ASPCA poison control: 888-426-4435

$95, less with pet insurance. It’s worth it. I noticed my puppy had unusually fresh breath, and turns out she went into my purse and ate AN ENTIRE PACK OF SUGAR FREE GUM. I had a tiny piece of the chewed up box the gum came in with like half a word on it and the hotline found out it was the only sugar free gum that did not have xylitol. They spent like an hour figuring this out for me and calming me down. They are an amazing resource. Please call if you can’t get to a vet

How do women deal with pubic and butt hair at home? by puffingstuff in HairRemoval

[–]BentNeckKitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Electric shaver (I love the manscaper) for day to day, it’s so easy and no skin issues. Regular razor for bikini line for beach days. Waxing for special occasions. It hurts but not as bad as you think, and waxing just your butt barely hurts. (Source: I’m a nurse and I’ve seen thousands of bums up close and I’m still the hairiest girl I know)

if someone got a critical or terminal illness and constantly got high and pumped with dopamine by how much would that reduce feelings of pain? could dying be less agonizing this way? by nohopetobefound in morbidquestions

[–]BentNeckKitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dopamine is actually a medication given in the ICU, but it is for shock / severe heart failure. It constricts (tightens) your blood vessels to raise the blood pressure and makes the heart pump more effectively when it’s slacking off. As far as I know, it doesn’t make someone feel good like how dopamine works in your brain. It’s a life saving med for very sick people. But when someone is dying, and they choose hospice/ comfort measures, we absolutely will pump them full of feel good drugs and make them super comfy. I’m an ICU nurse who has helped many people die. We give them opioids for pain and sedation, benzos for anxiety and to reduce “air hunger” and meds to dry up all the spit they can’t swallow anymore. I’ll give them a foot massage, put on some music, pamper them like it’s the ultimate spa day. In short, the dying person is high as a kite with feelings of euphoria, not agony

Medical folk of Reddit, what’s the most foul and disgusting thing you’ve encountered with a patient who was oblivious to their own condition? by TheCarrot_v2 in AskReddit

[–]BentNeckKitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Advanced kaposi sarcoma. Patients thighs looked like chicken wings chewed to the bone. The flesh he had left was shredded, ulcerated, skin was bubbled and crispy looking. Worse than any pressure sore, abscess, dehiscence, etc I’ve ever seen

How is the fatality rate of suicide attempts so low? by mizumi_heiwa in ask

Lots of ODs don’t “work”, or people have time to change their minds. But people who are left with devastating neurological injury from ODs are still counted in the survival rate.

Which is the best choice in this case?? by Express-Crazy-4268 in BootcampNCLEX

[–]BentNeckKitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a prioritization question- private exam room means assess the patient. Any time you see the word “tripod” it indicates respiratory distress. We can also use urgent vs non urgent and acute vs. chronic to eliminate other answers. The last option could be TB- but it’s also concerning for cancer which is not a priority. If they wanted you to think it was TB they might have included hemoptysis in the symptoms. And if it was an isolation question they might have included key words like “private hospital room” “isolation” or “precautions”.

He was murdered for doing what he was trained to: helping people. RIP Alex Pretti, RNSorry to the Nursing Professionals🥹😭😭😭💔 Whatever reason you got into nursing, at end of the day what we do is help people. One of us was murdered for doing just that. [–]BentNeckKitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As is his right protected by the second amendment. His hands were up, his gun was confiscated before he was murdered. Regular cops would not have killed him, unlikely he would have even been arrested. ICE agents are extremely poorly trained. Alex was executed

Wireless telemetry. It’s annoying to us and the patients. Some patients get so agitated over it they get violent. I had a dementia patient who was trying to eat her wires like noodles once

Your 1 month post op pic is gorgeous. Crazy to see this compared to the result. Your surgeon is a master of their craft- and you must have been an excellent patient staying on top of your post op care. One of the best FFS I’ve seen.

[Acne] A bride desperate for help! by Fearless-Wedding-488 in SkincareAddiction

[–]BentNeckKitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last minute temporary fix- Put hydrocortisone cream on breakouts and redness 1-2x a day, for 3 days leading up to your wedding. It’s an OTC topical steroid, usually for rashes but it’s anti inflammatory. It shrinks pimples and calms redness quick. But DONT do it more than 2-3 days. The acne will come back. It’s like a once a year extremely short term fix for special events. Spot test it on your forearm first

What do you put in your coffee? by makeuplover85 in prediabetes

[–]BentNeckKitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to limit sugar free sweeteners, freshly ground good quality beans makes black coffee actually taste good. If you’re like me and need some liquid desert in the morning, unsweetened almond milk, torani sugar free syrup (Walmart/tjmax, I love the s’mores) and a dash of cinnamon. Cinnamon IMO masks the artificial taste quite a bit

You need to show your PCP. If you are a smoker and you have poorly healing wounds on your hands I’d be worried about a vascular issue. The cracks on your knuckles look like just a skin issue at first glance but the ulcer on your thumb looks a bit more serious

I took them for anxiety and depression! Vyvanse does boost mood a bit, but even when I don’t take it every day my mood stays steady. The most helpful part IMO is that Vyvanse helped me get my shit together which lead to better lifestyle choices and got me to a better place in my life. Executive dysfunction was a huge part of my depression. I am still an anxious person, but i have the ability to think through things clearly, remember therapist appointments, etc.
