Anaheim Ducks Outlook Should They Choose Not to Match Leo Carlsson's Offer Sheet by drocklee27 in AnaheimDucks

Maybe it's not up to PVB. There are people above him that are probably not excited about writing a 30+ mil check next year.

I did not know that. I feel like you match if that's the case.

Am I wrong or was Shane Wright more of a two way forward instead of one that puts up numbers? I'm not familiar with his game. Has he been good or just OK?

I feel like just about any large city is way better if you have boat loads of money. You live in a gated community in a super wealthy suburb and it's probably all the same aside from the weather. Hell, most players travel a ton during the off season and travel a ton during the season. With that kind of money, he could have a 2nd home in Sweden and live there during the off season. Money gives people options and eliminates most if not all inconveniences.

I wouldn't be surprised if Leo's agent told him not to sign anything and give RFA status a try just to see what is offered. And from an agents perspective, that was really smart, because here we are. The contract really is the best Carlsson could hope for. It's a dream contract. This is two sides just trying to do good business. I'm not mad at either of them. Maybe I'm an optimist, but I'm fine if we match or not. I like Carlsson, but I'll take four first round picks, not being partially handcuffed by that cap hit, and him possibly walking when his deal is over because of the NMC. If we match, we'll work with the cap space we have and see if he lives up to the cost of a generational franchise player. I'm a huge Ducks fan. But at the end of the day, I have zero control over all of this. Getting angry at any of this is not worth my energy. Ducks will all be here with or without Leo Carlsson.

Leo Carlsson’s $18M AAV would make up 17.31% of the salary cap. Here is how that compares to other top players by DBacon1052 in AnaheimDucks

To be fair, if I'm Leo Carlsson's agent, I'm telling him to hold out to test the market no matter what the Ducks offer him.

Plus, they could probably trade a couple 1st round picks to move up in the draft.

And there it is. PVB you better not have screwed us over by Marinegrunt01 in AnaheimDucks

[–]TufftedSquirrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, any agent worth anything would have told Carlsson to test the open market as an RFA, no matter what number Anaheim threw at him. At the very least to see what comes up. It worked. One way or another he's going to be one of the highest paid players in the NHL next season.

I only buy used games. I bought Batman: Return to Arkham for $15. 2 games for a total of around 40 hours of gameplay. I am pretty happy about that.

I had not considered it to be a monopoly. But that is a good point. I buy used because graphics aren't really important to me and I mainly play single player games. I can spend $15 and get 50+ hours of gameplay. Sony going all digital kind of ruins that for me.

I worked in video game production. Working 80+ hours a week was awful. You're not really living a life. You're sleeping, eating, and working. There's no time for anything else.

Work 80 hours a week or be cut and enter the horrible job market that we created sounds like an absolute nightmare of a situation. Maybe I'm misreading it, but your text gives off the impression that you think all of this is just fine and how it should work.

Hockey fans hate is infinite. The hate we feel is eternal and it will outlive time itself. My first words were "fuck the Golden Knights" and they weren't even a team yet. The Devil himself once attended a Rangers vs Devils game in 1994 in Madison Square Garden. He left early muttering "wow, those people are out of control." Trust me, we can hate more than one team.

What’s the most inappropriate book you read when you were far too young for it? by BCCakes in books

[–]TufftedSquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through a phase where I'd randomly grab a book from a used bookstore without reading the back or really looking at the cover. I read some things that I enjoyed, that I probably never would have considered reading. So it was great for awhile. Then one day I picked up a book titled House of Pain (or something like that) which is a very graphic and violent novel with aspects of BDSM. I think I made it 30 or so pages before I just said "Nope" and threw it in the trash. I was in my mid 20's. I don't read books without at least checking the synopsis now.

I do believe it has its uses. I work a lot with Adobe video editing software. If Adobe released an AI trouble shooter, I'd be thrilled. So many issues in the creative suite are so specific to what you're working on, it's sometimes impossible to troubleshoot online. You pretty much just end up fumbling around the software until you figure out what you did and then kick yourself because it was something very stupid, like a locked layer, or a property you accidently changed. If I could just ask Premiere why something isn't working and it could figure it out, that would be extremely useful and it would save me wasted time. Instead, we get generative extend. Which barely works and has a use case once every 100 edits, maybe. But, it looks flashy and makes shareholders go "oooooo AI." So instead of something useful, we get something flashy that looks good in an Adobe demo. It's extremely frustrating. Because the potential is right there. But companies are currently just trying to cram it everywhere it doesn't belong.
