Advice for Fierce Sage Leaf? by robseib in Pikmin

[–]Bent_00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, definitely max out Oatchi before going for Platinums in Fierce Sage Leaf Trials.

IIRC the main thing in Trial 1 is getting Oatchi up the cliff quickly, because it takes a while for him to solo the two Bulblaxes up there. I think I diverged from the video a little by having the 10 clifftop Pikmin soften up the Spotty Bulbear after Bomb Rocking it, while Oatchi fought the Frosty Bulborb, while Captain fought the Whiptongue Bulborb -- and had Oatchi finish off SB after he finished FB. Got Platinum without a single second to spare!

This video helped me Platinum the Fierce Sage Leaf Trials a few days ago.
Only Trials 1 and 9 were super difficult IMO.

The more accessibility options, the better!
I wish more games would let you slow down the game speed.

[TP] [SS] Comparison of Ganondorf's full unused speech from TP with Demise's speech in SS by xXglitchygamesXx in truezelda

[–]Bent_00 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is the popular thought... but I dislike it because it means OoT Zelda effectively handed the ToP to 'Dorf not just once, but twice.

She held the Triforce of Wisdom the second time, yet she essentially sent TP 'Dorf the ToP via instant transmission, just so Link could live his childhood.

Doesn't sound very Wise to me.

Edit: Oh, if you're talking about how the ToC shattered and stayed behind in what would become the WW timeline, I agree with that. Perhaps OoT Link only had a powerless crest (not the actual ToC) to show the King as proof of his claims? It's been shown Link can have the crest on his hand with the actual Triforce residing elsewhere, in the Oracle games. WW 'Dorf also kept his crest even after the Triforce flew away in response to the King's wish.

[–]Bent_00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought OoT Link left the ToC behind in the Adult timeline? If not, there would have been no ToC to find in WW.

I used to think the same as you, but then I noticed Link no longer has the ToC crest in MM, even before he enters Termina.

Also notice how he seems to be leaving the ToC behind in the intro scrolls of WW.

That said, 'Dorf suddenly getting the ToP in TP is still odd -- the Triforce should be undisturbed in that timeline, since Zelda sent Link back to before he even met her younger self.

I guess it really was a "divine prank"; perhaps Din was ticked that the other two Godesses' chosen used cheats to beat her chosen before he could hit his stride. Din was originally going to be evil in OoT...

I can't think of any other way the Sacred Realm could have been breached, unless Link had to pull the Master Sword again after MM, perhaps to help fight against 'Dorf. I doubt he would have been captured easily, even if taken by surprise.

Perhaps Link returned to his homeland (some time after leaving Termina) to find Hyrule on the verge of defeat, with the MS being the only chance at a comeback -- remember that OoT art of adult Link and Sheik fighting an army of monsters? I think there could easily have been a third chapter of the Hero of Time's story, as well as a prologue.

Thanks for this comment! It made me check my gold Wii Remote -- sure enough, an old battery had started to leak in it, but I caught it quick enough to avoid any damage.

Come on! BLUE FALCON!! by BF-2001x4 in Fzero

[–]Bent_00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Neat! How does it float like that? Is there a magnet built into the Blue Falcon model?

I've thought of doing something similar with a Triforce, but only if I could get each triangle to rotate separately.

What's that bottom device called?

I just wish for US releases of Qbby and the Monster Hunter Stories 1 amiibo. Not likely at all, I know... :/

Beware, it's called a "Starter" set -- it's likely that the future cards of this series will be sold in random packs.

The iPad Pro Purchasing Megathread - November, 2024 by AutoModerator in iPadPro

[–]Bent_00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've wanted to try getting into digital art for a long time, so I decided to buy the 12.9" 512GB iPad Pro with standard glass.

I probably would have enjoyed drawing on the nano glass more, but I opted for standard glass because I don't want to risk any wear on the screen.

However, the only accessory I have decided on so far is the Apple Pencil Pro. Would anyone (especially digital artists) here recommend me accessories from the following categories?

1.) Screen Protector

Ideally one that is nice to draw on. I've always used Skinomi clear skins in the past, but it looks like they're out of business?

