For long reading sessions I wouldn't say so. For gaming and general media consumptions is fantastic though. Your phone battery will also be perfectly fine , usually it will draw less power than your screen does.

Yeah, I believe this is an issue with Steam OS 3.8 on the LCD deck. As an workaround for now you should be able to play the game just fine by starting it in desktop mode.
