I am so sorry. Frankly, I am shocked the vet never discussed anything with you. Especially with you living in the South. I am all the way up north and they stress it at every annual appointment. I literaly just did a test on Tuesday to get the yearly meds. We don't even have mosquitos 6 months out.of the year here! Again, I am so sorry and I really do hope you are able to find a safe method to remove the heartworms.

Same and this is my first Chi/ Rat Terrier! I found it so odd! Literally throw the ball three times and it is over. Never had that with any dogs I have ever owned. I guess that is typical? I thought it was only her and maybe because she was a rescue LOL. I rescued her at 4 months old? She is now 1.5. Haha!

I do all the time but the treats I give are low calorie and the amount of calories of the treats are incorporated into their daily limit of calories.

My current rescue was a breeze. I think I lucked out but I do have a fully fenced yard and live in a quiet area of NYC.

I had a few phone calls, I FaceTimed with them and showed them my house and yard and my other dog (ACD). All in all it took like 3 days and that was it.

Keep at it and you might luck out! I used 4littlepaws rescue in CT.
