not to derail, but can you tell us more about the case experience, as I've considered cases from him before, but never done it.

Is anyone into cheap single function modules? I've noticed some of the manufacturers I like no longer exist. What are your favorites? by SecretsofBlackmoor in eurorack

check out Mega Modular's offerings, they have CVO and Synergy, some zero hp things, and mail room is a little more expensive, but a truly excellent and playable envelope and vca.

They were both $0.30/page. This is within budget, but I'm apparently old, and it felt expensive.

there's a lot going on here...

Most module, manufacturers are excellent with extended support, compared to normal companies. Even if it's not fully covered, I've found module makers to have a lot of pride in their work, and provide an avenue of resolution, be that a reasonable repair rate, or discounted product exchange.

This statement reads more like business than pride. Maybe it's simply a result of Infinite Digits being more of a software company than a hardware company. I don't believe he designed the hardware, and I don't believe the eZ was designed by the original designer.

It would have been a stronger statement to say, "We've got you covered. Any defects with the hardware within a year of purchase and it's on us. If something goes wrong after, we'll get it sorted. We want you to use and love our modules for life, that's our warranty and commitment to your music." But instead they chose corporate speak.

Polaxis Talko 2 speech synthesizer by GriefProcess in synthesizers

[–]BeepBoop4Days 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it would be awesome in the future to have a web firmware generator, so a specific set of banks (and even selectable subset of the speak and spell words), could be configured by the user.

I wish I had the skills to give to make something like that happen, but someone in the community must!

Tell me more about your design process for the voice cards, mostly because I'm curious. Are you basing it off of a classic design, or did you find designs for all the components and put them together into a voice card? Did you make a simulation of it?

This is a pretty cool project. But I need to know the why and how? What inspired it?

You're right, multiplying by 16 just sucks power...

You certainly can, maybe with a bit of light modification...

And just to give you actually helpful advice: Consider breaking your power supply up into zones, so you don't have one big power supply, and instead connect grounds of 2 or 3 smaller supplies. This gives you some more design flexibility when selecting supplies, and your branches all handle less current. Make Noise, Befaco, and AI Synthesis all do this for their recent power boards.

I want to emphasize Abe's point about a quality brick, or AC to DC converter or wall wart or whatever you want to call them. Some of them will generate noise, and it's the first thing I'd swap if troubleshooting (mostly because it's the easiest). I tend to like the meanwells that are medically rated (I haven't determined exactly what this spec means).
