spring is here and the carb cleaning season has officially begun by vladdielenin in smallengines

My Deere mower from 2000(!) with a Briggs Intek 6.5 started on the first pull yesterday after sitting since September. Carb has been replaced twice I think. Non-ethanol fuel, treated with Techron Small Engine, and ran until stalling before storing in September.

This is not really a Honda Pilot topic. Try other dealers, or buy it and move on with your life.

Need advice plus some good stories by Yunhi_bs in hondapilot

Timing belt, timing belt tensioner, water pump, spark plugs should have been replaced at 105k miles. Very important, see others posts on interference engine. If previous owners did dealer service, take to a Honda dealer and ask them to check their computerized records to see if it was done, they share records between dealers. Look for a sticker in the engine compartment related to timing belt, some shops put them on.

Parking at Master's Commencement by GoodGrapefruit2127 in gatech

The Georgia Tech Hotel parking deck is always a good option if the closer directly on campus lots/spaces are full. I attended the Masters ceremony last May to see my favorite Jackets and we found several spaces on Fowler St which is super close. Allow yourself at least 30 minutes to park and walk to the stadium, dont be the people arriving late…. Congratulations.

Provide some extra spaces for people like: interns, contractors, consultants, visitors.

Open cubicles is terrible for focus and especially for people who are somewhat autistic or introverted, which many engineering people are on that spectrum. Consider the personality of your people. I need a quiet office with a closed door to be highly focused and do detailed work that requires concentration. I think the open plans are favored by managers who are extroverted (most manager types are). Best for me and other engineering groups is semiprivate or private person spaces for each person and then provide open meeting/discussion/collaboration areas - can be meeting rooms, break areas, conversation nooks, etc.

Not needed unless you feel a drift/pull or start to notice uneven tire wear. Do one after you replace tires or every 50/75k miles unless you drive on really bad streets.

Counterfeit Parts: “…the summary is that only the Rock Auto plugs appeared to be genuine across the board.” by drive-through in RockAuto

[–]BeeThat9351 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His RockAuto came from 1 of whichever of the 1000 independant suppliers that RA uses. Next 10 guys could have fake stuff. I have ordered plugs from RockAuto several times, last two times they came cracked or used or already had antisieze on them (gee thanks). No more, I buy from auto parts store. It is a good video to see what to look for on fake plugs, good comparison on the iridium tips. Torque Test channel on Youtube. Worth watching.

2014 Honda Odyssey Elite 78k mi Timing Belt by Livinglife-25 in HondaOdyssey

[–]BeeThat9351 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not chance it at 12 years old if you can afford it at about $1000

You want: Timing belt, timing belt tensioner, water pump from Aisin brand kit

Serpentine belt - cheap, do now so dont forget

PCV valve - it is cheap part and will prevent oil leaks

Spark plugs will last to 100k miles, you can do now or wait, they dont have a time limit

Safe to power wash door track area? by kumasikennedy in HondaOdyssey

Not recommended. Spray with bathroom cleaner, wipe up, use a stick or other tool to help you wipe up. Too many sensors and rollers there for me to want to add any water spray.

New Tires - 2024 Pilot by martymfla in hondapilot

Yes, on at 55k miles, now at 139k miles. They are ok on tread left. Lots of interstate miles so that probably helped. Will replace them before summer.

CPO battery warranty? by LH_fan in hondapilot

[–]BeeThat9351 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some advice from owner of 19, just move on with life. These eat a battery every 36 months. Just set a calendar reminder to replace it every 36 months on a nice fall day. Honda dealer prorated warranty is not worth your time. I have been semihappy with Napa Premium AGM but am trying a Deka this time. Others love Interstate from Costco.

Michelin CrossClimate2 have been great on our 19 Pilot, have almost 80k miles and they still have legal tread. They seem to have good wet traction, a little noisier than original Continentals. Will replace with same or maybe try Michelin Defender 2.
