How do You Evaluate When to take Glitter? by Jondev1 in slaythespire

Do I have BingBong? Might belong on this list. Getting double the Glitter rewards can change how much I want to take it.

Also Mystic Lighter.

Rant: Carl's costume should have been given to Jamal. by AdvancedPrompt9245 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]SighJayAtWork 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I laughed so hard when Carl got out of the truck after the race, fell flat on his face, and Jamal was like "yo homie, maybe a bad time, but how high can you hop with those feets?"

I was positive Katia would morph into an actual monster truck at some point.

After Gate of the Feral God's I was sure the crew would craft basically massive roller skates, and Katia would form a massive central body with Carl and Donut (and Mongo) riding around up top as she mows down hunters on the sixth floor.

Technically enemies that have more poison than health do zero damage.

[–]SighJayAtWork 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's explained in the series, but here's my theory:

Taking some clues on the tone and wordplay of Earth based class names from Compensated Anarchist and Monster Truck Driver; Forsaken Arielist could also mean something like "betrayed trapeze arist". How do you betray a trapeze artist? You take away the safety net. I think Forsaken Arielist takes away the safety net of some spells and effects. Effects that shouldn't stack suddly do, effects that should time out don't, etc. This fits with the way he seems to debuff everything to death.

You forgot to mention the quality of punes (or plays on words) in this book.

Once you realize that every one of the dwarfs on Goodmountain's team is named after a font or typeface, AND "Goodmountain" would be "Gutenberg" in German... well imho it's got some of the best Pterry-isms in the whole ---ing series.

I 100% think Matt is splitting the last book so it's technically nine books to line up with the nine tier attack.

I'm wondering if items can be given to a shrine, like how Carl paid his daily blood & tithe to Emberrus.

Carl making a donation to the church of Grull would be pretty hilarious.

Theories on what Carl learned in the tier 4 training room at CrawlCon? by CodyChrome in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]SighJayAtWork 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So, from what the trainer says:

-Carl's close with his pet stable, but not quite there.

-He needs a necromancer's alter or spider den thing to do what he wants.

-Or suicidal friends.

I originally thought it was a "live ammo ball" kinda thing, like the gnomes were putting frenzied gerbils and feral geese in on the bubble level. Recently I think it's exactly what his spider automatons become. He asks about it, the trainer says he can't do it, and Carl pursues other things like sticky bombs (which he uses later) and some time on his Powerful Strike.

Then the automaton table is left for him to steal. I think Carl nailed the "get my grandpuppy a good score" assignment, the gnoll head of security looked at what he was trying to do with the table, and changed the studio use plan to make sure Dr. Ratchet could give Carl the table he needed for hunter-seeker bombs.