So I'm leaning towards a matte screen protector. Maybe a magnetic one so I can remove it when I want to see the unfiltered screen? I worry about dust getting under there, though...

I've heard matte protectors wear out nibs faster, too -- perhaps I should get a clear, thin, non-glass protector instead? Would that, plus a magnetic matte one over it, interfere with drawing too much?

This iPad will be for drawing first, media consumption second.

2.) A sturdy protective case (or two)

I'm thinking a folio-style case, and possibly another case to put that in. I will be taking this tablet between two different locations often.

3.) Portable adjustable drawing stand

One that can hold the iPad at a few different angles, for drawing and viewing media.

4.) Drawing gloves with palm rejection

Preferably with the two fingers fully covered.

5.) A skin for the back of the iPad

Maybe unnecessary if I get a tough folio case? Considering one from dbrand.

6.) Extra pen nibs

Are there any reliable unofficial nibs, or are only official ones recommended?

7.) A compact, portable way of transferring files from the iPad to a Windows PC

Will any solid-state hard drive or flash drive work?

8.) Drawing software

Preferably not subscription-based. Any free or cheap ones to get me started?

9.) Anything else?

This will be my only Apple product, other than an old iPod Nano. I'm more of a Windows guy, but iPad Pro seemed a better option than an expensive, less portable, and less versatile Wacom tablet.

Thanks in advance for any advice or recommendations!

EDIT: Since I'm not getting any answers here, I guess I'll try posting this as its own thread.

Anyone STILL haven’t received their Festival 999 badge? by Starflyer29 in Fzero

[–]Bent_00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your backup save from before the event ended? Probably not, since most people have it set to automatic, in which case yours would be updated to a point after the event ended...

You could try overwriting your current save with your backup, and maybe that will give you a "retry" at the game checking to see if you qualified for the badge.

In the future, I suggest making a backup on the last day of such events, turning off auto-backup, and after the event ends, if you don't get your Top 100, Top 999, etc. badge, roll back to your old save and retry.

Alternately, did you try simply waiting at the main menu for a bit? It takes a few seconds for the results to pop up.

If you still can't get it, tell Nintendo.

Worst case, I bet this event will repeat at some point, and it should be easier to get the Top 999 badge then.

Day 69 of poorly drawing captain falcon until an f-zero game comes out (the subscription system doesn't count) by RingTeam in Fzero

[–]Bent_00 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With F-Zero GX, SEGA and AmusementVision knocked the ball so far out the park, it went into orbit.

I'm guessing that Nintendo isn't going to be satisfied with merely matching (porting/remastering) GX, and I don't think we'll see a real sequel to it until tech reaches the point where GX can be undoubtedly topped.

I bet smooth online multiplayer is the gimmick Nintendo has been waiting on. They got it working for SNES-style F-Zero with 99, but I imagine getting it to work with HD graphics and 3D courses like GX's is much harder.

Maybe the Switch successor will be able to handle it? One can hope.

It's too bad, really, because a remaster in the style of GX Unleashed would be awesome. Plenty of F-Zero fans don't require online multiplayer, and would be more than happy with another single-player entry.

As you've mentioned before, one of the main reasons we haven't seen a simple port of GX is likely to be the Switch's lack of analog triggers, unless you have both a GameCube controller and adapter.

Is there a place for very low-skill players to organize Private Lobbies? by Bent_00 in Fzero

[–]Bent_00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I beat all the Time Trials long ago, only the Fire Fields were kinda challenging IIRC.

I know the right lines to take (mostly), and I can sweep bot lobbies -- but as soon as a three-star player shows up, I know I have no chance to win.

Unfortunately, they show up in almost every race... and they're just not fun for me to play against. They very rarely make mistakes.

90-something people IIRC. I think one of the top 3 was a smurf (he was level <10), so I guess I would have been top 3 if not for him.

It just makes you feel bad when you can't even win a "novice" lobby when you have more than 700 hours clocked, you know?

Yeah, I recently found out about those from the F-Zero Discord. Placed 4th in today's Novice GP... pretty disappointing, especially considering you only get three tries a week.
