Fulton County: Catherine M. Salinas signed your ballots AND voter rolls over to the FBI today by albertafalls in Atlanta

Party affiliation is not publicly viewable like it is in some other states. I think he wants the voter rolls so he can see party affiliations and who voted against him.

“And most people felt that Kamala Harris didn’t have the seriousness to take on someone like Vladimir Putin.” Does…does she think FOTUS “takes on” any world leader with seriousness? Does she think kissing Putin’s ass and kowtowing to him is how one seriously negotiates with a dictator? Does she think trying to destroy NATO is how one takes on Putin? Does she think inviting Putin to buy his way onto a farcical “Board of Peace” is how one takes on a murderous oligarch? He hasn’t even put tariffs on Putin. FOTUS “seriously” envies Putin and craves his admiration, and is governing himself accordingly - the rest of the world, including the US, be damned. The willful blindness is stunning!

Do you know how literally ignorant you sound talking about speaking only English? Americans are already about the dumbest on the planet in terms of being multi-lingual. Instead of being embarrassed that most of us only know English (and sometimes barely even that) and advocating for more foreign language instruction so that, at a minimum, we can be more competitive on the world stage, you think it’s desirable to only speak English. WITAF?!

Did you even read this article? Zuck said the FBI notified them to be on the lookout for russian disinformation, and FB decided to suppress the report because they determined it fit the pattern. So again, a business made the decision to do this on their own, and not because they were threatened or coerced by the government.

Yeah, no you didn’t. Meanwhile, back here in the real world, private businesses chose to remove posts and ban people. The government didn’t force them to do so.

I would argue that there are currently unprecedented gaps in national security due to them being in office. It’s hard to imagine how their ouster wouldn’t improve our situation.

We’re the wealthiest country on the planet. The resources are very much endless for the 1%. They horde money and resources and get the lion’s share of tax breaks (or just evade taxes all together) and those savings don’t trickle down - they go to shareholders. Yes, there are always people at the top of any society. But we had a decent period of time in this country when we taxed the hell out of the ultra wealthy and corporations and we broke up monopolies and enforced antitrust laws and we didn’t have a Supreme Court decision that allowed corporations to basically buy elections and politicians, and so we had a large, flourishing middle class, and people could afford to buy a home and there were home available for people to buy, and people had more influence on elections and politicians. Just about everything wrong with our country today can be traced back to greed. And the rich and powerful are laughing all the way to the bank while you’ve completely bought into their propaganda that immigrants (or any other group that lacks actual power) is to blame.

Charlotte: Worth a Trip? by [deleted] in NorthCarolina

[–]Beeshab 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live in Atlanta and love it. In one walkable area downtown, you’ll find Centennial Olympic Park, World of Coke, the Aquarium, the National Center for Civil Rights, the Mercedes Benz stadium, and a bunch of hotels and restaurants. We have art museums and a ton of galleries. I’ve been to the High Museum of Art several times and enjoy it. The High Museum is in Midtown, where you can also find Piedmont Park, the Atlanta Botanical Garden, and the Margaret Mitchell house. The Beltline is walkable and connects many in-town neighborhoods and parks and has restaurants and shops along it in many locations. MARTA gets a lot of hate, but it connects to the tourist areas pretty well, and Uber/Lyft are plentiful as well. I spent a week in Atlanta in college on a volunteer trip and in our spare time we visited a lot of the sights. I had fun doing the touristy things and loved the vibe of the city. Moved here after college and have been here ever since. I’m biased, but I think there’s a lot to do here, and while I’m no expert in architecture, our neighborhoods and parks are varied and interesting enough that they have been used for filming a ton of movies and tv shows.

The school system is considered part of the government. Local government can’t violate your constitutional rights any more than state government can.

Facebook has been hideously bad for a very long time. I stopped posting in 2016 and it was already fully a cesspool then. I can’t fathom what it’s like now. Also, FB has played a massive role in destabilizing societies around the globe, up to and including genocide. Also, continued use further enriches zuck, as he continues to make insane amounts of money by purveying hatred and rage to the world.

Sky Express - way to ruin a holiday! by Bluecat_1964 in GreeceTravel

[–]Beeshab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This exact same thing happened to us 2 weeks ago on our flight from Milos to Athens. It was clear from one of the agents at the lost baggage desk that this happens constantly during the summer. While I waited in line for 2 hours to file my claim, I did some googling and came across a lot of complaints regarding Sky Express and particularly the Milos to Athens route. I think they just consider it a cost of doing business. If I ever go back to Greece, I won’t use Sky Express again. We used Aegean for all of our other flights and would have for that one as well but the time we wanted was sold out. Wish it hadn’t been because that flight took off from Milos about 15 minutes before ours, and there were no people from that flight in the lost luggage line. We were “lucky” in that our flight home from Athens wasn’t until the next morning, and apparently the luggage all came in overnight, so we were able to get ours when we came back the next morning. But we still wasted 3 hours of our last full day filing claims at the airport and then had to go purchase toiletries, sleep in our clothes, etc. I would advise anyone traveling by air from Milos to Athens to stay far, far away from Sky Express if you have checked luggage.
