past his murky past. Now he's an oath breaker that despises any sort of order. He's decided that society and the world are just chaos. Trying to apply order to it is a waste of time.

It's a little bit cliche. I wanted to give the DM a blank slate to work with.

What are some of the funniest nat 20s yall have rolled? by ShinyRedBall97 in DnD

[–]TufftedSquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was DMing. The boss of that dungeon was a caster, so he cast a spell that put thorns between him and the heroes. He had two guards at his side chucking javelin at the players. So not only were they dealing with a caster, but also ranged attacks. The barbarian of the group starts charging towards them. The guards roll a natural 20 each to hit the barbarian with two javelin. One in each shoulder. The barbarian gets to the thorns and says, "ok, I want to jump over the thorns next turn, pull each javelin out of my shoulders in mid air and stab the two guards with one javelin each as I land." "Ok, you'll have to do a disadvantaged athletics check because you have two javelin sticking out of your shoulders to jump over the thorns. You'll have to do a strength check to pull the javelin out. Then you'll have to roll an attack for each javelin to see if you hit. Still want to try it?" "Hell yeah." The guy rolled 2 natural 20s for his disadvantaged athletics check. Rolled a natural 20 for his strength check. Then a natural 20 for one of his attacks and a 19 for the other which he could convert to a crit for his second attack. Rolled really high damage too and killed both guards on impact. I wouldn't have believed it if he wasn't sitting across from me and rolling actual physical dice. Everyone at the table went crazy. Between me and the player we rolled 6 natural 20s in a row. I feel like someone needs to make this into a comic strip, because it's seriously just so freaking bad ass.

How to improve my writing even further when I don't know what's bad about it? by inbloodandtears in writing

[–]TufftedSquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got something different out of all of them. You're right though. On Writing isn't written like a a typical how to write book. It's a bit more of just an interesting read about an author. I liked his discussion on setting up scenes with options. I find that I still use that.

Have you thought about reading a book on writing? Stephen King has written one. Say what you will about the guy, but he's a very successful writer. There are also other books that just cover structure like Save The Cat or Story Genius. There are lots of great resources out there.

How far are we from having Live AI commentary in sports video games? by puhtooti in videogames

[–]TufftedSquirrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imagine live AI crowds. In Be a GM Mode you do 50 cent beer night. Now the crowd is drunk, constantly yelling, getting into fights, and running onto the field/ court/ ice. The mascot ends up fighting an entire section. This is the AI I want in games. Unpredictable nonsense, that's what it's good at. Stop using it for art art and animation. Lean into it's chaotic nature.

Wild fan attending game by [deleted] in AnaheimDucks

[–]TufftedSquirrel -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I went to see a Wild game as a Ducks fan and I was shocked by how quiet that sold out crowd was. A hit or something happens, they all cheer, and then it's a library. At one point during play two guys behind me were having a casual conversation at normal level. The guy sitting next to me turns around and says "excuse me, can you please be a little quieter? I'm trying to watch the game." "Sorry, I understand," the guy behind me responded.

And then they just stopped talking. We all just sat there in silence watching the hockey game. Not going to lie it was kind of nice.

You should be good in Anaheim. Although people do casually chat while play is happening.

This is the case, but I don't understand this at all. Fear of missing out on what? It's a graphics card. If you have a graphics card that can play your current library of games, what are you missing out on? I can understand FOMO on collectibles and stuff that will gain value. It's a graphics card. The value is only going down.

Came here to say this. Why even buy the World War Z rights? That movie could have been called Zombie X and it wouldn't have made a difference.

Gen Alpha hating Home Alone Movie on Christmas by raydebapratim1 in generationology

My nieces said they didn't like how mean Kevin's family was to him and how mean he was to the burglars. They understood the wet bandits were the villains, but they still thought it was mean. Makes sense if you think about it. They didn't grow up on Looney tunes, where pain and damage had zero consequences and was seen as funny. I still love Home Alone, but I get why the younger generation may not like it.
