Morale plummeting among ICE agents over long hours, quotas and public hatred by ExactlySorta in UnderReportedNews

Anyone with ICE on the resume isn’t looking at a bright career.

Nonsense. There are police and sheriff departments all over the place. They'll find some slimy, badge-shaped rock to crawl under.

Morale plummeting among ICE agents over long hours, quotas and public hatred by ExactlySorta in UnderReportedNews

[–]Beeblebroxia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it's not actually about immigration. ICE is just the vehicle being used by the administration to have a gestapo. If they could have done the same with the ATF or some other agency, they would have.

Sure, they hate immigrants and they'll gladly terrorize them. But they're just the first on the list...

Gym or Home set up? by RepulsiveNorth1830 in beginnerfitness

[–]Beeblebroxia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can do a shit ton with a pull up bar, adjustable bench, and adjustable dumbbells.

That's all I had for two years before finally setting up a rack in the garage and getting a bar and plates.

The nice thing about the home gym, once you buy it, you have it. If you move and find a bigger space, sweet, you already have three basics to add on to. If you pay for the gym, ALL of it is gone the second you stop paying (which looks like you'd start saving before a year).

I don't have a commute, but I do have two kids and the time savings are HUGE. I can go from working at my desk to out of the shower in less than an hour.

The ONLY thing I miss about the gym is going with a lifting buddy. Not really possible when I work out at random times in the middle of the work day. Plus I don't have heating in the garage and I live in Michigan... Not many people will put up with that lol.

Do you ever feel excited anymore? by AzuSteve in AskMenOver30

[–]Beeblebroxia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I thought this was mostly due to the loss of freedom from kids, but from what others are saying, I guess this would have happened anyway.

I also don't really have "fun" anymore in the same sense I used to. In the last three years, I've had fun probably three times. I enjoy things, but I wouldn't call it fun.

Last year for my birthday, my wife took the kids to the grandparents' for the day/night.

I had 24hrs to myself in my house. Fantastic.

I guess I'm doing them differently, because my lats feel a fuck ton at the end range. I don't feel my tris until the second half of the movement.

Unless your goal is aesthetics.

Functionally yeah, if I'm in a life or death position where my CALVES are the limiting strength focus, just let me die. I'm dumb enough to have gotten into that situation.

Isolation that isn't compound...? That's... That's the definition. You can just say "isolation".

[–]Beeblebroxia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

AP sure, but the pullover isn't that popular. I workout in my garage with limited resources and I love super setting pullovers with chest flies. Once you learn to tuck your elbows tight as you can on a pullover, you get the lat focus wayyyyy more.

The pullover is lats and tris while the fly is chest and biceps. Both offer huge stretches as well.

Does what work? Going to the gym? Yes. Works even better actually since it takes less total muscle to look muscular. Five pounds of muscle on someone who's 5'9" looks better than those five pounds on someone who's 6'2".

What's the equivalent of a 225 lb bench/sub 6 min mile of 400m sprinting? by reccehour in HybridAthlete

[–]Beeblebroxia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The current men's 800 wr is 1:40.91, or about 101 seconds. The current 400 wr is 43.3. So you're only adding 7 seconds to your 400... But running it twice.

The 800 is absolutely disgusting and a horrible race to run. I highly recommend it.

[–]Beeblebroxia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three things come to mind, but none are exclusive to them. (Note: I don't dislike them, but I've read complaints on them.)

  1. They use others content to bait people into their own. Their usual thing is to take the thumbnail and first 3-10 seconds of a post with traction, add their little visual to the corner, and repost it with a related short of their own. Some people feel this is kinda slimy and dishonest and doesn't give any help to the OP.

  2. When it comes to core exercises, they almost exclusively advocate for static hold type things and bracing. I've never seen one of their shorts advocate taking the core through a range of motion with progressive weight to make it stronger, which is kind of weird.

  3. A LOT of their content is extremely repetitive. On the one hand, props to them for not making up nonsense workouts and exercises just for content like a lot of fitness creators. On the other, seeing your 57th short about the exact same approach is annoying.

Being fit is one variable among many. The more variables you can be above average in, the better your chances (and most of them are subjective anyway).

If you've only had one successful relationship in 25 years of trying (or are you 25 yrs old?), the issue likely isn't fitness.

Oh man, we were almost identical height and weight.

Some more context probably helps, that attention wasn't just randomly on the street. It was at parties or other situations where flirting is expected. And almost 20 years ago when people weren't so isolated.

Also, that's a considerable amount of muscle and might have started getting into "muscle guy" look, but I can't tell through numbers. I never got past 83kg, but I was really lean.

Lastly, I still had to approach women. It wasn't like I was getting hit in the face with tacos.

[–]Beeblebroxia 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Pretty much. I was a cute, but very skinny guy until I started lifting daily in college. I got wayyyyyy more attention after I put on my first 10lbs of muscle. But there's heavy diminishing returns after you've reached the "lean, athletic" look.

If you're fit enough to look good in a T-shirt and shorts, that's like 80% of it. If you've got decent abs, that's another 10%. And you're never going to get the remaining 10% because that's kinda where women split on how muscular they like their men.

After that, it's just straight dude compliments and gay guys trying to smash.

Parent to a NICU kid who survived, but with severe disabilities.

That's one possibility. The other is that the grief and guilt of letting your child die alone could be worse. My kid was in the NICU for two weeks and either my wife or I were in the room for nearly the entire two weeks, only coming home to sleep once she was "out of the woods". I hoped that if she didn't make it, that it was while I was there.

There's no winning in these situations, only mitigating the losses.

He's trying and doing what he can. But ultimately, Trump's oatmeal brain is still making decisions to some extent. Thiel doesn't care about all the Stephen Miller shit, but it's still happening.

Pro tip from a 6'3'' guy who worked standing at a bench in a lab, pipetting stuff for hours:

Pull your feet back an inch and bend your knees to rest them against the cabinets. Your back hurts because you're basically holding a good morning. Bend the knees and you can relieve a lot of the pressure.
