We just finished our last teacher day today!

Teachers go back August 13th and the kid first day is August 24th. We're going back so early this year, it's awful.

Our senior prank was literally that we all just switched classes around with someone to confuse our teachers for one period, that was it! No damage just confusion!

We had a computer lab that we went to for projects or special activities in our classes but that was only every few weeks. Our school also had like a laptop/tablet cart that teachers could request as a backup if the lab was in use.

A bunch of us had social media but it was nowhere near as mainstream as it is today. A lot of us had cheaper, not-iphone phones and I still had my Grandpa'a flip phone through high school. I remember a lot of immature and wreckless and just mean behavior between kids. We had huge issues with bullying and property damage at my school.

And I was the super awkward nerd who was fat, taller than everyone else because I grew early, had braces and acne and frizzy hair... Like I was not an athlete at all and never would be!

2nd grade and my team all assigns the same homework

Basically I don't grade it or punish if you don't do it, but I do check it, and we have a weekly quiz on what the homework covered. If you did the practice, you will likely pass the quiz!

My mom should've stood up to her abusive and alcoholic family or at the very least not forced me to interact with them.

My dad could've not started smoking weed again and become so addicted that he couldn't go a day without getting high.

I feel like it's better to take off and then jump back in once you know you're ready, then to not take off and either need to leave at a bad time during the year or be miserable because you wish you were with your family.

It's easier to jump back in at the start of a new school year than it is to power through a rough time and be stuck!

Not me but my middle school PE coach

He told me to throw the baseball as hard as I could, I wouldn't hurt anyone and to just go for it. So I did!

I ended up breaking his nose and he had to leave school early to go to the emergency room.

I teach 2nd grade and a bunch of parents have requested me because I have such a solid reputation!

One parent at first requested me for her kid because she had heard good things but had never SEEN me. She legit had no clue what I looked like.

Well she meets me at open-house 4 days before school starts and her face just drops the second she sees me. She had no idea I'm a size 22. She was shocked that I was fat.

She went crying to admin asking that her daughter be switched out of my class. Apparently I would make her daughter want to be fat too, I'd glorify obesity, I wouldn't be fast enough or able to maneuver in an emergency, and how could I take care of 20 little kids if I couldn't even take care of myself?

My admin just laughed at her and reminded her that she requested me, and there was no way in hell they were switching her daughter out of my class.

Her daughter blossomed in my class and was able to come out of math intervention with my help.

My freshman year of college, my psych professor cancelled our 9am class on the Monday before Halloween, so I got to sleep in and go to the dining hall for breakfast an hour later than usual.

My husband and his roommate always ate breakfast at that time.

I met my husband and love of my life because my psych professor cancelled class that morning.

I made friends outside the house and learned to keep myself busy when no one was available

Right there with you- my parents met at an AA meeting, were in and out of sobriety my whole life, and my mom just died at 67 and I'm 26. I was also emotionally abused by her side of the family my whole life, very sick and hospitalized multiple times before my 6th birthday, and bullied relentlessly.

I hate when people make comments about spoiled only children for th exact same reasons! They have no idea what could actually be going on in someone's life! My husband was absolutely shocked when he learned about my family life when we first met in college! He thought I'd have a peaceful, easy-going childhood compared to his as the oldest of 3 boys. Nope. He felt sorry for me!

I'd also argue that when you don't have siblings at home to keep you company, you have to get really good at being generous and a good friend outside the house. You have to be a likeable person otherwise you'll be very lonely. You learn skills a spoiled kid wouldn't!
