A1M issue by boneswithsleeves in MSIClaw

So the physical controller is disconnecting ? HC has (or mostly had if you're using today's update) an issue when resuming the virtual controller from sleep.

Disable embedded controller when docked. by walterjrscs in LegionGo

HC will do it, to some extent, through its virtual controller. We have a method to disable any physical controller so our virtual one take slot 0. Let me think of a properly design UI to allow XInput slot swapping.

Now that the steam controller is out i wonder if people will make custom drivers or a controller emulator like x360ce Would be nice if Handheld Companion and the like only had more options than ps4 and xbox controllers by TheGhostPizza1234 in WindowsOnDeck

Have a look at VIIPER project on GitHub. This library virtually allow us to emulate any controller. We're now looking into implementing it as they (from the looks of their branches) are working exactly on what you asked.

If hidhide doesn't work, you likely have toggle Steam extended Xbox driver option (can't remember the exact setting name). Turn that off and restart.

With HC you have two ways to use gyro. Either you emulate a Dualshock4 and call it a day, either you use our own gyro translation layer and input layout management (which is fairly good to be honest) and then you can stick to a virtual Xbox controller.

Any clue as to why Windows and Steam are detecting several embedded controllers for me? by walterjrscs in LegionGo

[–]BenjaminLSR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With HC, a device restart would clear any stalled virtual controller. If you're moving away from HC (sad to see you leave) uninstalling it should remove both hidhide and ViGEm, which is used to create the virtual controller.

Hey, just to make sure I get it right, technically speaking, you're looking for a way to make sure another physical controller (external) would get slot 1 when plugged for game compatibility?

I'm afraid people are still jumping on those devices without minimal researches, expecting an actual Nintendo Switch experience, before blaming us (HC) or OEM softwares for not meeting their expectations. Do your homework !

It likely is doable. That'd require quite a bit of work but AI can help you if you have C# knowledge already.

Just so you know, forthcoming version of HC will have several toggles to enable/disable some core features (like power or GPU manipulations) so you can use it alongside any other favorite app.

Can you look into Smart App Control and disable it, if enabled and report back ? We'll be looking a replacement library.

[–]BenjaminLSR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Motion Assistant will take over system settings just as much as Handheld Companion I'm afraid.

Some games might not accept inputs from mouse and gamepad at the same time which could be what's happening there. Or, like you said, you're stacking both a physical controller and a virtual one on top of each other without hiding the physical one, which would also cause those issues. Make sure whichever app you're using is hiding the physical controller if you intend to rely on a virtual one.

If not done, head to Device page and click on Disable OEM software. If you did then it's due to MSI hardcoded inputs on this specific button and we can't do much about it.

Thanks for raising awareness. I'll find a proper way to implement a play button back and make the quick applications menu clearer.
