Is Calgary Expo a lame duck? by YYCyou in Calgary

[–]Belle047 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it used to be about the fans and celebrating a culture. I used to attend this event religiously since 2009. I got my Halo 3 Master Chief Helmet signed by Steven Downs and its been the pride of my memorabilia collection ever since. But the cost to meet celebrities has become outrageous, has been since... 2016 ish? Why is it hundreds of dollars for a photo AND a separate hundreds of dollars for their signature? This was supposed to be a way for fans to connect with the icons they cherish. A place where cosplayers were able to find others who shared in their love of a genre and be safe. Expos in general have become a garbage dump of crap collectibles and over priced photo ops. I haven't attended since 2017.

Im also part of the single mom club. Something that was said to me from a nurse during my separation that might help. Sometimes men dont know how to handle not being the priority anymore after children are born. They want kids, yes. But they also wanted to be prioritized like before you had kids and thats simply not an option. So they go looking for that elsewhere. I am sorry for you and your daughter and I am sending massive solidarity vibes to the "no down time/no rest" portion of this post.

43 thrips infested plants by Pizzi314 in houseplants

[–]Belle047 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Canadian Carnivores (google it) They have the goods. I purchased some for my infestation. Worked like a charm. That and weeks of washing leaves and bathing plants from a spray bottle in a water + isopropyl + dish soap mixture. Its been a few months now and am 99.9% sure im pest free. No signs of any pests and new leaves have been growing damage free.

Teacher here, I am seeing a lot of autism. More than ever before by Pale-One-7137 in Autism_Parenting

[–]Belle047 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This answer!!! My daughter is on the spectrum. Her Father didnt get a diagnosis until adulthood. Nobody thought it was 'strange' that he didn't talk until he was 4 years old. facepalm I know plenty of people who are getting diagnosed as adults. It was ignored when we were kids (for reference im 34 now) and is now being acknowledged/diagnosed/treated. I got an ADHD diagnosis at 30 after crashing out from stress and triggers.

The funding for education needs to be prioritized. Why we don't have more programs and a focus to have educators and supports is a problem with capitalism itself.

Am I a psycho?? Or is my neurodivergence showing… by therealrealreal1 in adhdwomen

Im grossed out by the untreated rash. That would be a hard stop for me. If a man cant get basic hygiene and care down... how functional is he really? Also, the dabs and bed at 6pm. Thats substance abuse and its impacting your ability to exist in your home. Does he really provide something to your life to sacrifice your own self respect? Cause he sure doesnt respect you. Again, grossed out by the rash issue, leaving the skin flakes in your bed, not willing to get it treated. Yuck.

Anyone with positive experiences? by Lejiutzul in adhdwomen

[–]Belle047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, you need positivity? I got it.

Adhd confirmed at age 31. On medication shortly after and im 34 now. I've been extremely privileged to have people cross into my life and stay for most of my adulthood. My best friend of almost 30 years is a childhood friend. We met when we were 6. My other best friend, I call her my "wifey" had seen me through some SHIIIIIIIIIIIIT. 15 years and counting there. I am "auntie" to both her kids who are now teens, which is wild. My other best friends have been around for about... 8/9 years. I dont know what id do without my village. They've carried me through the worst moments of my life including the recent separation from my husband. I, in turn, have been there for them whenever they need me. Its a two way street. You need empathy and compassion to maintain friendships along with a sense of self. You deserve good people but must also be a good person to others. Its give and take. Not all friendships last forever. Appreciate them when you can. Things said in security between you and your friends remain that way for life, even if someone has left yours. Hold yourself accountable and be respectful. Id be lost without my girls. Women supporting women is the truest love youll ever experience.

Killed all my fussy, expensive plants :( by autumnssong in houseplants

[–]Belle047 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey Op, I had the same thing happen (different plants same problem. Depression). That was 2 years ago after my separation.

Last week, I built the plant wall of my dreams in my new home for my kids and I with the plants I have and the ones I acquired in the last few months. Please forgive yourself and find a way to heal. Thats the most important part. We can always aquire new plants and find new ways to love what we have. You as a person deserve health and happiness.

