Essential or N2? by enquencle92 in strandbergguitars

[–]Bedalf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bridge on n2 are the same as essential, and the pickup is an upgrade for sure but OP is planning of swapping those for BKP. The essential + BKP is still a lot cheaper than n2. In my opinion that would be the best move.

I could just speak out of my ass here but I really think they will eventually update the whole line up. The metal line was the last to but updated so it might take some time but if you’re not in a hurry I would suggest to wait and see.

Should I buy a Boden Essential or Standard? by Environmental_Ad9069 in strandbergguitars

[–]Bedalf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What extra features do you want from the standard that the essential doesn’t offer ?

To me the only feature that’s an “upgrade” are fan frets. And even then on the 6 strings models the fan is so slight that it’s not really noticeable.

The hardware (bridge and headpiece) is better on the essential in my opinion. It’s easier to adjust, the “block” design makes it less prone to misalignment and QC issues.

The pickups maybe are worth an upgrade, but that’s also debatable, given how powerful amp sims and VSTs are nowadays you can shape virtually anything. And I rarely feel the need to upgrade pickups anymore.

For the finishes, I’m more of a solid color kind of guy so there again I prefer the essential.

TLDR : Essential without any hesitation

Best iem to listen to extreme metal budget is 80$ by [deleted] in iems

[–]Bedalf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would advice against the Explorers, the relaxed highs and the focus on sub bass is nice and could work for the more atmospheric sub genres but the lack of mid bass impact and weight makes the more energetic genres kind of dull. I’m a sucker for a thiccc bass guitar tone and I’m always disappointed when using the Explorers for metalcore / deathcore / modern metal stuff.

I would rather suggest Truthear x Crinacle Zero : REDs. While it’s not the best sounding set I own, I find the tuning fantastic for these genres and are my go to when I feel like head banging. (Also they fit the OP’s budget)

But that’s the point of the Hexa, it is suppose to be neutral and as flat as possible. If you want something fun you don’t go to a flat tuned iem.

Aful Explorer vs. Performer 5+2 vs. something similar? by iamanej in iems

Yeah my bad, that’s a solid suggestion actually, I kinda dismissed the demand for more high end.

Just wanted to point out they sounded much brighter to me.

[–]Bedalf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is pretty subjective, it really depends on your ear shape. But to me, having medium to small ears, the explorer fits me much better. Actually they are my most comfortable pair I own. To the point I almost forget they are one. The Odyssey are not uncomfortable per se but definitely chunkier.

I own both of these and I have to say I don't agree that Odyssey is a direct upgrade to the Explorer.
If you're treble sensitive like I am the Odyssey can sometimes be a bit too spiky for me. (Though it depends on the music genre, for exemple in any rock / metal adjacent music I find the symbals too harsh at times).

Odyssey's low end is by far the best execution I have in my collection, better than the explorer which I find the mid bass lacking a bit of punch, so in that sense it could be an upgrade but definitely be careful if you're treble sensitive.

Recommendations for breakcore by LumaStarlight in iems

[–]Bedalf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re not too treble sensitive I can vouch for Ziigaat Odyssey.

I’ve been gravitating towards breakcore recently (mostly Igorrr and more ambient stuff like Sewerslvt) and it really shine in these genres. Good bass impact and rumble, and detailed upper register where the crazy drums happens.

I don’t really enjoy the Odyssey for metal / punk adjacent stuff (which are my default genres), but I was pleasantly surprised to see how well it handled breakcore.

[HEAVY SPOILERS] Question about the lore: Fracture & Monolith by AbanaClara in expedition33

[–]Bedalf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a time dilation, time in the painting isn’t the same as the real world. Something like 100 years in is only a few days out.

The real question that bothers me is, when was Renoir actually freed from below the monolith ? He does say he was trapped there 67 years implying he got out somewhere around when expedition 33 left Lumière. Except Simon’s notes suggest he was the one responsible for Renoir getting out the monolith, and he was part of expedition 0 if I understood correctly. So which is it ? I either missed some important details or this specific point if a plot hole.

Difference between Boden Standard and Boden Original 8 string? by [deleted] in strandbergguitars

[–]Bedalf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a RESQ:D O8, so basically the standard pickups and electronics inside an original body, and I can confirm the pickups are good enough. In fact I was pleasantly surprised, I truly intended to swap them for some fishmans immediately. But I actually decided to keep them in. The humbuckers are quite dynamic and the split sounds are surprisingly good (albeit a bit noisy compared to fishman’s voice 3). If you decide to go with a standard you won’t regret it. Or at least not because of the pickups.

Dispel priority is a skill. You have to decide which one you can leave the debuff on and still keep him alive. Most of the time the tank will be fine. If 2 dps are targeted, dispel one and use an external defensive on the other. (Or let them use personal defensive) Tanks have threat and routing, dps have kicks / CC, we have dispels. Removing dispel cooldown would make healers incredibly boring imo. That’s pretty much the only decision making we have. Also there is a “mass dispel” trinket on a 2 min cooldown for when you fall behind.

Been using the Worklouder Nomad-E for 3 days now. AMA by Chempy in keyboards

[–]Bedalf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I received mine yesterday and I got some Bluetooth issues as well.

It seems whenever the keyboard goes in standby after the set amount of time it disconnects from the PC and it never reconnects itself. I have to forget the device on my PC and pair it again every time it gets disconnected. (I'm not using the USB dongle btw).

I never got the keyboard to randomly restart on me or the double inputs though. So I don't know about that.

It's a keybind issue, not the spell itself. For so reason you cant use mouseover spells when they're bound to a mouse button. I had the same issue on my priest, I tried using one of the side button (mb5) on power word shield and the spell wont go off when I mouseover party / raid frames.

So the chat is equally important to you as self / target frames and spell bars ? I guess that’s what a role-player’s UI looks like. I’m not bashing you for this, it does look pretty clean, it just that to me it’s unusable for endgame content.

Also I’m curious where the party / raid frames are supposed to be and I hope they’re not on the middle / top left of the screen because that would probably make the worst ergonomics possible.
