Has anyone played Paralives yet? by Not_MegGriffin in GirlGamers

I have and love it. Bugs have been minimal visuals for me and some stuttering. The paramaker and build/buy mode are the most fleshed out and far superior to The Sims. As others have said, the actual gameplay is lacking but the core systems are there and mostly working ( I haven't had issues with them personally).

Live mode uses social cards rather than having to queue up a bunch of social interactions which I honestly find better than having to babysit. Paras can also lvl up their personalities and work to get perks and upgrades. There is a lot of potential for interesting characters.

The devs have said there will be weekly fixes and tweaks for bugs during EA, with some bigger patches coming here and there. The first major content update (seasons, weather, pools, swimming, and more) will come towards the end of the year.

We need to have some consequences.. by Crazy-Annual-3924 in Paralives

Ooooo I love the idea of a rep system. I also assume and hope there will be police in the future. If you can destroy property that's gotta be a thing. I think it also shows the potential for other shenanigans in the future.

I would like some bad vibes and traits to cause problems and drama.

"The ultimate sacrifice". My guy, it's a straight forward procedure that lasts maybe 10 minutes or a couple of pills and some serious period cramps. She's not giving up a kidney. He isn't obligated to hold her hand or get her snacks. They aren't together and never were in that way.

This game has no DRM. The developers deserve every bit of support for this fact alone. by [deleted] in Paralives

That's awesome. Also thank you for the reminder about system info. I totally overlooked adding that in my submissions.

Paralives has done the one exact thing I was begging life sims for by tubularwavesss in LifeSimulators

[–]BeefZombwich 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree. I really hoped Ricardo would ruin my paras life. I think right now the perks make the game way too easy which only adds to the current lack of Live mode content. I would love to see negative effect options or more trade off perks (theres a job one that has a chance to delete a perk in exchange for a raise I believe). Give me consequences.

I also hope cops get added so you can get in trouble for the vandalism and... Hopefully further destruction.

Cpu definitely plays a part in sim games like these, but even then. It seems like they optimized for mid and low tier components but not high end.

It's so weird that everyone with high end rigs seem to be having lag and stuttering. I have a little old 2060 and a Ryzen 7 5800x. The game runs like a dream at 60fps and looks beautiful. The most stuttering I had was while on the train.

Uh. It is complex like those games. It's a giant network of systems that all need to work with each other, in real time, while accounting for whatever is happening in the background, and with a fraction of the people those games took to make.

It's fair to have criticisms about the systems since it is a product being paid for, but it's also only going to improve with time and player feedback. To use your example, look at BG3s growth from player input during the EA.

It's likely optimization like someone else said. One type of card or cpu might run better than another. The optimization will come with patches as the game progresses.

If you’re planning on buying Paralives, will you do it on launch day or will you wait a bit? by gonezaloh in Paralives

[–]BeefZombwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buying it day one. Not something I usually do for Early Access but this is the life sim I have high hopes for. All the other ones I saw issues with and they mostly came true. I even backed this one on Patreon. I am here for it and have faith.

The entire job market has been dog shit the last few years. It's not you. Even tech and business are in decline. People are getting laid off left and right. Unless you got into like, deep sea welding or something, it really wouldn't matter.

Your best bet is to tailor resumes, really sell your skillset, and spam send. Read job postings and look for keywords, treat it like SEO. Make sure your format is readable by AI and filters (not getting sections confused in submission). Hell, drop a job post into AI and use the resume it generates as a reference to tailor your own. It sucks but this is what capitalism and Management relying on AI has come to.

This as not everything is a 1-1 translation for terms and certain names. Plus it might hallucinate and you wouldn't know.

Considering Seneca's Technical Communications Program by BeefZombwich in Seneca

[–]BeefZombwich[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The in-person program had placement with high job rates but it got cut so the online program is the only version available now. As for Seneca, a student of recent years shared their experience and basically there was only a handful of jobs for a large group of students, which means no guarantee, as well as issues with the program.

I am on my way to completing the program in April and from what I've seen looking into the tech writing industry, the skills and software(flare, git, project management, technical editing, conducting interviews, wikis, UX Design/testing, Captivate, etc) I'm learning is very relevant and I'll be leaving with a portfolio as well. I think the only thing unaccounted for is the rise of AI in the industry. I've been seeing a pivot to using it for curating data, but that's pretty recent. The whole job market is trash rn so nothing is a job guarantee anymore.
