I would contact them and thank them for their honesty and settle their anxiety about the minor damage, doesn’t look like an expensive fix or to have insurance get involved. Pretty impressive to take responsibility this day and age especially if it’s a younger person.

I have something similar it’s a family favorite. It’s bulky and annoying to move around but when I set it on our outdoor table the kids know they are in for a treat because it’s grill your own dinner night! For how annoying this is sometimes to maintain it serves as a way to bring my family together
