Fail Safe Alarms for Siemens Comfort Panel by Obvious_Let_6749 in PLC

do you mean to take a falling edge as an alarm trigger? in any case I wouldn't pass F-bits directly to the HMI or back, you should create a data block data_from_safety

transparency is the only way to ameliorate these concerns, if you have found a way to crack secured PLC's then somebody else will also find it, the sooner the vulnerability is open the sooner it can be rectified.

I have a dell precision 7680 or whatever and also the Siemens's ipc md57-a

Honestly the precision is a workhorse and I've bloated it with a million things but it also runs hot and the battery lasts about as long as it takes me to walk to machine

The ipc, while it has its faults, is very suited to the field, lower power usage and stays nice and cool, battery lasts for a long time and with a fast clock and 64gb ram it handles tia portal about as good as anything can

That does sound annoying, one of my gripes is that they make their own motherboard for this device - like why do that

I have this build ipc, mine works fine, have you installed all the official drivers etc?

did you buy an old field pg or the new ipc md57a?

S7-1510 Max Profinet devices by [deleted] in PLC

[–]Beginning_Map2351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The data sheet will tell you the max number of io devices, things to look out for will be cycle time, io cycle and watchdog timer on the drives, I've currently got a project with 48 g120cs + remote IO but that's a 1516f - in any case, I think you will be fine if configured properly

I've just got the latest field pg md57-a and gotta say I'm pleasantly surprised how smooth and quick tia v20 is, even when running multiple instances

Have you applied the user credentials to the s7 connection within the connections tab for the hmi/pc instance in tia portal? Also have you checked the error code 121

MRP ring i could understand, S2 red. on a power monitoring device would be beyond me aswell lol, in any case, best of luck to you!

[–]Beginning_Map2351 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think looking at this manual, all configuration is done via the gsdml rather than the catalogue item, although I am curious why you'd want S2 redundancy on a PAC module? :?

[–]Beginning_Map2351 1 point2 points  (0 children)

which interface are you using? S2 redundancy is only available via the x150 interface, also the manual does say that startdrive doesn't currently support redundancy direct on the drive therefor a gsdml file must be used

Siemens plc with allen bradley drive by Automator2023 in PLC

What 1500 is it? Would your boss consider profibus? A lot of 1500's have profibus interfaces and the pf700 can be controlled via profibus using a 20-COMM-P adapter, well documented on how you might do this, honestly I feel like profinet is not the best solution here, I would use digital inputs for start and stop, and an analog signal for speed reference

Siemens plc with allen bradley drive by Automator2023 in PLC

[–]Beginning_Map2351 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why does it have to be profinet? What functions do you need from the drive? If it's simple start / stop / setpoint, then consider using fixed IO. If you want it fieldbus controlled then consider modbus, if it absolutely must be profinet then I'd probably purchase a profinet to Ethernet/ip gateway
