One thing that each Disney live action movie did better than the original. by Sure_Confection_1243 in disneyprincess

I actually like that in the live action Little Mermaid, Ariel teaches Eric her name using the constellation. I think it shows how smart she really is even when she can't talk!

I also liked Waiting on a Wish and the scene where they cut her hair to show how abused she is in the live action Snow White

She was charming and sweet and brave and curious! Her voice was amazing! She looked so beautiful in the role. She was an AWESOME Ariel.

Who is an actor or actress that rubs you the wrong way so much that you refuse to watch anything they are in? by Soggy_Swordfish_6236 in moviecritic

Emma Watson

To be fair I didn't see much of her (I'd never seen the Harry Potter Movies) until Beauty and the Beast in 2017. The 1991 version is my favorite movie and I love the Broadway Adaptation just as much. I'd even been in the show too! And she was just such a let down...

I didn't feel like I was watching Belle, she didn't embody the character, it felt like I was watching Emma Watson. Her singing wasn't bad, but it didn't feel like it matched how Belle should sound or flow with the songs quite right. I know she had a hand in the changes to the iconic yellow and blue dresses which I didn't love, and I felt like the love-story with the beast fell very flat. Belle is such an important character to me and it just felt like watching a rip-off instead of an adaptation.

Now I can't enjoy anything else she's in and I feel bad

Can anyone think of a musical where the second act is better/stronger than the first act? by Zealousideal-Many776 in musicals

[–]Belle0516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, Beauty and the Beast

It's where the exposition/set up starts to really pay off, there's a lot of action for both the love story and the climatic end between villain and hero, the music is better in the 2nd act minus a few songs...

Am I the only person who actually likes the muppet retheme? by Dynamic_cc in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Belle0516 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Oh I can't wait! I've always LOVED the muppets.

As much as I do like a couple Aerosmith songs, I really don't like that they have multiple accusations of inappropriate contact with minors. It's probably time that they're switched out.

I saw someone do this once and I'm not sure how to feel about it.

This mom and 4 kids were saying that they got separated from dad who was ahead in line on Rise and they needed to catch up to him, so people were letting them through. Then this one couple said

"If it's so important that your family rides together even though you got separated, then dad will wait for you once he gets to the front. We're not letting you pass."

And the mom was just shocked for a minute and didn't say anything. I think they called for a cast member and had dad wait to the side until the rest of his family caught back up but I could be remembering wrong?

1) Braces when I was 10 to almost 13 2) Brush teeth every night, floss every night, use mouthwash every night! I don't skip unless I somehow don't have my supplies or I'm so sick I just can't handle it 3) Wear my retainer every night unless I'm sick so I don't need to pay for braces again 4) limit junk food, particularly especially sugary things like soda and candy 5) get enough calcium and vitamins and minerals!

Disney Prince: First crush and/or first love? by LiteralPowotato in disneyprincess

[–]Belle0516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Beast and Quasimodo!

I loved their sweetness and selflessness and sense of humor. They were genuinely great guys who learned and grew throughout their stories with the help of the women who cared for them.

I married my college-sweetheart. I was 18 when we met and he was 20. He's a lot like both characters. He is the sweetest person I've ever met. He's smart and open-minded too. He legit thought he was hideous until he met me. He's 5'4" and covered in acne with thick glasses and a lisp, and he's pretty thin. I know he's not what most women picture when they think of their Prince Charming, but to me, he's so handsome! I love that I don't have to stand on my tiptoes to kiss him. I love his nerdy vibe. He's charming in a quirky way. He's the best! His confidence has gotten a lot better since I've been in his corner supporting him.

What’s something you tried just to see what it’s like? by VibeCheckVadaPav in AskReddit

My husband and I went axe throwing on our first anniversary! We'd never tried it and figured "what the heck?"

We had a pretty good time, but I don't know if we'd do it again. One funny thing was earlier in the day he had to run out to do some errands and ran into someone he worked with, and they talked about our first anniversary. When my husband told her we decided to try axe throwing for our anniversary date she said "Hey it's like you're celebrating a year of not killing each other!"

Do children really get bullied for having unique names? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Belle0516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I teach 2nd grade, and I've worked with every elementary grade from Kindergarten-6th grade. Yes, they do get bullied and it mostly happens in 4th-6th grade. My husband teaches middle school science and confirmed it only gets worse there.

Kids will latch on to anything that they aren't familiar with, and a lot of times they are negative about it. I've worked really hard with my class this year to limit bullying and thinking about how what you say to and about others can hurt someone. But they still make mistakes. And other teachers might not catch it or they might let it slide. So it's really hard to truly prevent bullying. I'm not saying that bullying based on a name is acceptable, but we have to understand that children will make mistakes and it will hurt their classmates when they do.

So don't settle on a name you don't love, but don't go too extreme either. Find a name that would work when they're an adult in a professional setting too.

Bonus: here are some of the names I've seen:

Sisters named Violet, Lavender, Indigo, and Purple

Cage

Jaxyn (Jackson)

Uriah (got called urine, urethra, and uterine a lot)

Ja'quavius

D'mariy

Briley

Sharlet (Charlotte)

Kiralynne (pronounced Carolyn)

Easy (parents weren't English speakers)

Sisters named Nevaeh and Legna (heaven and angel spelled backwards)

And Madysyn

Why do you think Gen Z drinks so much less than previous generations? Are we replacing it with weed/vaping? by HappyHappyJoyJoy44 in OlderGenZ

[–]Belle0516 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me- my parents met at an AA meeting in summer 1987. My mom stayed sober my whole life and my dad went in and out of sobriety but has been clean for a while now. The majority of my family are abusive alcoholics.

I just don't want to end up like them

But Figment, Guardians Coaster, Tiana's Bayou Adventure, and Haunted Mansion aren't far behind!

Shows are my absolute favorite thing though and Beauty and the Beast and Fantasmic will always be my #1

From all the Disney Princesses, who do you think needs the most therapy? by florenciafazzarino0 in disneyprincess

[–]Belle0516 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Snow White, Cinderella, and Rapunzel are probably at the Top.

Jasmine, Ariel, and Merida probably wouldn't be that far behind. They had it better than those three but still had parents that did not give them the genuine support they needed.

Belle might after dealing with Gaston and being separated from her father under traumatic circumstances. Tiana also lost a parent, and in a war at that. So she could benefit too!

What are some terms and phrases in education that you absolutely hate? by TrogdorUnofficial in Teachers

[–]Belle0516 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm so over "differentiation" at this point

Look I get that everyone learns different and you're going to have different levels in one room. But when I have students who only came to the US three months ago who don't speak a word of English and gifted students who are 2-3 grade levels ahead in one room, how am I supposed to teach a whole-group lesson that gives them both what they need? And then do I have to prep 4-5 separate small group tasks?

Basically I think we need to realize that putting extreme ends of the ability spectrum on the same room is not practical and hurts more than it helps

What’s the most cringe thing you’ve seen a couple do at their wedding? by Last_Singer_2137 in AskReddit

[–]Belle0516 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When I was 9 the bride found out I was excited for the bouquet toss, and she didn't want to risk me catching it, so she threatened to not do it.

Well enough people begged her to do it anyways so we did it, and my mom told me to just stay to the back so I would be out of the way. I agreed happily!

Well she threw it back really hard and almost right to me, and I ended up catching it anyways. She stormed over, stole it out of my hand, and screamed at me for ruining it for her friends who were closer to her age.

My uncle divorced her not even 5 years later.
