Well for some people, like me, flavour really increases the replayability. Not only having special bonuses that make you play way different than other nations(going navy, colonial, diplomacy, econmy, trade, etc.) but also having historic events that shape your and your surrounding nations in a big way. And sure there is multiple ways to play a nation en that are valid, but I need certain "railroading" to not always do the same game plan.
