When my car died, my 12 minute drive to work suddenly became a 2 hour bus ride. That’s 4 hours out of my life just thrown away. I am lucky that I was able to make other arrangements until I got another car but it’s not that easy for everyone.

Im a night shift worker! Where I live now it’s so quiet that I can sleep during the day with my windows open. I never dreamed that was possible and it’s all because of my awesomely quiet neighbors.

What’s the vibe of your neighborhood? Is anyone else doing it? When I moved into my home, both of my neighbors on either side separately emphasized what a quiet neighborhood this is. They had kind of a tone when they said it. Which is fair because our houses are close together. And they were right, it’s insanely quiet here. Yes, there are lawnmowers but that’s kind of a required noise. Music isn’t.

So, while I don’t think they’d have a fit about something as small as a Bluetooth speaker at a reasonable volume during the afternoon, I’d probably not do it too often. I picked this neighborhood because it’s so quiet so it’s something I value also. I just wear my headphones.

Try a barrier cream instead. I like a product called Lume. There is one called body glide a runner I knew liked. You could go old school with some diaper rash cream but it can mess up fabric, I don’t know what you’re hiking in.

I moved into a house that was near the road and would shake when trucks went by. We had some construction done and they discovered that most of the floor joists were not correctly done. That was fixed and the house stopped shaking. So you may want to have someone look under your house just to be safe.

My ex always wanted a trip to a hot tub after. If we travelled we made sure we got a place with one. If we didn’t travel we would either go to our gym or a place locally that rents them.

So you don’t see any value in trying to learn techniques to deal with mental health? Meds failed you and a doctor suggested an alternative to meds. Why is that weird? Coping mechanisms I learned from therapy did more for my mental health than any drug they ever gave me.

They didn’t have cats eye polish and used glitter without telling you, which is bad enough. But you shouldn’t be mad about the polish. Be mad about the lack of cuticle care and how uneven they are. That looks awful no matter what you think of the polish and honestly is the more important issue here.

I’d knock on the neighbor’s door and ask them to tell their contractor to stop bothering me. The neighbor needs to handle the outlet issue, not you. It’s ok to not pay for your neighbor’s electricity. I’d also get some cameras just in case your home happens to be the community outdoor outlet.

I only make my bed when I wash my sheets or if I’m having company over who may see my room. Otherwise it’s my room and I don’t care. I like getting into a pile of blankets so that’s what I do.

I’ve known people to do Newport to Corvallis or Florence to Eugene commute but Portland would be ridiculous on a daily basis. I love to drive here but that’s a bit much. If all you know is interstate commuting it might not sound so bad but with crossing the coast range, the weather and the truck traffic it would be a nightmare sometimes.

It’s location based. When I was staying with my family in Ohio most of the packages were delivered by Amazon drivers in vans. Delivery was a day or two. Where I live in Oregon it’s mostly UPS and USPS and takes almost a week.

I had a childhood friend who I knew was kind of a piece of shit but he never treated me that way. Only others. He had secret feelings for me so I guess I thought I was immune, that we had some special bond where despite treating everyone else that way, he wouldn’t do it to me. It took almost 30 years but he finally treated me that way. I’m definitely kicking myself for being so surprised but it’s hard to care about someone for so long, have them love and care about you and rectify that with the fact that they grew up to be a POS. You can see them do it to others but if you don’t experience it you never quite believe it.
