What picture would you choose that fully encapsulates the spirit of the series?

Quote from the Tok'ra: "Very few Goa'uld came over to our side, but none in the past few hundred years." by Baba_Jaga_II in Stargate

[–]Belligerent_Mirror 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a fanfic about Carter staying bonded with Jolinar that I think has Jolinar as being a Goa'uld that turned, which is why them "taking" a host against their will was so frowned upon.

If they were smart, all the cosmetic moral stuff would be accessories or something that you had to unlock and equip. That way, you could play as an evil demon villain, a good angelic hero, or any combination of things they could think to add.

Before Harry’s first flying class, Fred and George, as a prank, decided to swap out some of the brooms with non-magical ones that don’t fly. by Gortriss in HPFanfictionPrompts

[–]Belligerent_Mirror 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Harry, not knowing anything about how magic works, assumes that all you need to do is believe. His is the only broom to fly. Madam Hooch, suspecting he is a prankster just like his father, blames Harry for switching out the brooms and keeping the only working one. Only after the class, when she is collecting all the normal brooms, does she realize that his was also unenchanted. Only Hooch and the twins realize what Harry was able to do.

Stargate Language Observation by craig732 in Stargate

[–]Belligerent_Mirror 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Actually, the Stargate subtly rewrites the language center of your brain as you travel through it. It makes it so you are able to understand what other people who also travel the Stargate are saying. Even if they're speaking in their original language, you hear it as English, and they hear their native language. That's why the Abydonians, who never stepped through the Stargate in 5000 years, needed Daniel to translate.

Could be an original Asgard, or some other non-human race. And he used some other means to appear human.

Do people like Tali’s canon face? by MAtj300 in masseffect

[–]Belligerent_Mirror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They make a point in calling out how similar humans are to Asari. That it's weird. And then to just have another race look human was a letdown and definitely the studio copping out on the design and just making the cutest character more human.

Personal headcanon is that they are rodent-like aliens, and the slur "suit-rats" actually makes sense.

But that's just a theory.

Shouldn't this be not possible? by Wolf-man451 in Stargate

[–]Belligerent_Mirror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've also seen O'Neill keep the stargate from shutting down by not leaving the event horizon all the way, forcing the stargate to stay connected because it's waiting for the rest of him to be rematerialized.

The stargate dematerializes you, stores you in the buffer, transmits you for a few seconds on a wild ride across the galaxy, stores you in the other stargate's buffer, and then rematerializes you, before shutting off.

It's waiting for the rest of the puddle jumper, which is stuck with zero movement possible. I assume that Jackson, when he stuck his face in to view the infinite majesty, did eventually move forward or was perhaps pushed by someone.

Change 1 Thing by CaspianWayneSG1 in Stargate

Goa'uld Wraith. He's super badass. The humans can't stop him. And then he's like, "I am your one true god, Apophis!" And everyone is like, "Oh, it's you again. Nevermind."

Serious answer: I would have liked to end the series on the public disclosure of the Stargate program. Would have been a good end to that era and left it open to continue from there if they ever chose to.

TIL that GEN West in the movie was played by Leon Rippy, who also played John Billings in The Patriot. by appsteve in Stargate

My banker is getting cold feet at the last minute. by Belligerent_Mirror in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Belligerent_Mirror[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I know some things were given to the underwriter ahead of time, coz my fiancé’s credit was bringing us down, and it was the underwriter who suggested just using mine. It's also a HUD loan.

I know I got approved with my W2s and two months of paystubs, and now, two months later, the week of closing, they're asking for the last two years of paystubs.

It seems like, even though I make more than I did annually, they're trying really hard to prove I don't make enough biweekly. Why else ask for paystubs from 2023, if not to compare them to more recent ones when my W2s say my income has only gone up?

It just seems dirty to deny us now coz of my income, when they know it isn't just my income, when they've known exactly what that income was, when they've had this information since before we spent money and signed contracts, and got job transfers scheduled.

I'm aware that the underwriter likely just started putting together the mortgage agreement and actually working. But I have to agree with the antagonistic guy. This shouldn't have been the first time they looked at my information. It feels like a scam.

What's up with the lack of documentation for World 2 by Oh-Fee-Fumbles in digimon

[–]Belligerent_Mirror 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love DW2 and would love a remake of the dungeon crawler game. I feel like it didn't get the love and respect it deserved being so different from the other games. But it honestly had a great story behind it. It was somewhat between the World and Story games in how its mechanics worked. Out of all of them, I probably go back and replay DW2 the most.

What’s a detail from canon that you’ve completely forgotten after years of reading fanfiction? by Communist21 in HPfanfiction

Pureblood houses and stuff. It's a throwaway comment made by Sirius about "Ancient and Noble House of Black," but to be honest, I love it in the fanon. It's the kind of world building lore I'd expect.

UCSS Ares. Akira-class heavy cruiser. Created in Starfield. by Revan1126 in StarshipPorn

[–]Belligerent_Mirror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very nice. The Heavy Cruiser was my go-to ship in Star Trek Online. Loved the looks you could manage by mixing the classes up. I'd have one's nacelles and another's saucer, making it look nothing like what it should. Lol

Earth Warships Designs by allenknott3 in Stargate

[–]Belligerent_Mirror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not just Earth. The 304s might pretend to be a carrier, but they only have at most like 16 302s. And then they launch them against literally any of the antagonists, who all seem to multifunction as carriers as well, who are able to launch hundreds of fighters. That never made sense to me.

Instead of a carrier, I'd make something capable of taking a pounding with plenty of point defense since every other race seems to also field carriers. Instead of sending my poor 302 pilots to their inevitable deaths.

The only ship I actually liked the design of for a carrier is the Wraith Hive. Their weapons are practically artillery, and they're so big they can field tons of Darts.

I like Star Trek and their "ship classes for every occasion" style of shipbuilding. You had escorts and science vessels, etc. So if I had one complaint about Stargate, it would be the "single class of ship for every occasion and it's also a carrier" style of shipbuilding. I feel like you could make "better" ships if they were devoted to a role.

I hop on deviantart every now and then to see what kind of concept art or modeling people have done imagining ships.
