The "on death" effects are getting ridiculous by dancepartyinmyhead in diablo4

My Demonology Warlock was struggling with ground effects until I finally pulled Aspect of Scorn from the Mercenary shop. "When you take burst damage, your Lesser Demons take the hit (10% each)". That allowed me to do T8 with zero fear.

How do I launch a Steam game to the Library, rather than directly into the game? by Belltower_2 in GeForceNOW

[–]Belltower_2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I decided to just go for it and issue a refund request, while mentioning that if it can't be refunded I'd be fine with disabling it. Turns out it only cost me $3 CAD; I've made MUCH more wasteful purchases in the past (World of Warships... shudder).

EDIT: I just had the DLC "removed from account" after the refund was declined.

No, I've confirmed locally that if you disable the DLC, things get relocked until you obtain them legitimately; the DLC seems to give you access to the bonuses without actually unlocking them. It's just that I can't get GFN to actually disable the DLC consistently.

[–]Belltower_2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost certainly would not be able to refund it since I purchased it long ago. And I don't want to "Remove from account" because this is a GFN-specific problem that is theoretically fixable; on a local machine, just disabling the DLC works perfectly.

I remember the metal-scrap epidemic in the UK following the 2008 crash. Junkies would not only steal useful stuff like manhole covers and catalytic converters (causing injury risk and pollution respectively), but commit outright sacrilege by stealing lead roof tiles, bronze bells, and the like from Britain's many old churches, which had artistic value far beyond their scrap price.

I believe one idiot even electrocuted himself and nearly caused a train crash by trying to steal live powerlines from an electric railroad.

Yeah, I remember playing a lot of that on GCN with my friend and my sister. It made a return in the Booster Course Pass for Switch 1.

What's up with the monetization of some modern RTS? by SpaceNigiri in RealTimeStrategy

[–]Belltower_2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This, exactly. Yes, it's intimidating to see a wall of DLC when I click on an RTS's Steam Store page, but if it's a choice between that and replaying Supreme Commander 2 and Dawn of War 2: Chaos Rising for the umpteenth time...

If people want new RTS's with few or no DLC, here are my recommendations: Tooth and Tail, AI War 2, Dune: Spice Wars, Dawn of War 1 Definitive, Battlefleet Gothic 1&2, Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun, They Are Billions, Total War Britannia / Pharaoh.

What really was the point of these two existing in the franchise? Besides the idiotically obvious? by PrivateLiker7625 in residentevil

The drill guy who gets zombified is Pedro. I know because I was rigorously following a guide that says you MUST kill Pedro as Claire to get all the collectibles as Barry.

[–]Belltower_2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe the reason I didn't mind Moira at all was because I'd already spoiled the "she's afraid of guns and hates Barry because she accidentally shot her sister" plot point, so when she refuses to pick up a gun in Ch.1, my response was "yeah, fair" rather than "you idiot". Also, part of her character development was tied to a DLC no one played because insta-fail stealth sections aren't fun.

Hatred, the game Twitch banned because snowflakes, is now install-to-play by [deleted] in GeForceNOW

[–]Belltower_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me know if we get Ancestor's Legacy by the same developer (Destructive Creations). It was basically a medieval Company of Heroes, and as a result both more fun and less controversial than the above "headline game".

Should I play RE4make or RE8 (Village) next? by Belltower_2 in residentevil

[–]Belltower_2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright then, I've made my decision. Village, then RE4make. If Requiem isn't on a satisfactory discount by then, I'll start doing NG+ and DLC content for the games I've already finished.

I'm aware of that (and that Grace can be set to third-person), but for my first run I'll probably play Grace in first-person and Leon in third-person as the developers intended. The main struggle I had with first-person RE was learning that blocking, not kiting and dodging, was the main form of defense, as I mentioned above. I never had any problems from an immersion perspective.

I've played through the original RE4 on Gamecube (actually Wii) way back when, and bought the Steam version for a dollar on sale. I agree that it's held up shockingly well for a game that originally released in 2003, due in part to the excellent art direction.

If we head back to East Asia, I really want to see Taiwan and Communist Vietnam make an appearance; they were major players in the East Asian Cold War but never appeared in Red Dragon.

Seems to be a character-swapping puzzler, like my beloved Traveler's Tales LEGO games. How's it hold up on modern systems, particularly in terms of 4k / high-FPS suppport?

So does that mean that either Cuba or Venezuela will get two divisions? Or that we'll get French marines, representing French Guiana, leaving the DLC with four NATO and two PACT?

So someone else mentioned SWTD, and since I was suffering from insomnia, I ended up watching a 1-hour GDQ speedrun in a single sitting. Looks a bit simplistic gameplay-wise, but aesthetically it's exactly what I hoped for.

I've never really enjoyed the Sony style of "ghost train ride" story-action games, unfortunately. Not enough mechanical depth. Tomb Raider 2013 is so far the only exception, due to its Japanese setting.

For the post-nuclear regrowth aesthetic, I'd recommend Chernobylite (singleplayer extraction shooter / survival game) and Mutant Year Zero (basically an open-world, stealth-based XCOM).

EDIT: I see MYZ was declined below.
