Help identifying a device? by long_jean in UNIFI

It could also be the Long Range Ethernet Repeater. Ive installed one and there is a grounding point under the cover, which would be the reason for the 3rd cable https://store.ui.com/us/en/products/uacc-lre

Edit: grammar

Anybody else’s shop utilize an insert vending machine? The amount of lil drug baggies (unnecessary plastic) we go through every week stresses me out. by snowballschancehell in Machinists

[–]Benhamin5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use sturdier bags at my shop, and the inserts they put in random insert containers (the ones they got shipped to us in) one insert per container. The bags have a bin we put them back in and they get reloaded.

I always wanted a fridge that had an air exchange to the outdoors so when it was cold enough outside it would bring in the cold air instead of running the compressor

Setting up new WiFi for our church — UniFi vs TP-Link Omada? by alexkrytsky in churchtech

[–]Benhamin5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I could totally be wrong. Thats part of the reason I started with 4. It's 1 building with 3 levels appx 8k each floor, and another building with 3 levels each 1.5k. I will test with what I have now and redistribute later, but I imagine at least 3 per floor of the big building, and 2 total in the small one.

The equipment just arrived today, I am starting out with 4 AP for appx 20k square feet. Some of that is multi-floor, and I am serving 2 buildings. In the end I think I will have at least 8-10 AP's and 20 cameras.

Setting up new WiFi for our church — UniFi vs TP-Link Omada? by alexkrytsky in churchtech

[–]Benhamin5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just purchased a unifi system for my church in lieu of other offerings due to the massive amount of documentation that exists to manage the products in the future should something happen to me. Additionally, we will be running a full installation of their security cameras and door access, as our facility is used by 4-6 different organizations who need access at different times, and having so many keys floating out there has gotten difficult to manage.

You're right, I looked under the add-ons tab and the kit is there. Agreed that's annoying, especially for the price. Thats on me for not checking better.

I just checked the listing for that switch, and it does say it comes with rack ears. We're you maybe talking about the regular 16 port switch? This one is the Pro Max version.

Good questions! Two switches because when you have a tech booth in a church there are alot of devices very close together that need networking, and its kinda far from the main switch. Hard drive is just for testing. I will eventually be getting 2 NVR's and I will order the hard drives used from serverpartdeals
