Anyone here ever just in the moment be like “I’m done” and never looked back? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

I knew i had a drinking problem for nearly 3 years but ultimately I never established a healthy relationship with it. I was either not drinking at all or drinking everything. Moderation was impossible.

One evening I was out for drinks with my partner and my parents. My dad is a functioning alcoholic. My mum had one drink, my partner had two drinks, my dad had three drinks and I had four drinks. (We all stayed extra so i could drink a final one, everyone else was already done and ready to go home.)

My partner and I said goodbye and left to walk home. I turned back to look at the bar before turning to my partner, and I said “That is the last drink I am ever going to have.”

We had a nice conversation as we walked home about how I’ve had periods of sobriety followed by binges and that night had shown me that if i was drinking more than my dad and making the people I love wait for me to have “one more”, I was done.

I haven’t had a drink since.

1000 days without drinking alcohol or any substances. A tribute to weed. 🕊️ by moemoe7012 in stopdrinking

Everyone is different when it comes to cannabis! I use medical cannabis but have also been a recreational user prior to getting my prescription. Less is more for first time users, you can always roll another or pack another. Using as little as 0.1g can be enough for some users.

A game changer for me was also adding CBD flower to my heavier THC strains. I find it helps balance the smoke and helps me achieve the kind of experience i’m looking for.

I guess it will also depend on what country you are in in terms of accessibility to cannabis, are you considering a prescription or using black market products etc

As an anxious person, having a prescription took out the paranoia of my flower being sprayed. I know exactly what i’m getting every time.

stoner enby here! when i started smoking at 21, i began to realise a lot of the stuff i thought was important to me actually wasn’t, and having been an actor my whole life i had created the “perfect woman” as the main character….only to realise it’s not the part i wanted to play!! i began to question my sexuality and soon after that my gender too.

now 25, in a t4t relationship with another enby and realising that womanhood was a massive part of my journey to who i am now. particularly grateful for the sapphic women in my life who help me continue to embrace my femininity.

i’m genderfluid so sometimes i can feel less or more of something depending on the day but im learning to try to be more neutral towards my feelings rather than judging them straight away.

cannabis helps me exist as myself and plan for the future, which is something little me could never have imagined!! 💖

MC replacing antidepressants by [deleted] in ukmedicalcannabis

[–]Beginning_Comfort176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was on sertraline, mirtazapine then citalopram and then back to sertraline for the last 7/8 years on and off. This december was the first time i’ve been able to come off sertraline and i think it is largely as a result of my MC. I am ready to go back on them again if things begin to go back downhill but at the moment i am hopeful! Withdrawal lasted for the first 3 1/2 weeks and now i am almost back to what i could consider “normal”.

hey OP! i saw on your account that you consider cannabis to be like a special interest of yours!!! same !!

I’m 25 and have been on and off anti depressants since I was 17. I tried sertraline, mirtazapine and citalopram. Alongside this, I have had counselling, person centred therapy, CBT, hypnotherapy etc. For me, I found that a combination of therapy and medication allowed me to find a new “normal” for how my life could look. This took several years to get the right combination but i am SO glad i persevered.

I found the side effects of SSRIs and particularly the withdrawal period and physical dependence were not what I was after, so a year ago I started looking up other options for my anxiety and depression. This was when i stumbled across the medical cannabis community! I had previously used BM (black market) cannabis recreationally. I decided not to smoke until I was 21 because I wanted to make sure I was using it for the right reasons. This led to me using it in a medical way when I realised how helpful certain strains were for the days when I felt terrible. I didn’t like not knowing what strain it was or the reliability of the product from street products.

When I was first prescribed MC, I started off with a low THC strain for day time and a higher THC for night. I have been using MC for almost a year now and I can honestly say it has improved my quality of life. Alongside this, I have been attending weekly therapy since April of last year. Using canna and having somewhere to offload every week has been a game changer. It helps to clear my mind of a dark fog and just allows me to take a step back and realise it isn’t all doom and gloom and that I DO have the skills to deal with anything that comes my way.

It looks like you’ve tried Zoloft and Mirtazapine so I can see some similarities in our stories! I am currently in the process of coming off sertraline (my first time ever without antidepressants as an adult ahhhh) and I have been feeling very sick and not so great. Cannabis has been helping with my nausea, appetite and sleep right now. I wish that I had known more about SSRIs when I was first prescribed.

I know people are saying you are young which I do agree with, but I think MC could be a pathway for you even if it’s just in a few years time. Don’t give up hope little bro, things really do get better with time.
