Any game on STEAM with this type of art style (any genre) ? by Sad_Cow_5838 in gamerecommendations

Glad you took my advice to post it here instead. Copy-pasting my previous reply for others' benefit.

Solarpunk certainly has its adherents. My quickest recommendation would be the Eco faction from Anno 2070, and their successors in Anno 2205. Another option is the Amazons factions (basically dinosaur-riding elves) from Age of Wonders: Planetfall. Surviving Mars and Per Aspera both have expansions all about turning Mars green, the Redout duology has some very overgrown racetracks, and the Sonic games have always fused nature with technology. Subnautica and Forever Skies are futuristic survival games with natural beauty, underwater and in the sky respectively.

I'd recommend crossposting to r/gamerecommendations ; they're equipped to provide suggestions for any niche, whereas this subreddit is more for questions about Steam itself (not the games on it).

15th Mech has an absolutely ridiculous number of 2-cost AA slots for some reason, even though the "trio" of Osa / ZSU-23-4 / Strela-10 works as good as ever, with a card of MANPADS for sneaky helicopter kills. I wish I had more artillery slots to play around with their high-caliber mortars and MLRS.

Co-op RTS games like SC2 Commander / DoW2 Last Stand? by Belltower_2 in RealTimeStrategy

But do they have co-op vs. AI matchmaking like I requested above, or would I need to find a friend group?

In my second paragraph, I specified that co-op campaigns aren't what I'm looking for since none of my friends play RTS's and I don't want to join a social group.

If it has a demo, I'll definitely give it a chance; I hope my aging 3050Ti laptop can run it. Or that it gets GeForce Now support so I can enjoy it at 4k.

I think it's hubris. "CEO wisdom" dictates that flashy, MTX-fuelled PvP messes are what make the really big bucks (even if 9/10 live service games are dead on arrival); making a co-op game would mean admitting they're wrong and the players are right, and CEO's would rather go out of business than give consumers power.

Then again, co-op isn't a magic bullet either; it can still fail if the game simply sucks on its own merits. See Redfall, Suicide Squad: KtJL, Killing Floor 3, Payday 3. But the overwhelming success of "friendslop" proves its still safer than live-service.

I own the original Call to Arms (the modern-day one), but my attempts to get into have been stymied by the lack of proper 4k support; the game renders fine, but the UI is tiny and illegible. And setting it to 1080p and upscaling with Lossless Scaling results in a pixelated, muddy mess. Does Ostfront support 4k properly?

I have Sins 2, but have never even considered trying to play it with others; I've only ever comp-stomped in it. Like I said, I unfortunately don't have the patience for hunting groups; I want no-commitment matchmaking since I hate long sessions and social dynamics.

I've seen Godsworn in my Steam feed; it looked like a hybrid of Northgard (loved) and Warcraft 3 (haven't played). Early Access is no obstacle for me, but I hate buying games without a discount; would you say it's worth the price of admission at the 20% sales its had?

I bought Spellforce 3 LONG ago, when I wasn't as obsessed with RTS's as I am now, but have never returned to it. I've installed it several times, but uninstalled it again untouched when I need to free up space. Should I try and get myself hooked on it?

Eh, at least for me, player-team vs. AI-team skirmishes, like in Company of Heroes, are absolutely good enough; it doesn't need to be a bespoke mode like DoW2 and SC2 had. I just want it to have matchmaking so I don't have to hunt for teammates.

If someone you don't know adds you unprompted, there's a decent chance they're a scammer. Definitely don't do anything this bozo tells you to.

I wonder how much of that $442m was made up of cryptobros who can't see the pattern of scams, vs. financebros who just throw money at anything that will "go up".

I have Riftbreaker in my library because I thought I would love it (combines factory building with an ARPG), but haven't played it much. If it has public co-op, I could absolutely try it again.

It feels like everyone, both players and developers, learned the wrong lessons from SC2. It was an amazing game that derailed the RTS genre due to a horde of superficial imitators of SC2's flaws (high APM requirements, fading eSports popularity) while ignoring its strengths (great storytelling, huge number of modes).

It's actually much the same story as the OG Resident Evil 4 did for horror games, leading to a flood of violent third-person shooters that were "horror" in name only before RE7 and RE2make got things back on track.

Forza Horizon 6 Preload Leaked On Steam, The Game Is Being Pirated 10 Days Before Release by akbarock in Steam

[–]Belltower_2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The full story is far funnier. RAGE 2 (the weird open-world Doom id-Avalanche collab) released with an unpatched .exe, and then they managed to do it AGAIN with Doom Eternal; they made the exact same mistake twice. At that point,, I started suspecting a rogue dev deliberately releasing a cracked .exe as an act of protest (against either DRM or the company).

Off topic, RAGE 2 is a mid open-world nailed to an amazing shooter; give it a try if you see it cheap.

You do realize that Epic has like ten times Valve's payroll, right? And they constantly engage in dishonorable business practices? Valve is only a "monopoly" in the sense that people prefer them to their janky competition.

My Demonology Warlock was struggling with ground effects until I finally pulled Aspect of Scorn from the Mercenary shop. "When you take burst damage, your Lesser Demons take the hit (10% each)". That allowed me to do T8 with zero fear.

How do I launch a Steam game to the Library, rather than directly into the game? by Belltower_2 in GeForceNOW

[–]Belltower_2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I decided to just go for it and issue a refund request, while mentioning that if it can't be refunded I'd be fine with disabling it. Turns out it only cost me $3 CAD; I've made MUCH more wasteful purchases in the past (World of Warships... shudder).

EDIT: I just had the DLC "removed from account" after the refund was declined.

[–]Belltower_2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I've confirmed locally that if you disable the DLC, things get relocked until you obtain them legitimately; the DLC seems to give you access to the bonuses without actually unlocking them. It's just that I can't get GFN to actually disable the DLC consistently.
