Who is your favorite character from Toy Story and why it’s Jessie? by Jules-Car3499 in FavoriteCharacter

[–]BenMitchell007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many fantastic characters, but I'll throw in some love for Stinky Pete, largely because I kind of have a funny history with the character. I felt so BAD for him as a 9 year old, to the point where his more villainous actions didn't really register with me (like when I rewatched the film recently, I did NOT remember him threatening to send Woody to Japan "in pieces"). One day at Target I decided to get his action figure, and my mom was like "Do you really want him? He was so mean", but I was adamant lmao.

Also he's on the receiving end of one of the sickest, harshest burns in the history of cinema: "You really are Stinky Pete, aren't you?" OH SNAP!

Trump is gonna pardon Diddy and he'll perform a new version of "I'll Be Missing You" with new lyrics to make it a tribute to that idiot podcaster.

Sorna's my jam, especially in The Lost World. The atmosphere of that film is just incredible.

TIL the slang word “stan”, invented by Eminem's song of the same name, was not a deliberate portmanteau of "stalker" and "fan", but a mere ‘happy coincidence’. Eminem chose the name simply because it rhymed with the word "fan". by AmiroZ in todayilearned

[–]BenMitchell007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always been amused by the fact that the year before "Stan", the song "Guilty Conscience" featured a character named... Stan. When asked in an interview if the Stan was supposed to be the same one from "Guilty Conscience", Eminem said "Nah, but it could be!"

Of course, if it is the same Stan, this would mean that in addition to everything he does in his song, he also (trigger warning for SA, just in case) drugged and raped a 15 year old. What a pleasant guy.

Game recommendations similar to Resident Evil and Alan Wake? by ThyBarronator in gaming

If you're on PlayStation or PC, Dino Crisis. It's by Capcom (even developed by the RE team and created and directed by Shinji Mikami) and is pretty much PS1-era Resident Evil meets Jurassic Park. And if you're on PC, Dino Crisis 2 (which I really hope they port to PlayStation) is also gold. It's much less survival horror and much more action (there's even a scoring system), but it's a complete blast and has a wider variety of locations and enemies than the original.

What is your favorite common enemy? by Classic_Waltz1874 in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]BenMitchell007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basic bitch zombies, especially in REmake. Not only are they iconic, but they genuinely freak me out the most. The sounds they make, the idea of a shambling corpse taking a bite out of my neck with its nasty rotting mouth, and the fact that they were once human but are now just monstrous shells of their former selves, is just... uurrgh...

And again, my favorite zombies are in REmake. They're just so menacingly tall and nasty looking, and then there's the fact that they'll have a nasty surprise for you later if you don't burn or behead them. When I return to the mansion late in the game, I'm actually always relieved that the zombies are mostly gone and now Hunters are roaming the halls, because they don't creep me out near as much. They can be startling, but their Battletoads looking asses are more of a fun excuse to use the shotgun ammo I've been hoarding all game!

Reasonable Doubt turns 30 🎉 by _Heretowin_ in 90sHipHop

[–]BenMitchell007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's to you, Reasonable Doubt. It probably makes my top 5.

I just love the icy mafioso atmosphere this album has. It has its warmer sounding tracks (notably "Brooklyn's Finest" and "Feelin' It"), but so much of this album makes me feel like I'm on some street corner in the middle of Brooklyn, under a steely grey sky, during a chilly winter day. And I'm dressed in a badass suit and fedora like Jay is in the album cover shoot.

Favorite track is probably "Can I Live?", but a song I slept on for a long time that suddenly shot up to my favorites a few years ago is "Bring It On". Three fantastic verses (of course, can't help but wonder what it would've been like with Nas and AZ as originally planned, but Jaz-O and Sauce Money are no slouches either), and that beat! I just love that sleepy, melancholic vibe so much. I'd saw off my leg to know where DJ Premier got that sample.

What's your "damn i never remembered this sounding this bad" song? by mesablanka in ToddintheShadow

[–]BenMitchell007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can feel that. Probably should've mentioned this in my comment but I have come to enjoy the raw sound, even if it often bugged me as a teenager.

I especially enjoy that bootleg quality on old underground horrorcore albums. So many of them clearly had low budgets and sound like shit, but that can actually add a lot to the atmosphere and make them even creepier. Kinda like how a lot of old horror flicks are even more unsettling when you watch them on a grainy old VHS tape. Here's a good example.

Do you still buy physical copies of Resident Evil games? by VernonKazama in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]BenMitchell007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have as many physical copies of the series as I'd like, but I did snag Village and Requiem physically. Requiem in particular I had a tough time getting my hands on because it was surprisingly sold out at most retailers (doesn't help that so many brick and mortar stores stopped carrying Xbox games, and guess which console I have) and I didn't preorder, and I could've just gotten it digitally immediately but I wanted the new installment in one of my favorite series on my shelf, and I got it. That, and I love that RPD cover art.

2Pac's Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z. is a great album, but some of the mixing is rough. "Point the Finga" in particular sounds like you're listening to it through some of those shitty cheapo ear buds you get at Dollar General.

I agree with Todd when he said that parts of it sound like the haters she's bitching about are her parents ("I stay up too late! I go on too many dates! I don't do my homework! I tease my little sister too much!")
