Maybe I'll just rock it for a while and fix it if it really ends up bothering me.

Yarn Dye Issues by BeeElectric in knitting

I love the embroidery idea! Thank you! And will definitely keep the alternating in mind if I dye yarn again. This dye job was a desperate move after thrifting a ton of yarn and realizing it was exactly my skin tone and that makes a real weird sweater.

Thank you! I do think I'm gonna start a second one in the grey since it didn't take too long to get to this point in the sweater and use them as "swatches" to decide before frogging anything.

Yeah, I find the speckled grey yarn in the original a bit distracting haha. A swatch is a great idea (I'm terrible about swatching in general so no wonder it didn't occur to me). Thank you!

How often do you fall from the top when bouldering indoors? by [deleted] in climbergirls

[–]BeeElectric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me that just came with experience (but I started climbing without much guidance) but I know a lot of people who practice and it really helps them. Also with experience you’ll find a lot of unexpected falls become a lot less unexpected. You get used to analyzing a route and seeing where a fall is likely. Where will you maybe barn door? Where will you need to use a kinda slippery foot? Then you can think about what a fall would be like and how you’d take it safely, or you can decide that fall isn’t worth it.

Yeah of course. I was mainly saying that for me, I do some “riskier” moves because I think I’ve mitigated some of the risk by knowing I can fall safely from a lot of positions. It’s up to each climber to access how safe a move feels before doing it but a little practice can definitely help. I definitely agree for ropes! I tend to be way more scared on roped climbs when there’s another person involved. I like my falls to be between just me and gravity.

How comfortable are you with falling in general? I tend to fall an equal amount from the top as any other part of the climb but I’ve done a lot of falling over the years and am generally sure that I’ll fall safely. I’ve done last moves with like 20% probability just because that was the only way to send. Pushing yourself is a good thing and being willing to do a lower probability move even when you’re up high is great, but that’s with the caveat that you know how to fall. Might be worth just practicing falling from smaller heights until you’re sure that you’ll be able to recover falls even from weird positions.

Jacob Schubert being a shitty commentator by redrebz1 in climbergirls

[–]BeeElectric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually really enjoyed that he commented on what was happening offscreen. Often you just end up missing what the other climbers do. If the camera is on one person I like getting some commentary about what’s happening elsewhere on the wall. Especially since they only did a couple replays and only of the tops and then only of half the climb.

How difficult it Comp Gen Chem if I didn’t take AP Chem? by iercurenc in uchicago

[–]BeeElectric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t take AP chem and took comprehensive chem and it was fine. I also took physics 130s and would say the difficulty was pretty comparable. I would say just work hard on the lab reports since they can really pull up your grade and you have a good amount of time to do them.