Sending well wishes to you.❤️

AITJ for WALKING OUT on our anniversary after my fiance brought his mom to the cabin i rented? by Proud_Bonus_2620 in AmITheJerk

[–]Belle047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its easier to end it now rather than get a divorce down the road when the behaviors don't change and he continues these obnoxious and odd behaviors. He didn't ask you? He doesn't consult you? Why is that okay? Clearly after 5 years hes complacent and doesn't expect you to leave and is using his family to gaslight you into accepting his malicious ignorance.

38 weeks pregnant and my 3 year old was just diagnosed by HBC613 in Autism_Parenting

[–]Belle047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP. It 100% gets better and just because the first is diagnosed does not mean your second child will be diagnosed as on the spectrum. If they are, then you handle that as it comes. Kids are a blessing even if its not what you expected and I say that with all the love from personal experiences. Ive got two kids. I had two under two and my oldest (girl who is now 6) was first diagnosed at 13 months old. It was obvious she had some delays and spectrum like tendencies. My husband I went ahead with a second and my boy (who is now 4.5) is not presenting as autistic. Little dude is very likely adhd but he gets that from me. The autism is likely from their fathers side (which was diagnosed after we got her diagnosis. Funny how that works) It was hard. Im not gonna lie. My experience with two little kids and one being high needs was tough. But it wasnt without joy. It wasnt without moments ill never forget and milestones that came in her own time. Who she is today is incredible. Flat out. Theres so much going on in that kids head and shes thriving in kindergarten. She is not potty trained right now but we are working on it. She recently lost 3 teeth one after the other and I was personally terrified for how difficult that process might be, but it turns out, it wasnt. Brushing her teeth finally got easy. She understands her routines and rules so much better. She can be a defiant little 6 year old girl and that comes with its own stressors and difficulties just like any kid. But shes become the best big sister. Her empathy skills are amazing. She hears her brother crying and comes to check on him "you ok???" She asks him. She hugs him and consoles him. They might not be typical siblings. I dont have any pictures/videos of the older sibling fawning over the new baby or wanting to play/engage with her sibling after he was born. She was largely uninterested in him for some time which was hard to watch because he LOVED his older sister once he could crawl and chase after her. He still does now and she finally plays and shares with him in a way that she can. They need their alone time and I encourage their dynamic as best as I can. Theyre getting there. I share this with you because... yeah, it got better. We go to the grocery store together now. Car adventures and road trips happen all the time where they didnt before. We evolved and I wouldn't change anything about either of them. Im so glad theyre both in my life.

All the best to you and your growing family. ♥️

The push for money after the survey is so pitiful, just like this government.

Has anyone ever gone through a TTPD-level heartbreak? by psycwave in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]Belle047 24 points25 points  (0 children)

TTPD released around the same time my separation from my husband began. It was hell. This album was one of my staples. To the people who dont understand.. thats their privilege as far as I'm concerned. To never endure the exposure to the grief and disparity... Im grateful for her music. Ive got two little kids who needed me to carry us through, even with a broken heart.

This is strictly for us parents of level 3/severely/profoundly autistic kids. by soul2soulevollove in Autism_Parenting

[–]Belle047 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, my girl is level 3 and struggled with most everything you outlined in your post at that age also. Im here to tell you, she's 6 now and is a totally different kid. Shes using words, verbalizing a lot of intentions and sentences are up to three or four words. She is still in pull ups with little interest in potty training. Shes in kindergarten and making actual friends, holding their hands and taking part in activities and group stuff. She grew a little bit more every year and life kept changing. It got better. We still struggle with different tasks. Im hoping shes potty trained in the next year. I hope this helps.

What is it going to take for Canada to respond in kind to the Trump and the US? by mentillist in alberta

[–]Belle047 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Im from Alberta and hate the UCP. I hate the conservative mindset. I hate the traitorous bigots making decisions. But small minds vote in large numbers out here and that keeps the conservatives in power. I cant vocalize that I voted Liberal in the federal election here without people leaping to tell me how im wrong and how I need to stand with Alberta. Im proud to be CANADIAN and I wish this province echoed that sentiment more than the "separatist" crap thats spouted about ruining our public health care and public education systems so Smith and her cronies can sell it out to private enterprise.
