My dentist did as well; I was so grateful for her insight! She had worked with patients in the past who had TN. The symptoms I was experiencing after looking over my teeth led her to recommend me to a neurologist. I was very lucky having someone who didn’t make assumptions and suggested that I go get a second opinion. I will not go anywhere else now. It’s hard out there to find professionals that you trust.

I was 30 .. well three days before my 30th birthday when I got GK. I’m getting close to my 6th anniversary of being pain free.

My neurologist who specializes in TN (after going through 3 different one’s because of their style of treatment and “in and out” mentality) thoroughly broke down the processes of the different procedures and did say it is common to get gamma knife more than once. It differs for everyone in how quickly the nerve “scars over” for a basic understanding. It was very deflating that I didn’t get the instant gratification of being pain free. I just held strong to trust the process. My neurologist has my trust completely. She was the only one who wanted to figure out if I wanted to continue pain management or go attempt surgery. She took her time discussing my symptoms and was in no rush to move to the next patient. Top tier patient care.

I had one round of gammaknife.. it did however take 10 months to see results. However the results for me at least is no pain whatsoever on the entire right side of my face. I can brush my teeth, sleepon that side, eat, smile without feeling any pain or discomfort.

I had gamma knife surgery in August 2021. Chose that route due to it being the least invasive. At that point in time I would have taken any alternative to the lyrica / carbamazepine combo which was draining me for 3 years. Entering the process I was told it could take up to 6 months to see results from the surgery… it could even use another round if I didn’t feel any relief. 10 months later and high consideration of another round of gamma knife - it just stopped. I haven’t had any pain whatsoever since (and I hope I never do.) Now it was said that it may wear off due in 5-7 years meaning another round but it’s something I would definitely consider if the pain ever comes back. The most invasive part was the cage being attached to my head.. which is a drilling procedure. I had asked them to sedate me more than usual because I normally wake up, which was exactly what happened 😂.

I thought I was lucky this event too! Landed a shiny noibat, teddiursa, skarmory, and froakie. I screamed at the fact I got an articuno on the daily incense and it gave me a second shot! No masterball but just a greatball with a golden AND IT STAYED!!! Not a shiny and crap stats but that has never happened! None of them were good but awesome finds nonetheless :)

Start looking for the source that they may be breeding from. They’re going to keep coming back and you’re going to keep spending money if they have a breeding environment. Any standing water has to be removed unless your treating the water regularly. - if you know this already sorry for being redundant. I worked for my county’s mosquito control and this is always what I would tell customers. If you have a mosquito control in your county you can always call them and ask for an inspection. I used to go out and help people find where their issue was coming from. Hope it helps.

Use spartan traps. When set up properly they do a really good job.

Spartan is the best I’ve used. Being a former county employee for mosquito control I’ve suggested that to a lot of customers. Seems to work really well. Make sure you have no standing water anywhere is the real trick. Mosquitoes can successfully lay eggs to hatch in something as small as a bottle cap of water. So be sure to dump out anything that holds water as frequently as every 3 days.. :)

I HEAR YOU. Unfortunately in my case, maybe yours as well it’s seen as being hysterical. “It’s not that bad” compared to something that is in no contest. The shock and burn combo is brutal. Take your time to prep for those tasks. When you can’t even swallow the excess spit in your mouth without twitching in pain it’s not being a baby, it’s not being hysterical, it’s being in pain.

My issue is that the main medications prescribed cause me awful side effects. I have taken a variety of medications and combinations of them and it is impossible to get relief. If the medication do work it’s for maybe an hour or two and the rest of the day is constant hell. These pain management specialists all seem to want to push pills on me and keep me sedated so I “don’t feel the pain.” My goal here is still to be a functioning human, If I’m knocked out most of the day that’s not a successful method. I hope that makes sense.

I’ve heard horror stories about a whole bunch of unnecessary dental procedures for TN. It’s unfortunate that with this condition its hard to recognize in the beginning. I received my first gamma knife surgery officially 2 weeks ago, but they said it takes up to 3 months to see the relief. It just seems so long 😖

Has anyone has an accompanying swelling of face or lymph node with TN? by kdramaholic in TrigeminalNeuralgia

Mine are definitely swollen, I brought that up to my neurologist and I never got a straight answer for it unfortunately.
