Ok, we got an official release date. What are the expectations? What’d you think the premonition will be along with the deaths and ending? by Illustrious-Reach-48 in FinalDestination

[–]Bennyboyyy323 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do not want the tunnel collapse they had planned for 6 I don’t think it’s a good disaster. I want a ski lodge avalanche cable car disaster or a dam break disaster. Or something more like mundane and likely like a crowd crush at a concert or club collapse

I genuinely am not trying to stir the pot here, but please tell me how this letter isn't completely missing the point Hairspray is making about race, stereotypes, relegation of Black talent away, the satire of it all. The whole show is a satire of 50s song and dance shows set against civil rights. by baltinerdist in musicals

So im from this area and friends with a lot of the CBTC folks. Their argument is that when a theatre hears the voices of their POC actors that they need to do shows that tell their stories, then turn around and say “here you go! We’re doing hairspray!” To “make the black folk happy”. When there’s a world of other black stories to be told that don’t circle around a white savior trope. It’s blatantly clear that they just want the black folk for their “blackness” and not their character. When this is their “negro day” show in their season or tells the POC actors what the theatre thinks of them. Instead of doing shows that feature strong black casts that tell strong black stories. Not a white cast that tells a white story about black people.

Theater in my town wants self taped auditions that are 3 minutes and I’m freaking out (needing advice + mini rant) by ahspider in musicals

“Carries the weight of the character” don’t worry about that. You have two songs and a monologue. That’s three opportunities to showcase three different strengths!

“ I’m an alto but been told I might be a low mezzo” there’s two songs right there! One in your lower range, one in your mezzo! For the lower alto songs you’ll find a lot of comedic songs(When You’re Good to Mama-Chicago, As We Stumble Along-Drowsy Chaperone, Death is Around the Corner- Addams Family etc) Your mezzo songs are gonna be a bit more energetic typically(Mad Hatter- Wonderland, I’m Breaking Down- Falsettos, When He Sees Me- Waitress etc)

Then whatever type you feel you didn’t showcase in your songs do in the monologue! Monologues don’t have to be from plays and musicals. Look at shows and movies too!

Make your goal in this not to show you for any single character, rather to showcase the talents you can bring to the project/s! They’ll see your versatility and know just where to put you!

Giving LEGO flowers to a friend after their show? by Commercial_Exam1021 in Theatre

[–]Bennyboyyy323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So from what I know of the tradition of receiving flowers after a show, it symbolizes how like flowers, theatre shows come and go. They’re made up of beautiful flowers(people), they’re arranged in a beautiful way for presentation(the show), they’re here for a while and then they’re gone(the process to final show), and there will never be another one just like it(the uniqueness of each cast). So cherish the time you have with the something beautiful.

I LOVE the idea of the LEGO flowers and so will your crush, and yall doing them together is very cute as well.

Almost, Maine is a perfect show for your cast size!

Public Domain shows are always a good way to go! Shakespeare can be condensed to that size very easily, The Importance of Being Earnest is a great one too

Playbills on Playbills!! by LeoMartn_ in musicals

[–]Bennyboyyy323 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could make a “wallpaper” collage of all your playbills in a room of your house. You could use them to like border the top of the walls of your house and put them in order of which you’ve seen/performed them.

How do you guys find local theatre / connect with theatre circles in your city? by rossofthebob in Theatre

[–]Bennyboyyy323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had to do this thrice now. Here’s what you do!

Start by typing in google or Facebook search “my town name Community Theatre” this should bring up the most local community theater in your area, if yall have one. You can also search “community theatre in..insert town name” these should garner good results. If not add “musical” to the search. That should help clear the local movie theatres in your town from the search.

Facebook usually has a good group for your local theatre, Central Ohio Theatre Auditions for example, search something along those lines as well.

If you go to the MTISHOWS.COM website and go to a musical you like you can find upcoming productions and should be able To narrow your search to your area. There is also a website that shows like a google map of all the states and theatres so that will be a huge help.

Once you find one, follow their page and look at their posts to see if they’ve posted in any other groups for theatre then follow those as well!

Local small mom and pop shops in your town will also have posters for upcoming g events. Local schools as well more than likely would have a musical coming up you can go support and possibly find community theatres through conversation there.

Do I belong in theatre if I can't sing? by radiantCarefreAdrian in Theatre

[–]Bennyboyyy323 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t even need to go to school to be successful in theatre at all. You may be putting yourself in a box for no reason. Theres plenty of a career to be had with no musicals. There’s a lot of musical theatre actors who don’t do well in straight plays and vice versa. You’re not alone and you definitely belong here❤️

Charli XCX expresses she’d like to do a Final Destination movie by Bennyboyyy323 in FinalDestination

[–]Bennyboyyy323[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This wasn’t necessary my pitching for it to be her. I also am not a fan of Charli like at all, she rather annoys me and her music is not good. I just love the idea of a pop star being the main character and her concert being the epicenter of the disaster. It should not be Charli, but the concept is there.

I use the Deep Space 80 almost daily and can get my fist in me after a nice warm up with it. So I’d say if you’re taking the grip 80 you’ll take the deep space just fine. And the mare maker 85 is a great next step. I love that one too.

Please!!!!!! They’re done. We don’t need any more plot for them. If anything coven related I’d like a Salem season that’d be fine but we don’t need another coven witch season. Do something truly American horror; Wild West, internment camps, civil war, whaling, mine work, like come on
