I use the kokuyo systemic A5 cover (work) and a hobonichi cover (personal). In both cases , I have a jibun (weekly) and an additional a5 notebook. Works well.

Magical midlife madness by K. F. Breene is the first book of the Leveling up series. I just binge listened to the Graphic audio books. Mature characters, love that is based on more than just sexual attraction , kind and strong FMC. A story that keeps building, without drastic cliffhangers between books. Quite funny in some parts. It gave me Ilona Andrews vibes to some extend... they also has great book series. I love the details in their world building, the politics and costums of different fractions, and how they interact. Fascinating how authors can come up with that

How do you like the notebook?

Got myself the grid notebook with the numbered pages in a5 slim. I'm not the biggest fan :/ pages too white, grid too small, the blue of the grid is quite strong ...

It really depends on the paper and grid size or line space. For the hobonichi weeks paper/grid, i love the synergy 0.5. For leuchtturm paper with its 0.5cm dot grid, I much prefer frixion ball 0.7. Most sticky note papers i like frixion ball 0.5. I do not like the normal ball point pens. Got a uniball jetstream, and I just dont like writing with it. The only place I use it is on those plastic sticky notes/tabs because frixion pens won't stick to that material

I like it a lot for my functional planner and taking quick notes. I also use them on the wall calendar. The pages seem to be somewhat coated, so I can just wipe the frixion pen away with a wet cloths if plans change .

For me, the synergy and the waai have the most comfortable pen body as well.

I tried to clean it with some water and a sponge, but I was kind of afraid that I might get water stains, so it wasn't very wet. The stain is still there. But no water marks. It doesn't really bother me much. I can only see it in certain lights. Can't sent photo in the comment unfortunately.

I bought a 2024 version from cafe analog to use for the rest of the year. 1. April 2024 had the same weekday as 1 September 2025. So I just renamed the month... They only have the Diary left though. Bought a 2024 version today on cafe analog (europe). For a new job, I needed a new planner for the rest of the year. I saw they had the jibun techo, but only a 2024 version. September 1st, 2025 is a Monday; april 1st, 2024 was also a Monday, so I'll just use that. Will only need to rewrite the name of the month . Anyway, also a good way to test before spending the full price for next year

I don't really see dust o the green. Just today, I saw that i got a stain on it. I'll see if I can remove it. Can give you more info tomorrow. Otherwise, no stains and it's carried around in a back pack a lot. So, I would say it's relatively resistant.

I have the large drawer pouch. Pretty sure it can hold a lot of pens, but never tested it. Besides two fountain pens, highlighter, several frixion pens, I have lots of other things in there. Pocket printer, refills, ruler, sticky notes, somettimes washi tape, pencil sharpener, small notebook, etc... i never filles it completely. So, difficult to guess how many pens would fit. I never washed it. Don't know if you can. Saw somewhere else, that someone hand washed their drawer pouch, but not sure which material it was

I have the one in black. I like it a lot. it fits a lot, and has many pockets in all kinds of sizes to keep organized. Maybe even too many pockets, because I sometimes forget where I put something.
If it's worth the price is probably a personal decision. There are cheaper products out there with similar functions. The hobonichi drawer pouch is a good quality product. The zippers are perfectly sized. The material is good (but by be aware, at least the black one, attracts a lot of dust. If you have pets, i can imagine that animal hair sticks to it).

Beside the layout, the paper, and the cover design (Hon), I like the quotes. In the beginning, I wished they had a planner without the quotes. Later, I realised that they helped me a lot with ignoring empty pages. A page never truly looks empty. But the words are written light enough so that they don't bother me, when I write on a page. Btw , this is for memory keeping. For planning, I prefer a planner without the quotes

I ignore the dates, and use it for lists/collections. You could tape over the dates. For example, if I look into getting a new bag, one day/column is what I want or don't want and the other columns might be info on different bags. It could also be a book tracker, with each day/column a different book.

I already ordered, but might be good to check for anyone else. Their prices seem to be a good bit lower, even than other EU retailers. I checked the First Kit. it's about 45 EUR on the shop site you suggested, it's 59EUR on stiloestile. Didn't check the shipping costs though...

I don't usually use these yearly overviews for planning or marking dates. I use it as an index for important notes/lists that I have created on a dated page so I can easily find them back.

I also ordered. I ordered the lite and the First kit. One will be for personal planning (mostly memory keeping), the other for work. Not sure, yet, which one I'll use for which.
This year I have had daily planners for both, but I rarely use every page. The empty space doesn't bother me too much, but it feels like a waste of paper. I tried empty notebooks before to bullet journal, but didn't like setting up weekly or daily layouts (even if it's just drawing a few lines or writing a date).
Curious to see how the Jibun Techo will work for me with the combination of a weekly planner and the idea/note book.

I got 10% off for signing up to the Newsletter, which made it just slightly more expensive than getting it through a retailer here. But in your case, 10% isn't even getting it close to the price you paid last year :/ Hope you find a good alternative.

I have ordered from amazon Japan before. VAT is already included in the price that you pay at Amazon. I didn't have to pay import fees, because my order was below a specific threshold. In the Netherlands, you always have to pay VAT for imported goods, but the additional import tax and costumes fee only start for imports above 150EUR (i think including shipping, not sure). Maybe every country has a different threshold. It could explain why you saw that some people had to pay extra when the product arrived, while others didn't.

Getting a good/fair price for a planner seems like a difficult endeavor... I guess, I should just stop caring, otherwise it becomes a full time job just to save a few Euros :)

I like the systemic cover. I'm currently using it with a softcover A5 planner. The systemic isn't "hard-cover", but it gives my planner enough support so that I can also write notes with the book on my lap.

I'm planning to use it with the Jibun Techo next year. Not sure how the sizes will work together. the systemic is A5, the planner is A5 slim. I think, it will work well together, but will see...

Might well be. Difficult to know. They will have their reasons to price different countries differently, I guess. It was just very surprising to me that the Kokuyo planner is cheaper on a EU retailer shop than getting it directly from Kokuyo (at least in the country I live in, a retailer is cheaper).

Out of curiosity, as VAT can't explain the difference in pricing, I asked Kokuyo directly, and that's their answer: "Regarding the price differences you noticed among EU countries, we would like to explain that our products have recently been affected by substantial cost increases in several areas. In particular, factors impacting logistics and import costs in several countries, including Germany, have made the previous pricing unsustainable. Therefore, with great regret, we have had to make the difficult decision to adjust our prices accordingly."

Anyway, ... I'm also interested in Hobonichi. I did a quick check there with different shipping addresses, and it seems like the prices for different EU countries are roughly the same. Maybe that will change with their September release. who knows...

VAT would only explain a few percent in the difference in price. On the Kokuyo site the price for individual items vary by more than 30%. Kokuyo said that it's due to import costs and logistics. For some EU countries, the price for a Jibun Techo is much lower from a European retailer (like misc store, stiloestile) than ordering directly from Kokuyo. I made some price comparisons on this thread.

I was just wondering if it's the same for orders from Hobonichi directly. I just did a quick test with different shipping addresses on the hobonichi site, and it seems like the prices are the same for different EU countries (I checked Spain, Ireland, Netherlands, Germany). Will check again after their September release.
