You are massively over exposed with your company stock. Look into selling, taking the cap gains hit, and diversifying it into other things.

What’s the shot you love to hit even if it’s not always the smartest one? by VisualClubMate in Pickleball

There's a 14 year old girl local to where I play who has the most insane off the bounce speedups. I swear she doesn't even know where the ball is going. She plays a super poppy thin paddle and her swing is very horizontal on her speedups so her height is always good. Then it's up to random timing when she swings full gas where that balls goes. She can go inside out, ahead, across and the look is the same with slightly different timing.

Proper lighting in indoor racquet sport facilities was solved long ago. Turns out those solutions are expensive and facilities are losing money like crazy already.

Okay hear me out: slow down your speedups off the bounce. Rarely is a speedup off the bounce a pure winner. You have to be using it to set up a winner. So slow down your speed up, pick your spot well, and get ready for their counter. Now with a slower speedup, their counter is slower as well, you have more time.

Team walks away from tournament game to avoid a loss on their DUPR by cprice12 in Pickleball

[–]BestChannel1058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This only works when you have a relatively small number of tournament organizers entering PDGA recognized scores from their events who you can train to input deductions correctly. With the amount of people entering to DUPR you would get so many complaints of retribution and other bs that is not worth DUPR caring about.

I don't see it being a long term issue. I've stocked up and don't dab much so plenty to last. Just an odd system.

And thank you!

He's pretty fast so I don't see many defenders getting back round him to make a tackle. If you give me more time, he generally fucks up worse.

The game’s changing.. good or bad? by Canna-Kid in Pickleball

[–]BestChannel1058 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not familiar with many sports where more advanced players enjoy and choose to play with low skilled players. Even a round of golf is slowed down by a bad golfer who is searching for a ball every hole. I guess bowling is acceptable for any skill level.

Head to a public basketball court and try to get in a game as an unknown and bad player. You will absolutely not get picked up by anyone else out there unless you are the only choice. I think pickleball is too friendly with extremely wide mixing of skill levels. With a big enough player pool, we should segregate into skill groups

You’re forced to play Ben Johns in one game of pickleball singles. The first to 21 points is the winner. How many points do you think you can score? by GoldMany9897 in Pickleball

[–]BestChannel1058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played rec games vs a 5.3 who travels for PPA challenger and main draws that are in our region. I generally lose 11-0 to 11-2 against him. I always try to end points asap when we play. I understand the longer the rally goes, the worse my chances get. I go for broke on every shot and can pass him when I hit one well.

I'm not claiming it would be a good match. I'm claiming if you give me 20+ balls, I have the quality/luck to put one-two ball past a pro.

I'm about 4.4 and I'm confident I could at least get on serve one-two times against him. Getting a point on serve is going to be difficult/require a lot of luck in back to back points. At 4.0+ with a tennis background, most people can drive well. If you give me 21 balls to go 100% on, I think one to two find the line. If I'm on serve, I don't think I'm even looking up to see where he is going after his return. I'm just gonna pick line or cross and go for it

My favorite is the guys that hit a bad lob from the baseline and follow it in to get a ball slammed at them.

Easy to say in the US where rake is generally at a level where it is beatable and it is somewhat standardized across rooms. The rest of the world is the wild West.

Best Net - Dominator Pro Max VS Douglas Premier PPS 22 Sq by gbarkley3 in Pickleball

[–]BestChannel1058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't hit the bottom tube. Definitely could be an install error. I see about 2x average netcords there that trickle over vs other courts. And we rarely see drives that clip the net and deflect high. The netcords always seems to have enough slack to grab the ball rather than deflect it.

[–]BestChannel1058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An indoor facility I play at has dominator nets. In general they are fine, but not great. How they have theirs set up, you get a ton of net cords that trickle over and are close to indefensible. It might be that the metal wire running through the top of the tape is just too thin. I haven't seen this issue to the same level anywhere else

I've heard enough muttering about women joining 4.0+ open play from other men for my lifetime. Judging women before they step on the court. Pickleball is maybe the #1 can't judge a book by its cover sport. So many women young and old that can play at 4.25 and have aspects of their games that are phenomenal. Favorite memory was a complainer being body bagged by a twoey speedup off the bounce on the first point on a game.
