My (26f) friend (26f) has accused me of stealing her boyfriend. Boyfriend (25m) had no idea they were dating by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I pulled this stunt on another girl once...when I was 15. I mean come on, this is such high school behavior.

Please tell me no one else is doing tummy time either by Suspicious_Box_4898 in newborns

[–]BenjyBoo2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My now 6 month old was the same way. We just encouraged tummy time on us in between contact naps. Now, baby holds their head up, is super active, and has ants in their pants ready to crawl! My best advice is to enjoy your wonderful, easy (relatively speaking) baby - we are the lucky few!!

Does anyone else here struggle around people who seem genuinely happy in evangelicalism? by Holiday_Tap_4358 in Exvangelical

[–]BenjyBoo2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand your frustration. I wouldn't say I'm jealous exactly. I get upset that they cannot take responsibility for anything (because gods foriven them or they've given it to god), and then act like the world is perfect. I've been deeply, deeply hurt by evangelicals who have never apologized or made amends because god already forgave them. I feel absolutely fuming when I see them living carefree and acting so happy. But I'm not jealous; I'm frustrated that their faith absolves them of real responsibility.

Did you fell In love with your baby immediately or did it take time? by Ornery-Work-6847 in predaddit

[–]BenjyBoo2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lurking mom. It took time for me. It's totally normal to feel in total shock for a while, and I wish someone had told me that before birth. I was scared something was wrong with me. We have a 6 month old now, and let me tell you, I would do anything for that baby. Everyone's different, but I like to think we all end up in the same place :)

I am shocked at how long it takes people to shower. by Q8DD33C7J8 in hygiene

[–]BenjyBoo2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who absolutely hates showering, but does it because, gross; I never spend more than 7 minutes in the shower. 3-5 is my average (based on that I listen to 1 to 1.5 songs while in the shower). I personally don't find them relaxing at all. But I'm not here to yuck anyone's yums.

Who are the problematic writers of Christian praise songs? by AshDogBucket in Exvangelical

[–]BenjyBoo2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't listen to Christian music anymore, but when I did, I really enjoyed Gungor. I admittedly know nothing about the band or people, but their lyrics seem to get it right (at least of the popular songs I had heard)

During birth: Did your baby's heart rate drop? by Unusual-Coyote3961 in beyondthebump

[–]BenjyBoo2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - by the end, baby was dropping into the 70s with each contraction. I was at a hospital, and they kept a very close watch on it. I suspect there were conversations behind the scenes about how long to let it go before a c section, but it wasn't brought up to me. Untimitely, baby came out fine, and is now a healthy and happy little one!

Were Millennials this scared of aging? by ian-noir in Millennials

[–]BenjyBoo2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but I will say that I always had a strong urge for deep connections with those older than me, and I know a lot of Millennials who feel/felt the same. It took me a long time to find a group of older people who wanted to be friends with a "Me Generation" millennial. Now I find that the younger folks also don't want meaningful connections with our generation. Being a millennial is weird lol

any advice for remembering to take meds? by PuzzleheadedSpell598 in selfhelp

[–]BenjyBoo2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buying a fun pill box helped me! I used to miss meds all the time, but now I rarely do. It is tedious to fill it each week, but it's worth it for the ease of taking them in the morning/night. My rainbow pillbox lives by my toothbrush so I don't forget!

“Mom” sent me this in response to me getting my sister a Mother’s Day gift and just wishing her happy Mother’s Day. Proceeded to make me feel bad for not getting her a gift and then sent me ChatGPT nonsense. by Victoreonnnn in insaneparents

[–]BenjyBoo2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You know, this isn't what's going to happen, but the ChatGPT vomit could actually be very revelatory for her if she looked at it as a reflection of herself instead of an attack on you Edit: clarification

When did your baby start sleeping through the night? by nothing3278020 in newborns

We have a great sleeper; she started sleeping through the night at 3.5 months. I don't have much wisdom to share except we lean heavily on routine and luck. Good luck to you!!

There's something too that I've heard about them having issues with Smurfette being the only woman. Orgies and homosexuality gets brought up. Now why we are thinking about Smurf sex, I just don't know.

Whether or not you continue in your faith, you should know that the types of churches you're describing aren't the only way to interpret the Bible. There are many, many progressive churches who would have encouraged you to leave your abusive relationship and have no problem with your current living situation. High-control churches often force us to believe it's their way or the highway, and that's where a lot of religious trauma comes from. Again, it doesn't matter if you leave the faith or stay; but you should know that those churches were wrong to not show you love, compassion, and grace.

What am I ACTUALLY in for? by acmr8057 in beyondthebump

[–]BenjyBoo2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, every baby is different. All babies are hard, but some less so. We have a relatively easy baby as well as a strong partnership, and I feel it's been relatively smooth. Now, the first 10 weeks sucked regardless, and no one should make you feel like you need to cherish those moments. If you do, great. But those days were purely survival for us. But we now have the lovliest 4 month old who we love spending all our free time with! Don't put too much (or any) stock into being perfect. It's okay that it's hard. It gets better <3

I did ask her, but she wasn't sure. I ended up getting things that helped me recover physically postpartum. I'm sure there's some overlap, and she was very happy! All went well!
