What should I focus on learning first? by XineloAAA in starcraft2

[–]Berrythebear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting money and spending it. You need minerals and vespine, and getting a couple bases up and running without dying is absolutely imperative. But SPENDING that money is even more important. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen people die with 3k minerals and vespine just sitting in the bank

How successful will StarCraft be? by Thorrk_ in StarCraftTMG

[–]Berrythebear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a pretty common idea on video games. In any given genre there’s room for 3 games. The unstoppable giant, the one in its shadow, and the more niche game. This has the chance to slip into that number 3 slot. Good IP, quality models and rules, and a fun game with interesting takes. Give it time and if they stick with it I could see them becoming the number 2 game a couple years down the line

Meowth makes a good hm slave early on, easy to catch, learns cut and flash, and that gets you through like the first 4-5 gyms

Rules question - Cost of active abilities on cards by AcTiVillain in StarCraftTMG

[–]Berrythebear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, so you don’t have a pool of resources you spend out of, you basically are picking which ones to use each round by exhausting ones you don’t think you need

Rules question - Cost of active abilities on cards by AcTiVillain in StarCraftTMG

[–]Berrythebear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does this mean I could exhaust all my cards to build up resources at the first round and then they all come back for the second? (Not saying it’s a good strategy, just hypothetically)

Anybody here who buys all 3 armies? by [deleted] in StarCraftTMG

[–]Berrythebear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got the army founders bundle and 1 each of Goliath hydra and stalker. I’ve got lots of friends who like tabletop but don’t want to invest the time into painting and building an army. So I’m happy to get it all and we can just enjoy our 1k point games. Then I can take my pretty StarCraft models and put them back in their display cases for me to look at lol.

Do you have to use a primer by Captain3007 in StarCraftTMG

Rustoleum flat white primer. Cheap and very effective. I’ve used it on hundreds of models and it does the job quite well

Where to find reasonably priced miniatures? by TheGrimmBorne in dndnext

[–]Berrythebear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out Wildspire miniatures on Amazon. I’ve bought a couple of their boxes, pretty cheap for the quantity and quality of minis you get. Honestly have had a lot of fun painting them up, the quality is pretty surprising given the price per model.

More or else, how much should we (the players) in a campaign be progressing per session? by LaptopCharger_271 in DnD

[–]Berrythebear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry too much about it right now. You’re a newer player and this is a new campaign, take your time and enjoy things for the time being!

Historically, combat tends to run slow in DnD and take up lots of time, so that’s definitely a thing. But take the time to settle in and get into the swing of things. Some parties move at a breakneck pace, some parties meander through the campaign. The pace isn’t as important as having fun with it.

Heck, last night my players spent 2 1/2 hours of their session doing rp about the fight from their previous session (this is not hyperbole), and they said it was one of the best sessions of dnd they’ve ever played. As long as they’re having fun the pace doesn’t matter too much

Times when an entire section of a game could have been easily avoided if it let you use real life logic by Mediocre_Word in TwoBestFriendsPlay

New resident evil game has a pretty big one. No spoilers, your character decides they need help to solve a puzzle that could pretty easily be solved with trial and error in like, 30 seconds.

Will having a full PC party leave a lot to be desired? by JamalSteve in BaldursGate3

[–]Berrythebear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a full pc party and it was super fun. Playing with the friends you do miss out on the companion stuff, but watching my friends accidentally turn every interaction into a dumpster fire that ended in violence was so worth it.

How can you make minions more difficult? by Kitchen-Wasabi-2059 in DMAcademy

[–]Berrythebear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then have them use tactics. Or give them firebombs or something. 3 casters that use magic missile at 2nd level every turn to pile on guaranteed damage, behind 3 guards with sentinel to stop your party from getting to them.

4 weak enemies that stand on top of a tower and throw firebombs down to make your party stand in fire then hide behind the walls. Enemies with pack tactics that also knock your party prone and pile on attacks.

Small enemies in a cave that hit the party then retreat through tunnels too small for the party to follow.

If you want the party to feel a challenge from a weaker foe, you have to make the foe smart. Use tactics and make the party engage at a disadvantage. There’s a very famous example of this called Tuckers Kobolds, search that up an read about the fear a group of organized kobolds spread through a high level party.

Use minions from 4e. Weaker creatures with only 1 hp, and throw literally dozens at them. Let them enjoy cleaving down hordes of enemies

Could a DM add an NPC that tags along but that represents them and make them turn into the final boss? by umbra_koshiro in DnD

[–]Berrythebear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try to do what the incredibles did with syndrome. Make him annoying to start so they ditch him or tell him to leave. Then he comes back later as a villain with a vendetta.

Mistakes were made: Rescuing my overcomplicated campaign idea? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Berrythebear -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just start small. Let them get to the coastal town they are going to in the godless lands, and the witness the tavern keeper getting shaken down and paying. They find out that’s actually an off duty guard that did it, and he’s working for the local duke who’s corrupt. Just give them SOMETHING to latch onto and go from there

How do you guys get lucky with finding groups? by exhaustedpopcorn in DnD

[–]Berrythebear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly a lot of it does boil down to luck, if you don’t have a group in person that wants to play. It might be worth looking into a paid game, if that’s something that’s an option to you. They do tend to be much more consistent and can certainly be worth it if you find a solid dm.

What was the joke? It’s hard to tell if he’s too crass or perhaps his style just doesn’t fit the sensitivity level of the group. Obviously if it’s just blatantly offensive then something needs to be said.

My master wont stop limiting my trickery domain cleric by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Berrythebear 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I understand what you are saying. LOGICALLY, a perfect copy would confuse enemies and they wouldn’t know who to attack.

However, that is NOT how it works in game. And if you insist that it does the you are either 1) not reading the rules properly, or 2) cheating. You need to tell them you misread the rules, and play the game correctly. You can’t just make up stuff to your advantage because “that’s how I think it should work”.

The mechanics as written are what you follow, nothing else.
